How to Crochet Crossover Slippers from a Rectangle Pattern DIY Tutorial for Handmade Gifts

- In this tutorial video I'll show you how to crochet these crossover slippers from a single crochet rectangle. They make nice handmade gifts for both others and yourself!
Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. I love crochet slippers because they remind me of the type my grandmother made me as a child. Sometimes crochet slippers are made in the round. These are made flat and then sewn together to fit the sections of the foot nicely. It's a great project for beginners. Plus experienced crocheters will enjoy being able to make a ton of these very quickly.
The measurements given in the video are for an average adult foot. You can easily alter this pattern, as there are no chain or stitch multiples. You can use any type of yarn that you prefer, such as acrylic, cotton, and wool. Feel free to use any thickness of yarn too with its corresponding and suggested crochet hook, as long as you follow along with the measurement guidelines. For my sample I'm using a medium weight (worsted weight) 100% acrylic yarn with an H 5 mm crochet hook.
As always, consider using a puffy paint or slip-resistant product on the bottom of the slippers. You will thank me later!

Hello,my cat is 15lb.I couldn't find a sweater that is easy to make for him. Can you please make a clear video suitable for my cat's weight? I don't know how to crochey at all. As a beginner, I need easy and slow explanations. I love your videos. I hope you will make such a video😍🥰❤️🧶
Beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful
Thank you! 🥰
I like this model. Looks very simple ❤
When you say average size, what size is that? I'm trying to make a pair for a Womens 10 US size.
Here in America, studies have shown the "average" woman's size is 8.5, so this one can go from about a 7.5 to a 9.5 easily. At about 1:05 in the video, it shows how each row's width accounts for going around the foot. While the number of rows accounts for the length of the foot. To alter it to a size 10, start with the recommended pattern, but only crochet maybe 4 rows. Wrap it around the widest part of the foot, similar to 1:05 in the video. See if it needs more stitches, then rip out what you have and start over with that many stitches. Once you have the width correct, the length is determined from the toe to the heel, which is easy to add or subtract rows as needed.
Очень красиво ! Умничка 🎉🎉🎉

I liked it thank you.😊
Thank you!
@@naztazia can I knit it instead of crocheting
So cute!
Can I start with a foundation chain, instead of chaining and going back over with a single crochet?
Feel free to substitute with whatever starting method you would like with this pattern.
Thank you ❤so much
C’est une bonne idée. Merci
Will this be for a size 8M?
As is, the slippers work for a 7-9 shoe size for women. You can alter it if needed by making a different starting chain and add or subtract rows.
@@naztazia ok so it will fit my 8 size foot cool

@@naztazia how to size it up?
Just wondering what the plastic foot inserts are called?
I'm not sure if they have an official name but I'm pretty sure I found them when one of the local places that had shoes closed their doors.
Super ❤

Good evening Mrs. I don't speak English very well, I use Google Translator. Did I understand correctly, 5 m crochet hook, 31 stitches, chain length 25 cm and width...? I'm a beginner
Yes, 5 mm crochet hook. Chain 31. The width will be 9"/23 cm and between 8.5"-9.5"/22-23 cm in length.
Thank you very much ❤❤❤

Hey, have you tried hot glue for the bottom of the slippers to make it none slip? There are a lot of things I can do with this pattern to enhance it. It's very simple and easy to make. Thank you. I call these types of patterns foundation patterns because they can be enhanced to make unique designs. Also, I recently started using fabric glue, I don't know if I like it much because it kinda dries scratchy and it gets stuck on my skin it peels off for hours leaving behind junk and water makes it sticky while peeling off. 😂
I generally find the puff paint works the best for me and have not tried anything else.
