- Boogie Woogie Piano Player Terry Miles continues his Pub Piano Quest in and around The UK. Terry Miles is making a series of 'PUB PIANO QUESTS' exclusively for TH-cam. Terry visits several pubs to see if they still have pianos in them and to see if people still like to be entertained by a good old fashioned 'knees up' On The Local Pub Piano. See what happens on Terry's Travels around Snowdonia National Park in this episode. Very Entertaining Indeed.

At the church I thought "surely he won't" (secretly kinda hoping he does)
Sits down and plays a lovely rendition of Amazing Grace. Whew, thank goodness.
Then some noodling around a second, me on the edge of my seat yelling at my screen "Oh No he isn't?" Bam, he does! Brilliant, just brilliant!
I kept waiting for the priest to walk in, so you could say what we all KNEW you'd have to say "The devil made me do it" but you got away with it!

My Mum's funeral was at that church, my home town. First pub is actually The Red Lion....
Isn't that why the young Jerry Lee Lewis was kicked out of a Bible college in Texas? For playing a boogie-woogie version of a hymn on the chapel piano. Looks like Terry got away with something that Jerry couldn't. I guess the Devil doesn't own any music after all.
YES IF A CLERGY MAN / WOMAN APPEARED HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN TOLD TO LEAVE. I PLAYED LIVELY SONG TUNES ECT ON THE CHURCH OF HOLY TRINITY DALSTON AT AGE 13, HAVING BEEN TAUGHT PIANO AND ORGAN BY THE ORGANIST, WHILST IN THE CHOIR; BUT AS I WAS ONLY BOY WHO REALLY SANG WE BECAME SERVERS. I WAS THE ASSISTANT ORGANIST AT 13, THOUGH FAR FROM A PROFESSIONAL PLAYER AND STOPPED PLAYING IN 1966 AFTER FAMILLY MOVE TO CLAPTON WITHOUT THE PIANO. I AM NOW BEDRIDDEN HAVING LOST BOTH LOWER LEGS, ALL DUE TO MY FATHER TAKING IT OUT ON ME FOR HE BEING INJURED ON A N 2ND WAR MINE, BY MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY ABUSING ME. CONSULTANTS CONFIIRM THAT ALL THE SEVERE HYPERTENSION, TRAUMA & STRESS ECT I SUFFEURED CAUSED BAD CIRCULATION & THE AMPUTATIONS.BUT DESPITE THE GOVERNENT VIA THE WAR UNLAWFULLY ROBBBING MY MOBIITY, I CAN NOT GET NHS PROSTRHETICS DUE TO CUTS.VERY DEPRESSED N E LONDON

Mike Forti is that kind of like the same attitude small town Americans have for American city folks?
Mike Forti small towns in America are very similar in that way of thinking. I’ve been on road trips where I’ve stopped in small country towns and everyone just glares at you with dirty looks because they don’t want you(me) there. Most of the time small mountain towns are the worst. Human beings a very strange lol

Love this series. Magical piano playing in the few pubs where Terry struck gold. My favourite part was where Terry played in the Church. A beautiful piece played, Amazing Grace, which then flowed into boogie woogie with Amazing Grace still featuring in the background. Fantastic. One very talented guy who not only plays the keys with such command but, also, gives a lot of joy to so many people, some of whom are isolated, sick or feeling low. Thank you.

This video is nothing short of brilliant. What a way to liven up and bring character into a pub and a church. If only more landlords and vicar's encouraged people to play the piano or another instrument for the enjoyment of locals then communities would be much stronger!
I sincerely hope Terry's quest begins a new wave of interest on live music of an upbeat and jolly nature!

Great touch and respect in the church with Amazing Grace. I think all good musicians can read a situation well like you do. God created music and I know when He hear you play say that it's good. A church is just a building so any music will do and I loved how you added some beat.

Great Playing Terry, and I shall subscribe to this channel on the grounds that music should be the first language taught in schools around the world.
I have to confess though, that back in the 1970's in London, I worked for a company that installed heating in churches , and my job was to survey the places ,do the calculations, and arrange the contracting to heat the buildings for services. Suffice to say, when my eyes spotted a piano, or even an organ that had an electric air pump, I sometimes sat for at least half an hour entertaining the woodworms in the rafters, with everything from Toccata to boogie woogie. Mostly, but not always without an audience. What fun music brings to everyday life, and even more so in this day and age, where kids rarely encounter real acoustic music played on real acoustic instruments without amplifiers. Great series, and really great playing mate !!!

I love the history in these videos both in the pubs and the churches. Wow. You're great at describing things too, Terry, like saying you can smell how old the church is. Of course the piano playing is amazing too. It is great to hear these old spaces filled with music.

You'd have to have a musicians night. It's amazing how many are in the localities. If they now they are welcome they turn up, and the atmosphere is brilliant.
In Warminster, there's a pub called the Rose and Crown. It has a piano. It gets played :)
