    I think the ring to switch between auto and manual focus is way better than having a little switch to toggle. I do not understand why you say you have no choice but to use manual focus? I find auto focus is pretty accurate. I find manual focus hard to do because it is hard to tell if the shot is in focus by looking through the view finder (since everything is compressed). I find if I use manual focus many of the shots are slightly out of focus. Auto focus never lets me down. The video was very well done and I like how you speak and what you have to say. And you are so young! Well done Aidin. Well done!

    Keep doing what you're doing. You're already much better than 90% of the other vloggers/'content creators' out there. Great work and I'm about to click 'Buy' on the Ultra + Tokina right now. You answered my question with the Ultra vs XL with the Tokina.
    Much appreciated, sir!
    A note on the AF/MF ring; I actually kind of like it over a traditionally small AF/MF toggle. Usually those toggles are fairly small and when I'm looking through viewfinder/screen, I don't want to spend time finding where that freaking switch is. It's right there, all over the front of the lens. Can't miss it. The only downside that I've encountered is that sometimes I forget I'm in AF and when I attempt to rotate it I find it being, 'stuck'. But, at least I register that faster than wherever that small switch is on a lens body.

    Hmmm.... I work woth a Sony A6500 and now I've got the 10-18 lens... It's slightly cheaper thsn your set-up but has only f/4. And it has a good autofocus and an in-lens stabilizer... I have been thinging a lot what lems to buy for vlogging and finally I decided for the 1ü-18. I didn't know at that time about this alternative you are showing today. (Ans I assume I would have been needing an adaptor for the Sony E-mount?)

    In general the factor is not 2 but 1.6 (Golden Ration 1.618) if you have a 11mm with something like a APSC you get a ~17.8mm

    • @AidinRobbins
      @AidinRobbins  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's micro four thirds chief, the crop factor is 2. The speed booster is 0.64 making it about 1.3. Nothing in this video is APS-C

  • @homiethefish

    Have you come across an inexpensive wireless mic setup? It's almost 2am, whatever trickery is being done to make the lens on the shelf is awesome. Is it a composite shot using a second camera? That's an awfully long reach to place the lens on what looks like a narrow shelf, and never look over there.

    the Tokina lens is phenomenal for closed spaced like museums. You can stand just few steps away and captured a whole dinosaur in your frame and no flash is required! I'm also using it for group photography but I'm careful to place everyone in the centre of the frame to avoid distortions. I love this lens, very useful.

      stardomee do you have infinity focus with 11-16 + Speedbooster?

    • @stardomee
      @stardomee 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ivan: I bought my Tokina lens in used condition, so it came tested by the professional photographers of a photoshop I know (I live in the UK.) So I can focus to infinity but I'm planning to have all my lenses properly calibrated when I upgrade my Nikon D3200 to a more advanced model like D7000 that allows micro focusing in the settings. I'm planning to use either a program I found in the web for automatic calibration ('Reikan FoCal') or a cheaper option using a 'focus pyramid' for manual calibration. Sorry I do not have Speedbooster.

    Damn, thats still a lot money! Isn't the 7artisans 7.5mm F/2.8, that you had, a "pricier" choise? I mean it is full manual so there is no AF, but the tokinas AF isn't that good as you say, so, what would be your recommendation, all-in-all?

    • @AidinRobbins
      @AidinRobbins  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hey Aidin, I just got this lens and am wondering if you do use a tripod collar mount for this lens, when mounting on a tripod? Am concerned because as you mentioned in the video, the lens is quite heavy and I just don't want to risk stability and possible risky tilting forward motion for the lens and camera body. Thanks and take care in the meantime.

    What lens would you recommend for nature photography or just landscape that’s rather cheap for a budget... Just curious... I’ve taking my camera around everywhere I go but I typically just use my 50mm 1.8 and I’m wondering if it’s best or even good for landscape or nature shots... I want to build a portfolio and don’t actually have people to photograph so I’m thinking of just looking at nature and landscape. I’ve fallen in love with “light trails” so... I’m curious to a good landscape lens that maybe will work for nature/landscape plus possible “light trails” advice please and thank you.
