Bakkies was a great tackler as well, he put in killer hits in loose play and clean outs and had enough speed to put in many try saving tackles too. His partnership with Matfield as a locking duo became stuff of legend in Springbok rugby lore.
If you want to see a pretty runner... Pierre Spies.. nr 8 for the boks that used to play wing and turned into Superman so they moved hom to 8.. WHAT AN ATHLETE.. cant emphasize it enough
Bakkies says he retired because of the extra HD cameras that the TMO's got. Says he couldn't hide his "tricks" any more, and would get a red card every game... He now runs a successful butchery called, Bakkies the Butcher... Maybe Kurt-Lee Arendse can give him a hand now and then....
Loved your MLR videos we support them all I am incredibly passionate about your work and deeply grateful for everything you do, QSN. Your videos are truly inspiring, and I can’t get enough of them! I particularly loved your MLR videos they are fantastic and always leave me eager for more. The dedication and creativity you put into each one are evident and it's clear that you care deeply about your audience. We fully support all your endeavors and are here cheering you on every step of the way. Thank you for sharing your amazing work with us. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and we truly appreciate everything you do.
Whats up QSN? Mad love again for how much you've learned in such a short space of time my guy. Interesting fact you might not know. In the ruck at about 12:30 mins, Matfield is doing something that has now been outlawed. It was called rucking or more accurately raking. In those days, if the player was on the floor, and slowing ball on your side, you could literally step on him with your boots and get him out but raking the hell out of him with your studs. Its since been outlawed and now the Ref basically polices the ruck situation on his own. It was brutal and guys had marks like they were in a fight with Wolverine. It was legal and very much part of the game. Just a cool Easter Egg there for you ❤
Nox my brother! Much love as always, my friend. I appreciate you and all of your support and friendship. Thanks for letting me know about raking I can see why that was outlawed in today’s game You had to be hardcore to play back in those days no doubt hahaha It was almost like anything goes type of rugby last man standing
First of all.. im a big fan.. thank you for the hard work As a proud south african, I wish there is more footage from back in the day to show how good and tough those guys were/are I went to the same school as Bakkies and he played fullback until he was 17 in the 3rd team of the school( thats where the awereness and speed shows). He eventually got too big for that position and they moved him to lock. The rest is history Have you heard of the man Sasha Feinburg-Mngomezulu(excuze my spelling😂). Young star at the springboks and I believe he will be the guy making out new gameplan and coaching staff look good alongside grant williams amd others
Reghard my brother! Thank you so much for your friendship and support. It means the world to me and I appreciate you so much. It would be awesome if there was more footage from back in the day. That’s insane that you went to the same school as Bakkies! No wonder he’s so talented. Playing fullback is definitely where that speed and awareness comes from. You said it perfectly. Yes, Sacha is incredible!! I will have to do more videos on him and Grant Williams for sure It’s nice to see them getting more field experience in these test matches I’m looking forward to talking more my friend and hope that you’re having an incredible weekend!
The biggest school rugby game was today and the average 25 000 spectators. Please go and watch the video that Tim from Eggchasers posted about his great derby between Paarl Gim and Paarl Boys in South Africa.Tim is hoping to attend next year and having you with him would be awesome.
Also, if you can. Please react to Fourie du Preez. Im biased here but he is the original number 9 general. He changed the game before Du Pont did in his position. South Africa was not the same team without him. The Bulls too
All 100% check out Fourie! I’ve been hearing a lot about him too 🤣 all for sure show him love and do a video on him no doubt Thanks for the recommendation as always, my friend. I appreciate you and hope you’re having an incredible weekend. 🙌🏽
If you keep your intusiasm and passion and spread those beautiful seeds over North America, I believe the the American Eagles are going to be brave and dominant as Grisly Bears, cunning as Mountain Lions and together as wolves!!!
you’ve reacted to richie mccaw, i recommend you check out George Smith the guy was feared by McCaw cause of his pace and his breakdown. but please check out Izzy Folau first👉🏽
George Smith was incredible. He was still playing top level ruggas even at the end of his career. Mad respect for him and Phil Waugh. From a South African point of view, we knew those guys stole ball like thieves in South Africa 😂😂😂
