    YES!!! I was googling multi-pass instead of cryptomatte this whole time. Chalk up #4 for the most important videos for FX and Graphics artists getting into Unreal. This is invaluable. I don't know how I missed it.

      Ha oh man great minds think alike. I've been asking some friends at Epic to add cryptomattes ever since they first added the new movie render in 4.25 so I was crazt excited to see it was there in their highlight reel.
      Great video as well are you going to dive into some more 4.26 features too?

    • @WilliamFaucher
      @WilliamFaucher 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@JonathanWinbush Haha indeed! I've been waiting for this for YEARS. So, so thankful that they finally have it. It's not a full-fledged cryptomatte, it's missing Material ID pass, and a bunch of other things, but it's a start.
      I might! I just started my channel literally this week, so I'm taking it one step at a time. I want to do some more Unreal-focused stuff, but also keep my channel more CG-oriented, rather than just Unreal-specific.
      Again, great video man, it's always nice to watch how other people do things. Keep it up dude!

      @@WilliamFaucher Yea I know they said a matte system was a highly requested feature when I kept asking for it so I think they at least wanted to get that out in this build but it actually goes deeper you can add more render passes to it such as reflections, depth, AO etc...
      Keep it up my man I just checked out your Art Station you work in movies as well? I do too but on the motion graphics side.

    • @WilliamFaucher
      @WilliamFaucher 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JonathanWinbush Yeah the render passes they have are great! But coming from a VFX background, they're limited compared to what you have in proper offline renderers such as Arnold or Vray. But obviously I am being nitpicky, this release has been a great one, hopefully more to come!

      @JonathanWinbush  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats a good question and something I need to check into

    • @griffithpictures
      @griffithpictures 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JonathanWinbush Just tested it with particles... which maybe I needed to do material ID instead ofObject ID, cause it didn't make a matter for the particle. But additive effects, it creates the object / material across the whole polygon, so parts that are transparent won't look right. HOWEVER.... if you throw in a translucency channel beneath your depth matte, you probably can isolate the additive material you want with that. So overall, a very useful function, thanks for the tutorial!
