I love them they are gorgeous, 30 of them screening for 6 scout sentinels, acting as spotters for basilisk field ordinance batteries can ruin anyone's day, naturally you have your krieg battle lines with command squads, and commander solar leontus, and that is my solid core of Krueger army
I am planning on testing these boys soon so this is JUST what I needed to get prepared! I’ve been waiting to use these bad boys since 8th I think it’s finally time to test them.
@@badgerskullpainting3772 he also refers to Chimeras as tanks even though it's an IFV. Stoked for you to make your way to Rogue One, my personal favorite Star Wars movie. Big big Star Wars fan and out of the 2 trilogies and the stand alone films (cuz we dont count the last trilogy) i think Rogue One really stands tall. Fantastic with the story and bringing a different feel outside the major main characters.
Ty. Need them to push with Rex. Infantry kriegers need transport to keep up. Those that can keep up can't endure even cursory fire so they just let the opposition more efficient in their next turn. Movement f***ery is EXACTLY what I need. And if you ignore them... they punish you hard just like sexy rexy.
Play lord Solar with 30 horse and 3 commanders. Like up a first turn charge. Force you opponent to completely change their deployment then redeploy if needed.
Hey mordian, I'm fairly new at the game, and the other day I played a narrative campaign against some tyranids. I got absolutely destroyed I couldn't deal with neither genestealers the first round nor the monster mash the second, part of it was the terrain obscuring the advance of the tyranids, but what's really been poking at my mind is how to deal with large tyranid bioforms as the guard. My two leman russes got pinned in meele almost immediately, and I feel like tyranids get to spam to many wounds with very good saves while the leman are still squishy.
im just getting into the new rules myself but on my one side i was going to take an eradicator and a demolisher. both can fire their main weapons into engagement range and the eradicator ignores cover on the main gun. and if im going to take a demolisher i might as well make it a tank commander so i can give aim orders to the eradicator. a scout sentinel with its +1 bs special can also help both tanks meaning the eradicator should hit on like a +2 and the demolisher is hitting on a 3+. seems like a decent amount of bang but we'll see lol
Also theyre under some circumstances a smaller footprint than an infantry squad with their 40mm bases and dont suffer from blast and anti-infantry and bunch of other special rules that float around the lists currently.. I wish I had more than 5 :D
What do you think of having 3 units of 10 death riders, with 3 hades drills all backed up by 100 dkok infantry as the core of an army? I started collecting a while ago and this is the plan I have. I am too much of a perfectionist so I am perpetually painting these guys. Haven't played since 8th ed.
Hades Breaching Drills can only only deploy "Infantry" units and Death Rider Squadrons don't have that tag. You'll have to use the DKoK but other than that, I love it! If you want something interesting you could swap a few DKoK for Ogryn Squads at the same points cost and Deep Strike those bad boys.
@@ruchz2010 I knew that about the Drills, I was thinking maybe they can be scions idk if they can be. 3 units of dkok infantry appearing in the middle of the board with the 30 death riders on the edge allows me all the board control I want, and a ton of wounds. Backed up by some heavy firepower from a russ or two. Idk what the points would be for all that though.
@@TheKarofaar it is 190 wounds for all the riders and basic infantry. All bullet sponges and distraction with OS. Im not a competitive player, so no tournaments for me. I will try it out and adjust acordingly.
You can use each drill to deploy a 20-man Krieg unit with a Marshal and a Command Squad AND an Ogryn bodyguard and that counts as a single INFANTRY unit. 27 units, maybe 30 if you have the Regimental Attaches. With the Regimental Standard that is 54 OC. The other thing that counts as a single INFANTRY unit is an Earthshaker which is not that useful but boy, it is funny.
@@HPLovecats correct you can infiltrate the whole 10 man unit. Put 3 squads 9in from thier deployment zone and just cage them in for the entire first turn!
i just saw this vid after beginning to buy into krieg.. did you not forget the leader ?? i think he give the team infiltrate ? and can give orders. and something when charge?
