I just love how easily the handles pop off the faucet in your video. I have exactly the same Delta Faucet model on my tub - it took nearly two hours to pry/saw off the handles that got completely welded to the stems. That is - after successfully removing the set screws...
I'm in the process of buying a new house and at the inspection we found the tub faucet leaking . Thanks for the video now I know it won't be too hard to fix
Great Video ! I want to replace mine with another the same size, but the faucet is on the end on the new one. Can I just drill holes to accommodate the new one ?
Good day(..the one a friend had is not the handle bar but plastic knob) Any how to video to replace faucet..it's wobbly (same bathtub).. any how to Thank you have a blessed day and be blessed
Jeff, This is a timely video for me. Question, My Oakland home is on a hill leaving my Master Bathroom with a 25 foot high crawl space. Is it possible for me to remove my roman tub and reinstall the tub after I fix the Faucet assembly installed in the deck?
thanks! when you were checking the valves for shut-off and water flow at the end, I would suggest having a plastic 'tub/bucket' to contain the potential water flow.
i have a tub like that in the house, but the after taking out the screw , their is a small needle like inside the spout. What kind of tools is best to remove it?
We have a 1995 garden tub. We would like to replace the old handles and spigot faucet. So we have found a new one that we like but it's not the same brand. There's no access panel to the pipes under the tub. Are there any adapters that you know of that you can use to change from brand to brand when doing this type of replacement? And a advice would be so helpful. We hate to have to take out tile on the side just to get to access but we know we may have to if there's no other choice. Thanks
Hi did you ever a fix to your problem? I have jacuzzi tub that was installed in 1999 with no access door and teh tub is surrounded by tile. I wanted to upgrade the faucet (moen) if possible.
I have a fiberglass roman tub that I am trying to remove to change out the faucet. I have a hole cut out through the plywood at the vertical front but that will not allow me sufficient space to de-solder the old faucet tubes and solder the new new ones. I need access from the inside, so that means removing the tub. I plan on re-tiling as well. I have removed tiles from the walls and the vertical ones around the tub, but the horizontal tiles around the tub are really hard to remove - there is a thickness of thinset underneath them (I think about 1/4" or so) on top of plywood that sits atop a 2"X10" wood board for rigidity. The tiles and thinset were placed after the tub, so they are binding the lower lip of the tub. I have tried breaking the bind by hammering a narrow putty knife into the bond area between the tub and the tiles/thinset all the way around the tub, but it's still binding. With the exception of a short length where I can pry up the tub, the remainder of the perimeter does not want to come up. Do you have any suggestions to free the tub loose without damaging the tub?
Doing the job right now, wearing a mask and safety glasses! What a fine dusty mess this is! The dust takes forever to settle because it's so fine! I am cutting a 1/2 inch width of tiling along the perimeter of the tub using an angle grinder and diamond blade to free up the tub. I have also found that the builder incorporated steel mesh into the thinset underneath the tiles. Once I finish cutting and then remove that 1/2 inch of tiling by hammer and chisel, I should be able to lift out the tub. Things are not as easy as some make them out to be on TH-cam, lol.
Thanks for the video! Seeing how you removed the tub made it easy for us to remove ours. However, we're not so sure about how remove the tiled plywood surrounding the tub. I would have liked actually seeing how you did it instead of just saying it peels open like an orange. To complicate the situation, we have a layer of drywall cemented between the tile and the plywood. It's quite thick. I am overwhelmed.
Please help! I have a corner jacuzzi tub and it appears the prior owners did not create access panels. It is in a tile surround and the tile continues to a walk in shower on one side. I want to replace the roman tub faucet that requires new rough with mixer because new faucet (Hansgrohe Metropol) has a single lever and the third hole is for a handheld. Would I have a tile guy cut through the tile to make an access door, or try to lift out tub? How do you disconnect and lift out a jacuzzi tub? I would then reinstall the tub.
I am looking at buying a house where the laundry is in a closet in the house and I want to move to the garage and add a utility sink. Water supply lines are easy as the water heater is right there in the garage. House is all on concrete slab. The other side of the garage interior wall is the master bathroom. On that wall is garden tub, tiled shower and toilet. I was thinking of tying into the drain under the garden tub. Is this something that can easily be done considering I would have to pull the tub and chip out some concrete?
