That is the sound of our shared future, the electric whine is the sound of pure power and torque. Now when 2012 arrives and we once again have NiMH batteries to use for range the electron age of transport will become the next normal. Great work and an awesome machine.
After watching a second time, i can see where the regen braking allows for a deeper braking point thus rapid closing under braking. The torque is just sick for sure.
i reckon it sounds awesome! no gears flat torque line. perfect engine. i reckon some out of the box thinking water free energy stuff might be the holy grail for this bike. good luck! im watching closely :)
WOW! I'm impressed at the speed. Two weeks ago i got to try an electric 'ZERO' electric bike and couldn't believe the TORQUE. Must be weird not shifting.
Electric bikes has the advantage of 100% torque all the time and does not need revving the engine as IC engines do (also your mind is free from trying to prevent engine blowup). Also gear shifts in ICE delays power output to wheels. So a good driver + electric vehicle would always be in the advantage. Amazing stuff!
To the haters, I love a liter bike's sound just as much as the next guy (read: a lot), but if the noise is that non-negotiable, go get some damned headphones. This thing is vastly more efficient than any gasoline bike out there, and produces MASSIVE torque like no other. A diesel couldn't do what this thing does. Motor and controller tech is so very good and efficient that batteries only have a little way to go and they'll beat the hell out of any gas bike they see.
Torque Monster!!! It's a demon on the straights, but I't looses a little in the twisties. I'm guessing the engine compression braking of the gas bikes helps them slow and allow them to get back on the throttle quicker. This bike looks like it runs a little wide in the curves, is it a little heavier too? It's probably going to take a change in riding style to maximize the high end- I wonder what Rossi would do on it. I love where this is going!!! Next all electric racing- I hope!!
O.K., this rider was catching other racers on the brakes and closing before the apex of turns. That is more about the rider than the machine, Especially when the bike is a heavy e-bitch. Anyone can open the throttle of a strong engine and hold on down the straight, but only a racer can make up time on the brakes and through a corner. Well done, racer! Great video.
A brilliant piece of technology, especially considering it matches and can even better some of the petrol driven bikes. It does sound like he's riding a washing machine though!
@JRP3 Is this why the electric machine appeared to catch up the ICE bikes when slowing for corners? I also got the impression the e-bike was faster on the long straight...?
@DieselGrunge I think so. It's a real dog off the line, but it pulls nicely once it's rolling I suppose. Imagine high siding off that thing with those batteries flopping around in the tail section though :o
@head2winnd why not search, form what I can remember from BBC world service report, slightly better power to weight than ICE, batteries behind rider as passenger and also in front to balance weight, water cooled electric motors 195bhp. But wanyway, search for it don't rely on what I can remember, it's fantastic though, even pulls a wheelie!
If I ever build an electric bike it's gonna have speakers where the exhaust pipe usually is and play dupstep to the rhythm of me kicking the asses of all the gas bikes out there :P
enormous power +enormous torque= more glue on the stickiest rubbers! Also at 550 lb. max weight & 365 ft.-lb torque is it compulsory to have drive on one wheel only? When you remember the big front wheel on 1980 TRON light bikes the designers glanced at an obvious need ,now is our near future
If we could get companies to sell us reasonably price electric cars that weren't total garbage, and set up a really solid nuclear power system we'd be set, but unfortunately people don't want to do what makes sense, because all they care about is what is currently profitable for them. Until it is no longer profitable they won't change, and the oil industry has so many stakes in automotive companies they won't let it happen.
Unbelievable! Completely impressed, and this is coming from a former road racer.

Awesome, keep up the good work Chip ! I wish you guys all the best with this project.
WOW!! This is great seeing how well you chase down the gas powered bikes. The electric whine is also epic!
Way to go Chip! Congrats to you and your crew.
Unbelievable! The sound is weird but awesome, and the bike is SOOOOOO fast!
brilliant, been waiting for this to happen but never thought it would be so soon.
You should come over to the TT with it !

Brilliant. Keep on whinin, great sound.
I love combustion engines but this is wicked. The torque is instantaneous
WOW! I'm impressed at the speed. Two weeks ago i got to try an electric 'ZERO' electric bike and couldn't believe the TORQUE. Must be weird not shifting.
Looks like the future, no problem with speed
Awesome ride!

that thing is quick, even a wheelie, got one guy on the straight

Incredible!!!
Twelve Years went by.
What happened to Swigz?
A brilliant piece of technology, especially considering it matches and can even better some of the petrol driven bikes. It does sound like he's riding a washing machine though!
The date in the opening credits is wrong.
@nomads67 No, probably wind buffering a bad mic and the motor whine
@JRP3 Is this why the electric machine appeared to catch up the ICE bikes when slowing for corners? I also got the impression the e-bike was faster on the long straight...?
incredible!
Very, very, very cool.
its a really powerfull bike!!!
impresive
woow !! very impressive !
Wow, The bike actually does do very well against gassers. GO GO GO
oddly enough at swigz.com, (primary sponsor I guess) no mention of this bike in their news. Where do we find out more about this scooter?
@DieselGrunge I think so. It's a real dog off the line, but it pulls nicely once it's rolling I suppose.
Imagine high siding off that thing with those batteries flopping around in the tail section though :o
Is there any "motor" breaking, to slow you down?
sounds like a jet to me ... kickass
Why can't you hear the other bikes like you normally would? are they all electric?
very nice viedo
awesome!!
Maybe u meant 2011 year but no 2010 in the beginning of the video?
it sounds like the scooter my grandma used to ride. I think hers was called a Rascle.
@vonotto44 Yes regenerative braking from the motor puts some energy back into the pack.
excellent

@dzij4 158 mph?

Electric motor isn't good at low speed, but once pass 100 Km/h. The torque is amazing.

Tron cool, just add some EL Wire!!
@TheRealMobo - Now there's an intelligent comment!
dat sound )
Two words: Tron lives

sounds like an rc car
Put some gears in that gumby.
wow
I wonder how it feels being overtaken by a electric vehicle. It's a feeling the gas-powered world is going to have to get used to.
1:47- 1:50 PWWNED and desperately changing gears
Im not quite sure i like the sound, certainly impressive though!
Electric powa! ;-)
next, Le mans
@zikzakfr ha ha excellent comment
nice sound -_-.... :/
awesome speed but terrible sound
That thing sounds like a toaster... not a bike. The future is fucked up...