One little thing against them Where do you hide those dudes, they are a wide unit, maby even more than a 20blob. And wherever you move them...prepare to be flammed. And if you don't move then they are worst than useless, they are using space in the table, and space in 10th edition is more valuable than a Rogal Dorn. Yes throwing hordes to death to block an enemy unit is the Guardest thing to do, but...no.
I'm having 15 of these painted right now by a mate. They really aren't that great against basic marines - they are averaging 3 T4 W2 3+ dead marines (without Fnp) on the charge. Decent against light infantry though - looking at averaging 12 T3 W1 5+ dead models on the charge. However - you've hit the nail on the head about their real purpose, which is to screen and be generally annoying.
I like what you had to say about the Death Riders, but that's not why I like them. If I'm being honest, I don't like Rough Riders. Every other faction can manage bikes, whether specially made for them (Astartes), cobbled together from scraps (Orks), or skimmers (Eldar stripes), and even GSC can steal them from human PDF forces, so mortals DO have them, and that makes me wish Guard had them. Space Marines just lost Assault Bikes, and I would love for Guard to take them up, and gain the +1T, and a mobile support weapon car. Even WWII European armies had combat bikes, so I don't feel like I'm stretching expectations. Fine though, we get anachronistic horses. Prior to 10e, though, regiments weren't supposed to intermingle, and a Cadian force were Cadians; Catachan were all Catachan. Your Catachan Tank Commander was still expected to look like a sawed off Catachan officer, and not some other regiment. Allies were frowned upon, and an army was expected to need to, and be able to, stand on its own strengths, and units. That is why I don't like Rough Riders; they break motif. Attilan infantry were practically out of production even when I got into the hobby, and that was 20 years ago, so almost no one has been fielding Attilan regiment for years, and they just don't match the Cadian Starship Troopers, or Catachan Rambos. I'll always prefer my Cadians to be better, but right now, Krieg is the superior infantry, it seems, and Leontus more auto-include than Creed, so at least the Death Riders match the rest of the Krieg army, if that is what you choose to field. It's a silly thing, especially compared to efficiency, and at Forge World prices, when they are even available; one of the best FW units is Shadow Spectres, but they haven't been available for years, and Ebay charges like highway robbery, but I appreciate that, even dealing with resin, the cavalry, and their infantry, will look similar. If the Marshall could take a steed, like Captains/Warbosses/Farseers can take a bike, it would be even better, but consistency is important to me.
Man where is that last wait there's more? You never even added ALL of that Death Rider Squadron Command. 60 points with 1 order, His abilites are only mentioned half.. He gives horses infiltrate AND devastating wounds on the charge with Lances. Like how many mortal wounds would you get from 30 +5 attacks After an order to fix bayonets?
Mr Mordian Glory, you cannot use the death rider ability when someone deepstrikes or comes in from reserves, issue is they never get within the 9” to trigger it. Only thing they could do is normal, advance and people coming out of transports.
Was already planning to have 30 rough riders and 30 death riders, but thanks for confirming my idea to do it. Time to ride!
After pure Infantry there has to be a pure mounted armylist 😂
At least with the maximum of 60 horsemen and some cavalry characters
Now we need a deathrider battle report. With krieg and malcadors and earth shakers.
The correct answer is that they are always the best.

They're blummin' pricey, Mordian, is what they are! (But awesome!)
My 5 rough riders mulching a wave serpent, hitting on 2+ wounding on 3+ for d6 damage at AP-4: "not good anti tank huh?"
He did say "Tank". A wave Serphent is a IFV not tank.

You forgot the commander opinion which gives them infiltrate and devastating wounds on the charge
Only the commander has dev wounds sadly
You missed the best bit. Add a squadron commander and then they infiltrate
And devastating hits on the charge
Sadly only for the commander not the whole squad (I think)