Great video! I have a jetted drop in that I have to remove as the jets are leaking and to not experience a leak due to jets, I am just going to replace with a non jetted tub. What do I have to do to disconnect the jets?
I love your channel so much I just became a member! Question - I am trying to complete demo on my roman tub but one of the faucet handles won't come off. It has a pin of some sort under the cap. What tool can I use to remove the faucet handle?
I’ve been using your vids as inspiration to do my bathroom remodel myself. I have a tub like this that I’m thinking of getting glazed over instead of tearing it out. My problem is that it was installed in the 90’s, it’s a black jacuzzi with brass hardware. If I remove the faucet like you did, can I replace it with another without having access to the underside? I want to add chrome fixtures.
Thanks for helping me see how to uninstall my Roman Style Tube Faucet. :) There aren't too many videos out there showing removal/install for this particular style. #extraThanks
by the plumbing code book each ficture has to have p trap( but also you can do it one trap on this case) vertical distance from the fixture outlet to the trap weir shall not exceed 24"
if you are installing another tub with the same needs, sure but all tubs have their own dimensional requirements. Check the installation literature to see if it is compliant.
good video. i have a early 90s rectangular tiled in roman tub like this one, the faucets are dripping pretty bad (through the spout) when closed to the point where its costing me water. kohler taboret faucets with no visible washers on the top side like yours. I need to get inside the box to change washers or cartridges but theres no access panel. All I see is a line of 3 and 4 screws on each of the 2 exposed sides with wood screw-hole covers in them, everything's grouted including the plastic trim lip at the top where vertical meets horizontal or vertical. I'm guessing this means I have to remove the whole side (the short one) by unscrewing the 3 screws, ripping the trim piece off the top and right side, cutting caulk at bottom and wall side ? Thought of calling plumber, but I guess I should do this part myself to save $. How long would it take a plumber to remove the tiled end? Is it a matter of minutes? Could there be some kind of access through the tile/plywood that i'm missing or is that how they (stupidly) did it back then? I might need plumber if faucets cant be fixed, i have kohler replacement parts but changed design has to be soldered, which i would need plumber for anyway. Thanks for any advice
Ouch. another good reason the not have this style of tub. I would suggest removing the panel yourself. Plumbers don't get trained to do that sort of work and you might end up having him wreck something or leaving since the job is not ready.
Great video. I haven't seen any of the programs on over the air TV in the south end of the San Joaquin Valley in California so I tune into TH-cam. I am trying to take out a Roman tub in a mobile home. Unfortunately they don't have a set screw or allen screw in the back of the faucet and I am a bit baffled on how to take the faucet off. I really liked the recent video on working with metal studs.
Does that mean the tub and tile sit on wood instead of Hardy Backer board? It may just seem that way from the viewer angle. If not I don’t understand why there isn’t a concern for leaking and possibly rotting the wood. Thank you!
I love your video! I have the handles and faucet off but there is another piece on the valve that won't screw off and is preventing it from dropping through. I wish I could add a pic but I'm not that savvy.
I'm demoing a corner tub that otherwise looks very similar to this tub. But what if the tub is grouted to the tile instead of siliconed? How do I break the grout without damaging the tile underneath?
Do you recommend setting those style tubs on thick mixed mortar or the plywood like it had. I saw several done like that,or is that just for jetted oned with the vibration? I'm finally setting one in tomorrow.
Anyone who was involved with plumbing in the late 70’s/early 80’s should no longer be able to vote or breed. Or maybe even purchase groceries at a store. They get bread only. Not even the fresh bread. The crap out of the dumpster…
I am starting to think that there is one guy out there with nothing better to do with his time than comment on eye protection from 1000 accounts. I will say this again. I use it when I feel my eyes are in danger. To wear them all the time is dangerous in itself.
I just love how easily the handles pop off the faucet in your video. I have exactly the same Delta Faucet model on my tub - it took nearly two hours to pry/saw off the handles that got completely welded to the stems. That is - after successfully removing the set screws...
Is it an Allen key you use to remove the spout?
I'm in the process of buying a new house and at the inspection we found the tub faucet leaking . Thanks for the video now I know it won't be too hard to fix

