If you’re still In uni and haven’t graduated yet, your office can give you a letter detailing when you’re scheduled to graduate. That’s what I did.

Also, how long should the recommendation letter be? I've asked 2 professors. Can you help explain how it should be structured? They told me to write it myself and then take it to them for the school stamp and signature. Should the reference letter be handwritten or typed? Sorry for the million questions. I just don't want to make mistakes and applications open next month, but I've yet to get police clearance. I need reassurance that me being a student currently won't be a problem, leading to wasting money I don't have.

They’re not too fussy if it hasn’t arrived yet (is there proof that you’ve applied for it? If so, attach it) Recommendation letter: preferably typed and just one page will suffice.

Hey Presh, quick question...the application form says "The application should be typed if possible, or neatly handwritten in block letters", and the checklist form or guide form says "The original form should be filled in blue ink" Does this mean I need to fill in the form in blue ink if I'm doing it by pen and can stick with black if I'm typing it? Hi, If you do a tefl which I would recommend you do , but don’t necessarily need for JET. (For other programs you do need) but anyone that is accredited will be fine. A 120 hour certificate will do too
Can I ask you what process you followed to withdraw your pension fund when you left Japan. Do they pay it to you on resignation or do you need to wait until retirement age to receive it from Japan?

I think that’d be too hasty…it just means that you shouldn’t get money that would reflect and get taxed in JP. Plenty of people have side hustles discreetly I think.

Yeah you pay rent, every month. If you're in a sharehouse its usually mixed nationalities including other local Japanese people too....But again, it depends on where you're located

Yes of course! You can apply for university in Japan after high school! Many people have done it. Just Google search MEXT scholarship and other universities for “international students”

Hi Bongi, blood tests are not done at all as far as I know. Nope, it won’t hinder your application as long as it’s not life threatening and you can still take care of yourself. There are jets who do have medical requirements, so just make sure they know about it and that medicine will be accessible should you be accepted. 😊
asap. Do them around this time (July/ Aug) so that when you send your application they are ready in time! I sent everything with my application all at once 😊
Basically you have to show that how the JET program will help you, how you’ll be a cultural ambassador for your country, how useful you’ll be, and how adaptable you are/ have been thus far (let them know that you’ll be able to handle living in JP)… if you’re still worried you can DM me 😊💃🏽

Yes you do! JET runs for 5 years max. After that you can find a similar job elsewhere I believe 😊 Reapplication for the jet program is possible after a number of years too ( forgot how many)

Yes they do. You have to give 2 letters. I got one from one of my tutors. And the other one from a university club that I was a part of. So anyone that you know that can vouch for you, should be good 😊
Yea definitely! Some people do that, and the pro with that is that you’re immediately surrounded by people so your chances of making friends right away are much higher!

Hi Ebrahim, yes you do travel with other JETs because you are all booked on the same departure date and flight. If you have to quarantine, itll also be with other JETs too.
As far as I know, none. Just make sure you state in your application and that it can be treated/ maintained and importantly; it will not affect your work 💕

In Japan, they use YEN not Rands. So you to exchange your money into yens before you go to Japan ( at a bank ) or at the airport 😃

That`s right, but for JET not really. However, what I would advise is to have it verified/ certified/apostled in case you apply somehere else too.

How long did it take you to learn that Japanese
My Japanese isn’t that great actually, check out my recent video on learning Japanese with Lebo! It took him 6 months
But me, maybe a year to be able to get around…barely

Yea definitely! Some people do that, and the pro with that is that you’re immediately surrounded by people so your chances of making friends right away are much higher!

Hi Ebrahim, yes you do travel with other JETs because you are all booked on the same departure date and flight. If you have to quarantine, itll also be with other JETs too.

As far as I know, none. Just make sure you state in your application and that it can be treated/ maintained and importantly; it will not affect your work 💕
