This guy is authentic. I had the pleasure to meet him on tour and he was there to talk to his fans. He is awesome, and always try to speak to people and get his message through. Also, I just posted a picture with him on Instagram and tagged him and I did not expect his or thecolormorale's instagram accounts to like it, which they actually did. Awesome musicians.
Loved this interview!!! This band is so underrated in my eyes, I can't get enough of their music. I met Garret on the Rise tour and he is the coolest guy I've ever met. Thank you Crescendo for this interview!
Got to interview him on the ABR tour! Not to mention he remembered me from 3 years ago from scream the prayer and an In Fear And Faith tour! I got to catch back up on their headlining tour talking about 30mins after the show about life, religion, and everything else! Such a great dude
I envy all of those people who have met this incredible man, who gave us a reason in the message that they give for us to keep on going with our lives. Brilliant band, brilliant members, & brilliant Garret. Just brilliant overall. Thank you for uploading this interview!
I loved when Know Hope came out, Garrett was super supportive on the artwork I posted inspired by the album, now watching this, knowing his mutual disappointment with the 2nd silent hill movie just adds like 600 thumbs up
I love the color morale saw them live and really these guys are amazing live and chilled with them after the show hands down the best band I have seen and will continue to see as long as the tour and put new music out
Ive seen The Color Morale 2 times live, soon to be 3. Ive met Garret 2 times, once at a show and once on the street while he was looking for a starbucks lol. The love i have for this guy......... its just too much. (Also for people that dont understand why he looks at the ground or looks uncomfortable it's cause he have super bad social anxiety)
So this is just my personal story and amazing experience with Garret. Also in case Garret is reading this i was the kid that said jokingly you'll remember him as "the blind kid from Syracuse" The first time I saw them was April 18th 2015 at The Lost Horizon in Syracuse NY. So while in line I saw Garret walk by in a weird pattern, almost like yellow-ish and I think black camouflage, In Hearts Wake hoodie. When inside the venue I noticed that exact hoodie at the bar as Garrett was getting a sprite if remember correctly. I approached him gingerly as i didn't know how he'd react to some random 15 year old and his gf trying to talk to him. I ask "Garret?" He turned around and essentially pulled me up to the bar with him and we talked. It never felt like "one way street" conversation. He actually asked me questions like how i got into their music and what songs I relate to and like the most and to the second question I replied Smoke and Mirrors. We shared personal experiences and anecdotes. We even talked about my ambitions in finding a band. Garret told me he knew I'd get a band and he couldn't wait to hear what I was going to make. Ive had a few bands since then, none went anywhere, but im still going and one day ill make you proud! Eventually my failing eyesight came up and how I'll eventually go blind, then we talked about i believe, im still foggy on the details and I cant find sources online to help me get the info right, the blind girl tcm did a thing with. If i remember correctly her name was Darcy. We had person talk between him and I for nearly a half hour and he even bought my gf and i a soda from the bar. Then came time for the show and he had to get going. At one point in the show they started playing another song, i dont remember which one, then Garret stopped them and they proceeded to play Smoke and Mirorrs. Not sure if Garret did that for me or if they just started playing the wrong song, but anyways during the song Garret was scanning the crowd and then spotted me and pointed to me quickly. After the show we bought some merch and because they didn't have the shirt my gf at the time wanted in her size they gave her a free shirt and my gf and I proceeded to talk to Garret for a while as we where the last in line. The syracuse date of Warped Tour 2016 happened and TCM was playing. I remember crowd surfing and eventually Garret pointed to me but I didn't think anything of it because maybe it was just because he was giving a crowd surfer attention. After the show when the meet up happened and it was my turn in line to talk to Garret I didn't even get out a single word before Garret said in a concerned voice "are your eyes okay?" He remembered me and our talk and still to this day thinking about it makes me cry. This man that has seen so many faces, heard so many peoples stories and he remembered me and was concerned for me. I cant tell you how much that meant to lonely depressed 16 year old me that himself was struggling with religion and home issues. I cant tell you how much it even means to me still. Garret, if you end up reading this. You truly are one of the greatest and kindest souls to have walked the earth. Our talks will stay with me for the rest of my life truly. Thank you for treating a kid who was at the end of his rope as an equal. Thank you for treating me with kindness and compassion I didnt even get from my "family" nor God. thank you for just being the amazingly kind amd sweet soul you are. Though we have only met a couple times you really are like a brother to me and I love you as such. P.S. if we ever meet again, im buying us Taco Bell and im gonna have you do a feature on a song.
Oh ya man the most difficult songs to write are the most hardest And in his case and others and mines it's something u have to do alone like in a beach on the porch a quiet place somewhere where u can dig deep I would want to be a vocalist or write lyrics for a band and give them my ideas like this one Upon Modern Sleepers(Lives of Experience ) Final Pt We share Bones and Blood(by the fathers name) Music we heard has light so great(yet they see the devil) Reincarnated We....... Proved them wrong and sang our asses off (Here the words) Our pain.... Have u not lived in our shoes Send us off and separate U have written many things of the possibility It happened so clearly Yet u HAVE FINALLY FOUND PEACE U ARE FOREVER MY BEST MAN GOD WILLING I NEEDED U(EVEN THOUGH THE DEVIL) REINCARNATED HOW GREAT IS OUR DARKNESS HOW GREAT IS OUR LIGHT (Thank God our light shines through our hearts)

Put some music in the background of the interview, it gets a little quiet and awkward!
He's a "horrible speaker" because he has social anxiety.