As you submerge yourself into South African stuff it's time to learn some lingo. Greet viewers in your next video with "Howzit", derived grom English "how is it ... going with you", sort of like the "Watz-up?" Of 1990s USA. When something unfortunate happens say "eish" pronounced phonetically "aye-sh" from local African languages. For example, "Eish that looks painful, its going to hurt in the morning. " Finally "Lekker ", pronounced La-ker, meaning very nice/ great / candy from Dutch settlers, also used commonly in German. Example, it's a lekker TH-cam channel you got here. As you build up your team names there are the Storners (from the Cape of Storms), Sharks from KwaZulu Natal, Blue Bulls from the Northern part of the country. Lions from just south of that around Johannesburg, the largest city, and Cheetahs from the very agricultural heartland.
Richard, my brother! The lingo is exactly what I needed to learn my friend. Thank you so much for dialing me into it. I have it all saved in my notes now and will continue to practice and learn So hopefully when I get over to South Africa, I will sound more like a native South African, then an outsider 🤣🤣 I appreciate you boss!
The first time you said his surname would have been correct if you had pronounced it “T” instead of “TH”, the “h” is silent!!!! Ask me, I should know.. you might have seen my other profile bushbaby botha commenting..
It's great that you prefer to see the skills and worth on the field in terms of play. As a South African, he was always a legend, but I never liked his shithousery. There was a lot, and sometimes it was embarrassing. However, he was an OG enforcer, and he won a world cup, as well as many other titles. Since then, Eben Etzebeth took the mantle as enforcer. He took the title of enforcer, without the embarrassing shenanigans bakkies used to do. Eben has shown that you don't need to do horrible illegal stuff to show how much of a force you are. If you want proof, then just look at how many yellow and red cards each player has received. Bakkies used to get off lightly a lot because the TMO and refs were nowhere near as stringent as they are now. Eben will end up with almost double the caps Bakkies has. He's already miles ahead. Anyway, love you brother, keep doing what you do, and come visit SA. We'd love to have you!
You said it perfectly and spelled out the differences between Bakkies and Eben. Like you mentioned after researching Eben more, he has an impeccable and clean record on both club and international level I appreciate you always. I love you and I’m looking forward to meeting you in person. I will 100% keep you updated when I make a trip out to South Africa. I’m looking forward to that day
Bakkies Botha provided the mould for an Eben Etzebeth and RG Snyman. He glamorized the enforcer role and they perfected it
i disagree etzebeth and snyman are not quite as intense
I love that Michael! You said it perfectly
Bakkies was a great tackler as well, he put in killer hits in loose play and clean outs and had enough speed to put in many try saving tackles too. His partnership with Matfield as a locking duo became stuff of legend in Springbok rugby lore.
You said it perfectly boss! His tackling was exceptional, and I love to see his overall skill set on display
I will check out Matfield as well
You'll love Pierre Spies too. I know you love athletes 😂😂😂
Ooooh Spies what a beast!
I’ve been hearing a lot about Pierre and will 100% check him out Nox!
That’s what I’ve been hearing Mark!
If you want to see a pretty runner... Pierre Spies.. nr 8 for the boks that used to play wing and turned into Superman so they moved hom to 8.. WHAT AN ATHLETE.. cant emphasize it enough
Yes, I’ve been hearing a lot about Pierre! I will check him out 100% Reghard
Schalk Burger is another guy you need to check out, he’s the definition of putting your body on the line
definition of UFC Rugby 😂
I’ve been hearing a lot about Schalk lately and will do a video on him. I appreciate appreciate you, James.
That’s hardcore right there 🤣
Bakkies Botha was a bouncer at a small town club before he played pro rugby.
That’s a guy you wouldn’t want bouncing you out of the club for sure 🤣🤣🤣
2 underrated players you need to check is Heinrich Brüssow and Pierre spies South African monsters
Not a underrated, they were the best in the world at their prime, their careers were just too short because of medical conditions and injury.
100% Agreed!
They changed the tackle law because of Brüssow.
Heineken Meyer underrated Heinrich. Injuries got Spies
I'm sure that high tackle was only a penalty
Bakkies says he retired because of the extra HD cameras that the TMO's got. Says he couldn't hide his "tricks" any more, and would get a red card every game...
He now runs a successful butchery called, Bakkies the Butcher...
Maybe Kurt-Lee Arendse can give him a hand now and then....
That’s awesome. I’ve heard he owns a butchery now.
It fits his mentality 100% 🤣🤣 KLA will definitely have to drop in and say hi
you should check out Butch James highlights, haha! he'd be red carded every game in this modern era.
Russ, my brother! I will for sure check out Butch thanks for letting me know my bro