Comment of concern… we hear Heavy breathing for very little activity…. Any associated health problems?

A jacuzzi with pump and heater may be bedded into mortar. Need to pull it to repair a broken jet. Any suggestions?
Great tip about removing the framing to make the tile removal easier.
I am all about the working smarter not harder.

Oops. Saw you had already replied earlier.
Hot do you take off handle that's stuck even after removed set screw
What do folks who do this do with the space where the tub is, especially with the window there? What did these clients do?

@@HomeRenoVisionDIY how do I send a picture?

I had the same question
Yes, just take the old one to the store to match

Hey Jeff, have you done a video on installing a free standing tub yet? I have an older 80's sunken tub on a concrete slab and want to update it.
What did you end up doing
How would you go about replacing the faucet on a tub like this?
What is this faucet model please?
by the plumbing code book each ficture has to have p trap( but also you can do it one trap on this case) vertical distance from the fixture outlet to the trap weir shall not exceed 24"
6:39, that's the funniest shit you love to see in Jeff's videos.
Can you reuse the Roman tub frame?
if you are installing another tub with the same needs, sure but all tubs have their own dimensional requirements. Check the installation literature to see if it is compliant.
Now I need to know how to seal off drain and rough-in and make it a normal floor.
what tool are you using to remove the small screws?
Those are hex wrenches (aka Allen wrenches or Allen keys)
good video. i have a early 90s rectangular tiled in roman tub like this one, the faucets are dripping pretty bad (through the spout) when closed to the point where its costing me water. kohler taboret faucets with no visible washers on the top side like yours. If there is no set screw then it is threaded on. simply turn the faucet counter clockwise.
Thank you. that help me to get my job done.
Thank you for this video! I was able to pull out my own corner tub.
Does that mean the tub and tile sit on wood instead of Hardy Backer board? It may just seem that way from the viewer angle. If not I don’t understand why there isn’t a concern for leaking and possibly rotting the wood. Thank you!

why put the faucet in the front like that, seems like it would be in the way
Hey Jeff; I have a Greek tub ..does it work the same way ???????????
Very Funny. A tub is a tub is a tub
Can you do a video on framing for corner tubs?
If I ever install one sure. The plan's are usually in the box and easy to understand.
I'm demoing a corner tub that otherwise looks very similar to this tub. But what if the tub is grouted to the tile instead of siliconed? How do I break the grout without damaging the tile underneath?
you could use a grout remover tool or a chisel.
This is an incredible video thank you so much!
Also thank you for all your videos! You have been a great help to all my projects!
very well made and explained. easy to follow. Thanks
Cheers!
Is that his son?
Now I find this video. I just smashed through the wood/tile and cut the tub into large pieces.
Very good video,thank you.
What about removing a tub with whirlpool jets?
same thing except you will have a trap door so you can access the electrical. Cheers!
Good video....thanks
very professionnal
Thank you. You were on e of the first to see this video. Where do you live
bought our house 1990 we haven't used our jet tub 5 times, now it doesn't work ! Lol.
That is a very common story, used a s a selling feature but not as practical as most people think.
10 years from now niches will be as foolish as jet tubs. lol
The accent, where you from?
What's wrong with this bathroom!?? Second nice bathroom I seen you redo
Hi Vinny, some people don't like tubs and want a larger shower. I say if they want it and they can afford it who am I to judge.
Ha. I thought the same thing.
Do you recommend setting those style tubs on thick mixed mortar or the plywood like it had. I saw several done like that,or is that just for jetted oned with the vibration? I'm finally setting one in tomorrow.
Just du eat ✅
Disappointed at the lack of a money shot at the end😐
THAT'S PRO
The nose whistle gets annoying after an 8 hour day.

It's a two MAN tub? 🍾
Nah, bruh..
: ) ... jk ... lol
You should be in jail for the amount of ads you put on this video. Jesus Christ that was painfully agonizing.
Very condescending to his son.
Nice video. Next time wear eye protection.
I am starting to think that there is one guy out there with nothing better to do with his time than comment on eye protection from 1000 accounts. I will say this again. I use it when I feel my eyes are in danger. To wear them all the time is dangerous in itself.
Home RenoVision DIY guy probably works in an office too lol
