Lmao this statement is beyond truth. It amazes me how there are people out there dropping that much money on a game they will cast aside in a year or two. I hate when I spend $10-$20 cause I know I likely will only play it for a few months, if that even... Actually invest that money or give some to me bro. Give money to people instead of meaningless gems in a game.

Asmongold made a good point. People want to be able to get to end game and play at the highest level in a reasonable amount of time without having to get a high paying job. For most people, games are an escape from reality. They don't want to have to grind in reality to have the opportunity to escape in a game. It defeats the purpose.
Also, games like these use tactics to take advantage of people's shortcomings and manipulate their brains to get them hooked and waste their money.

      To create a Twitch Audience.
Would you know about this guy, if he spent 30$?
      No.

He would not Put a Target into himself if it wasn't for this, he want's the attention, that's the return of his investment, a Community.

Check out the mobile game last Shelter Survival. You fight by setting up your troops and heroes in a "apc" and you can upgrade your apc parts. A full set of the highest level parts for 1 apc (you have 5) costs $100,000. There are thousands of bases that have spent over $100,000 on upgrades. There's probably a dozen or so million dollar bases. Lots of big money players in the game though (including at least 2 billionaires). So they spend $100,000 like normal people spend $100

But there is a difference between that and spending THOUSANDS on a game, it shouldn't have to be this way. The problem with gamblers like him defending this is that not everyone can do what he's doing and still support themselves and live in a house! People will ruin themselves because of these mechanics and defending the mechanics is synonymous to defending the need for people to ruin their (financial) lives because they are sensitive to gambling or have low self control. That is just morally wrong! This is not about "oh i'm having fun so what gives", but standing up for the people that cannot protect themselves from gambling.

"Me being a pay to play, how does this affect the game of a free to play player?"
    I will tell you.
Because you pay insane amounts of money for the game, you literally incentivise game makers to create games exclusively made for you. You incentivise game makers to add monetization to everything.
And this isnt even just mobile games, it clearly isnt, we have seen how this has been creeping more and more into PC games.
It used to be that if I bought a game for 50 bucks, I had a game, with everything in it at my disposal, where I could play to unlock achievements, often in the form of skins.
Then they started making skins pay to play only. Then they started adding customisation just to increase the amount of payment ppl do.
    And its obvious why.
If you pay 100k on a single game, just think how many copies at 50 bucks that is. You singlehandedly pay the same amount that 2000 other players would spend on a tripple A title.
That means any player who drops 50 bucks on a game only pays 0.05% of what a single whale pays.
Or to turn it around. 0.05% of whales pay the same amount of money as the entire rest of the playerbase. Why on earth would any company care for the rest of the playerbase, if they can instead try to get more whales. Double the amount of whales and you get 50% more profit. And for most games that only means to get a few hundred or thousand whales into the game.
So it very much so affects the average player. Cause games companies would rather build casinos for ppl that dont know what to do with their money, than to create fun video games.
Especially as a lot of people never had this type of money to spend on games in their entire life. I have like 100 bucks a year to spend on video games. And these insane purchases from people that have too much money are the reason why those 100 bucks are increasingly worthless. I can buy less and less games, and get less and less content in the games I do buy.
And this is just the systemic issue behind this bs. The fact that these types of games systematically take money from children who literally cant afford it pushing entire families into financial ruin is the cherry on top of all this nonsense.

With modern game streaming you can literally do that if you have a decent signal or good wifi. Just pull out the phone and stream whatever game you want to play, minor latency isn't a big deal in a game like diablo anyway.
