You brake late and miss the apex into turn 1, the ute capitalised on the mistake and moved up beside you. That's a completely fair challenge. But coming out of turn 2 you ran out too wide and pressed the ute to the wall, that's when you come together and the party is over. He had plenty of overlap (in fact he's in front of you), you should have given him the racing room, and challenged him into turn 3 with the inside line.
