  • THere is nothing like removing everything from a bike to remove a gas tank. But here it is. To get to the seat lock mechanism and even the starter this must be done.
    Got some extra gas money?

I remember almost a decade ago when my X-Max had a throttle issue, causing it to get stuck at full acceleration (and by issue I mean the rotating part of the throttle body to which the two cables are connected came out of its place due to a loose bolt). Fixing it meant removing all the bodywork to access the throttle body. It was a huge pain in the ass. Just be careful reassembling yours, and my advice to you is to sell that junk immediately after you fix it because there will be many mechanical failures afterwards. Once these scooters are disassembled, they're done for good. They're very reliable during the first couple of years but after that it's a steep downhill. Btw, you think this is badly designed? Try working on a BMW C600 Sport... That was a long ass night lol

don't be angry but your frustration at a few points made me laugh. you showed the other day what had to be done to get to the battery. I don't attempt any really involved stuff, but I don't think my '22 Vespa 300GTS is that badly designed.

from what i remember with vespas was that it was much easier. But my silverwing was also like this, it's the amount of body work they have. I wonder how much it would cost to replace the starter on this.

The reason to change fuel pump because it hasn’t been use for many years. So what you replace it then you will been fine with new one.

Now it’s time to give it a good wash before you put it all back together.

“Oh no there’s more”. Oh my! Poor folks not doing their own maintenance. Labor must cost a fortune even for the most mundane tasks on these scooters!

Absolutely, most shops charge per hour. But on these they just have to charge extra.
