OH MY!!! Be still my beating heart, Mrs. Beeman, you are a goddess! So, so lovely. I feel like the clock is ticking, I am so close to being in a position to acquire one of these Corvair beauties but alas not in time for this one. I'm sure she will find a new home quickly, especially at that price. Until then I will re-watch this many times over I'm sure.
Beautiful! Much like the maroon, 64 Monza coupe that I had in high school. I have never seen, or even heard about, that optional, oil bath air cleaner.
What a beauty! I'm sitting here on the first sunny Saturday we've had in quite some time in Syracuse. I was going to wait until May, but now you've got me motivated to get the '63 Monza sedan out of the garage. I can't drive it for more than a couple of blocks without getting stopped for compliments. Best purchase I ever made. Thanks John!
What a beautiful 1964 Monza Coupe. If my wife wouldn't get mad I'd be giving you call John to come pick up this 64 Corvair this week end on my trailer; Man oh man! Seriously. That will not last long. Thanks for featuring this very good deal on a 64 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Coupe with allot of nice options. If I only had room for a 4th Corvair🤔.
What a beauty, and this looks like a bargain! I used to not care for the style of the early year corvairs, but now I kind of prefer them. Personally, I think those hubcaps look great on this coupe.
John very nice Corvair fairly priced! That Brownie by Browning came from Browning Labs out of Laconia NH one of the early and highly regarded CB radio manufacturers, More famous for their D104 Microphones.
A beautiful car! I would permanently block anyone that gets triggered over such a minor thing as mistakenly calling the eclipse a lunar instead of solar. It’s obviously those that want to scream out loud “I’m the smartest guy in the room”!
Hello Orphan Car Garage, what you really meant with the Corvair rear suspension, was POSITIVE camber, meaning that the bottom of the tire is "in" and the top of the tire is "out". Please reply. Dave...
Imagine a world where pedantic people just kept their mouths shut, especially when nothing about what they say matters at all to anyone but themselves and other people with pedantic sociopathy. Great car 👍
there are even ways to limit suspension travel, that is a half solution, but not letting off in a corner is the way to be safe in any swing axle car. Never unload the suspension in a corner.
Bargain belle of the ball ha. Corvairs are fun and charming in a way Camaros and ‘55s can never be. I’d check that motor with a PPI if I were the buyer. Also - where’s the transmission selector I don’t see a column or floor shifter?
I was sold till I heard it run. I'd be afraid to drive at any distance. A proper rebuilt corvair motor could equal the price of the car.. is the noise a lifter ? A rod? Bent pushrod ???? Fix it before you sell it.
I’ve been driving Corvairs for over 30 years. It’s very obviously a lifter noise. 99% of the time it lessens with regular use. With better paint and a quiet lifter, the asking would be much more. It’s all relative.
@@orphancargarage5746 Having owned no less than 3 'vairs including a '63 spyder, '64 monza and '66 corsa. I wholeheartedly agree. Before an oil service, I personally would drain about a quart from the sump and add a equal amount of marvel mystery oil. Chances are very good the lifter will 'unstick'. A very clean and tidy car. lifter noise, could be wrong weight of oil. Or somebody ran the car with low oil and burned the lifters. Thats a bad noise, shouldnt happen at all .... Paint not matching selling price , but a nice car.
Incorrect weight oil will not cause lifter tick as long as the lifters are properly adjusted (very simple). If TOO thick, or heavy, it might require a bit of warm up time to adequately thin out (IF the lifters are out of adjustment - rare). This is a common 'vair issue that is benign 99.5% of the time. Have accumulated tens of thousands of 'vair miles. - What is a 'burned lifter'? - Tell you what happens here. Corvairs PCV system was implemented in 1963. The first design used a spring loaded check valve or AKA a PCV valve. The 1964 models replaced the PCV valve with a fixed orifice for vacuum balance truing. It's an imperfect system but met emissions requirements at the time. I would check for a clogged orifice AFTER the Marvel mystery oil treatment. Oil residue will gum up the fixed orifice and lead to various issues and indicators, mostly serious blue smoke as crancase ventilation is curtailed leading to all the crancase pressure to 'blow-by' the rings and easily leads one to believe the motor is shot in need of rebuild or oil spewing all over the motor with the blowby actually pushing the dipstick up. I bought my '64 monza for $500 in 1980 being sold because the owner said it needed rings and a rebuild. Found the above orifice issue and that car ran beautifully for well over 80k miles with minimal consumption.
They quieted down within a couple of days on their own as I suspected. Not my first rodeo with Corvairs. They ALWAYS quiet themselves down in time. They don't like sitting, these cars.
This car is just so beautiful! There isn’t a single thing I’d change about this car. I love the patina the paint has. The price is really reasonable!
Couldn't agree more!

Love the car. I've always wanted a Corvair. It's a good thing I don't have a lot of money. Cause you always have great cars at reasonable prices
Thanks!

OMG what an awesome car at an awesome price
when I had my 66 corvair it had heavy weight oil.and so I put nitrex in the motor .and it ran like a dream.calm motor.
Within a week after this video was shot, the lifter quieted right down to a purr..
Beautiful - if 2nd gen(late model) I'd be calling for sure !!
Just love it ❤

I believe it was called Meadow Green.

My mistake. You are correct and thank you.
I am curious about the spot where the roof line meets the windshield on the drivers side

Can the '60 '61 '62 and '63 rear suspension be updated to the '64 model?
Yes. It's been done but it's not a quick task.

Does anyone knows engine size of Corvair?
Do they come all in one size or they have different choices?
Thank you.

Shifter is on the dash, right side of the instrument cluster.
this car is now for sale again. Contact John

$7,900 is too much for that old death trap!!!!
