Something I noticed, whenever Woolie comes upon a scene where Human soldiers are fighting the Alien invaders, Woolie immediately starts shooting at the humans. So I guess we know what side he's on when the aliens invade for real.
8:05 damnit, now all I can picture is Woolie in the HEV suit, no helmet, classic hero pose as the *universe is being unmade* around him, "My suit will protect me."
I really wish Pat hadn't tried so hard to talk Woolie out of Playing HL2. The game still holds up super well, it just also has a few short physics puzzles.
@Morcego cinzento he used the argument that HL2 has aged worse than the original HL because there are a ton of physics puzzles that he says are impressive for the time it came out but now are just tedious
2:22:45 Gordan just terminatored his way through the factory with a nigh unstoppable super weapon, harrying anything and everything within his path, leaving only lamentations and nuclear vapor in his wake. He then proceeds to flinch when a dangling cable rubs his shoulder.
I dropped off the LP around mid-Xen because I didn't expect it to be so damn refined from the original. It's... wild how much work they did on Xen. The environment itself is way more detailed & interesting. Gonarch fight is SO MUCH BETTER. The Vort teleporter scene is a great way to somewhat outright state without directly saying something the community has said for years; it's likely that any Vorts being teleported to Black Mesa were not maliciously attacking folks, but defending themselves after, to them at least, being forced to TP to who knows where against who knows what. GARGANTUA'S LAIR. Actually innovative laser puzzles. And everything about both the lead-up to & the Nihilanth itself. Truly a master class in game design, they turned the worst part of a game into its best. Also, WOOLIE RENOUNCING HIS TITLE OF CEO OF RACISM TO SAVE THE GALUNGAS
I wonder if in his spare time, he's gone through the original just to see the differences. Or at the very least the HL1 expansions. Which when I think about it, aren't really necessary in order to play HL2, but are still good for gameplay and more lore.
Thinkin of the KOTOR2 clip where LittleV is like "ah man, I cant believe I'm doing what I was watching you guys doing years ago" and hes like "this is too weird lets just" and you can just hear him trying to slide out of his skin

In Latin, Nihil = nothing, anth = human. You could read it the name Nihilanth then as “the absence of humanity” or more literally as “the No Man”. This could be meant to imply that he intends to annihilate the earth, but I have a feeling it’s something to do with the Freeman motif.
"Anth" in actuality means "flower", and it relates to the way the Nihilanth's head seems to bloom open as it takes damage, revealing its major weak point/where Gordon must land the killing blow.
Half-Life 2: Update is how I'd recommend playing it. Mainly just polishes it to have the fancier graphics that came with the later episodes without messing with the gameplay.
I’m hoping that the reason he hasn’t played Half Life 2 yet, is because he found out about Operation Black Mesa, the fan remake of OP4 and Blue Shift, and he plans to play those first.
Opposing Force and Blue Shift aren't cannon though, the only thing from them at is is the nuke destroying Black Mesa, and that doesn't even come up in any of the HL2 games anyway.
Great to see the compilation. Personal OCD bug: This video is shimmering/showing trails when moving. I don't know if its a capture of a youtube of the original, but it looks super off to me. Can't wait for Half Life 2!
I'm so glad that my joke of the idea of the crowbar being basically Yamato 1. Got seen by woolie in the first place on stream 2. Made it in the best of 1:00:29 Gives me a big ol grin.

Woolie's been a known human traitor since he said he'd betray earth for a jetpack
Woolie’s definitely joining Civil Protection

@Morcego cinzento because he's pat

@Morcego cinzento he used the argument that HL2 has aged worse than the original HL because there are a ton of physics puzzles that he says are impressive for the time it came out but now are just tedious