Please check out his old mate who played 9 at the time Joost the greatest scrum half of all time RIP to the legend
Yes, I will definitely check out Joost. Thanks so much for the insight Juan! I appreciate you boss

You should watch Fourie Du Preez, probably best scrumhalf South Africa has ever produced
I will for sure check out Fourie. Thanks for letting me know Justin. I appreciate you big dawg!
@@QSNgg look forward to it brother. All the best
What about naas botha or joost will be entertaining videos too especially naas
Yes, I will do a video Naas and Joost! I’ve heard so much about them and excited to check them out
There was a saying while Bakkies was playing "Bakkies doesn't need GPS, Bakkies decides where he is"
I love that saying! I appreciate you, Garnet 🙌🏽
First of all.. im a big fan.. thank you for the hard work

The Real Rugby channel is a vault of amazing South African rugby from yesteryear.
Reghard my brother! Thank you so much for your friendship and support. It means the world to me and I appreciate you so much.

Bro this guy is a beast but you forgot the "TIGER FLEX"😅
🤣🤣🤣 I have to remember to do the tiger flex for sure! Love you, my bro
most rugby lovers in s.a are biltong lovers, if you ever in s.a go to a butchery and get your self some biltong
Do you think you have any connections to get him connected?
I’ve been wanting to try biltong Rudie! When I get out to South Africa, that will be the first thing I buy
Massive love I appreciate you
He played flyhalf until the age of 16. I pity the school boys who had to face him at 10! 🤣🤣🤣
That explains where his speed came from! Yeah, that had to be a tall order facing him at 16 🤣🤣🤣
@@QSNgg I'll excuse the pun 🤣🤣🤣
You should watch Victor Matfield now, they were phenomenal together
React to manie libbok next please❤❤
I will do a Mannie video for sure Neldon
The tackle rules has been changed a lot since he played. No cards at that stage if I remember correctly.
Yeah, the game has definitely changed TJ! You’re 100% spot on
If you keep your intusiasm and passion and spread those beautiful seeds over North America, I believe the the American Eagles are going to be brave and dominant as Grisly Bears, cunning as Mountain Lions and together as wolves!!!
Dan, my brother! Hopefully the American eagles can start putting together competitive sides and growing the game over here. It will be cool to see.
Finally!!!
We finally got to him, Ray! Thanks for your patience boss

Izzy is one of my favorite players ever

McCaw feared him? smith was a great player but please feared, these players don’t get to their status because of fear more like fearless.
McCaw feared no one bro lol
Please react to Danie gerber from South Africa, he use to play during the 1980's
I will for sure react to Danie!
Gg on the pronounciation🤙🏻
Thanks so much, Anton. I appreciate you boss!

Bakkies once punched a guy into tears not something to be proud of in today’s rugby but back then it wasn’t much of an offence…lol
It’s wild how hardcore the game was backed then!
Watch the Sam warburton tribute best yet
I will for sure check out Sam Warburton. Massive love Jarrad!
Before this starts… oops😂. A hell of a player
Hell of a player for sure!🤣❤️❤️
another one is Ma’a Nonu, Ngani Laumape, Aaron Smith all All Blacks✌🏽

Nathan, I will 100% check out all these men for sure! I have a lot of ABs videos upcoming
I’m excited to check him out!
An interesting video would be Gavin Henson...such a talent but off the field ruined his career...circa 2005. He was untouchable
