Homily: You Are Simon | Fr. Mathias Thelen

In this brief homily given on Palm Sunday (Sunday March 24th, 2024), Fr Mathias preaches on the role Simon of Cyrene played in helping Jesus carry his cross. When Jesus couldn't carry his cross alone, Simon was forced to help him. Challenging us to consider who has been placed in our life carrying a heavy cross, Father Mathias reminds us that we are to be "Simons" to those in our lives to help them. Like Simon of Cyrene, we have no choice of how this happens, but we must identity who God is calling us to serve. Serving our family members, friends, and coworkers who are carrying their crosses around us helps us position ourselves to share in Jesus' Cross and his resurrection.
