After Traxxas sees this video, they will magically introduce a switch for the light kits for only $28.99! 😄

      😂👍👍 Ahhh! Hahaha!
You ain't kidding Brother,Wiser words have never been spoken, their gonna copy this setup with the quickness, and then charge people out the wahzoo for it,😂 what would really be nice, would be if Traxxas would include a key fob style remote, with full light controls,high/low beams,
      separate light bar,and rock light controls,turn signal's,
back up lights, and possibly the option of a running light only selection,😁 Did you hear that Traxxas! Nod nod,Wink wink, lol
Outstanding Comment Brother, one of the best that I've heard in awhile,Many thanks KonaFocus.😁😎👊👊

RC After Dark do you know if we can get it to work via the app? They have a lights on switch with high and low beams and off.

    • @R.C.A.D.
      @R.C.A.D.  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Hmm! I've never heard about any app's for the lights,But I also live back in the sticks, and my internet is hit & miss,at best,😊 The on/off switches that I had used, were just a cheap & simple solution, too Traxxas not including any switches with their led kits,
And most of the time I'm recording video with my cellphone, while I'm driving my rigs,So having a app too control my lights, would ultimately be of no use for me,😕 fyi using a standard video camera is not an option for me,As I have to drive to the nearest town, and use my cellphone too upload any videos, having next too nothing for internet at my house, kinda eliminates the option of using a standard video camera, and laptop computer for videos, and uploading,😕😞
Which is probably another reason why I never looked into that option,My eyes would kinda be automatically blind, towards any app's,just for that reason.😕
But if the app works good for you my friend, then more power too yah! 😊👍 for myself,it's obviously not the best option,😁
Many thanks for your great question/information,and much appreciation for checking out the video Dustin.😎👍👍

And just too cover bases,I'm assuming that you are referring too linking the lights, to the Traxxas Tqi equipped receiver,And as far as I know,& unless Traxxas recently released something new,I had know idea about that option even existing,of integrating the lights into the tqi app,😕
I'm gonna look into real quick just too see for myself,I'll get back with you Brother 😊👍

      @R.C.A.D.  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well I just covered everything that the Traxxas website,& Amain Hobbies has,for Traxxas Tqi,and Traxxas trx4 lighting,😕 And other than buying a "My Trick Rc" trx4 lighting kit,or some other after market kits that come with a key fob remote,I didn't see Anything from Traxxas, that would link the lights up to the Tqi radio,or Tsm receiver,
As far as I can tell,No such option exist's for the led controls,😕

    • @R.C.A.D.
      @R.C.A.D.  4 ปีที่แล้ว

😎👍👍😊 That is So Awesome! on So many different levels,I'm Totally Stoked for you too my future Bronco Brothern! 😊🚙👊👊
You are going too love that truck,as long as you go into it knowing that you will probably have too replace the steering servo within the first few weeks,Unfortunately the Traxxas 2075 steering servo is known for pooping out early, and even more unfortunate,it has been like that since the first trx4 defender, and as far as I'm aware,Traxxas has done nothing to fix the problem,Other than sending you a new servo after you really put the screws too them,😕 lol
I Highly recommend getting the Traxxas trx4 "Complete Bec kit" and installing it before your 1st run,No Guarantee's, but it just might prolong the life of the stock 2075 steering servo by giving it a solid & constent 6 volts of electricity,
Which it doesn't get without the bec kit,😕 which could be a reason the 2075 quits life early, possibly not enough continues voltage,😒
You probably already know this judging by your comment, but I also have a video for installing the Bec,😊
Otherwise there is plenty of better servo options available,Much better & Much stronger too!😁
For a quick easy replacement,I would probably get Traxxas's red 400 inch ounce servos,
Can't quite remember the servo number, but I believe I talk about it on the bec or track install video,😕
I'm currently running a Savox sw1210mg waterproof servo,it's about 80 bucks from Amain Hobbies, and puts out 387 inch ounces of torque on 6 volts, and 444 inch ounces on 7 volts,I'm feeding it a constant 6v with the bec,and it works excellent, even with the track units,at 387 inch ounces of torque it doesn't even know the track units are there,😁note;the sw1210mg servo wire is a little short, and requires a 6 inch servo extension to make it into the receiver,😕
Reefs is another servo available at Amain Hobbies that put out some good torque,
Protek is another solid brand that put out some seriously crazy torque numbers,😁
One is about 150 bucks and cranks out over 600 inch ounces on 6 volts,😨😲😊
      Crazy powerful!
Also make sure too read any and all reviews on whatever servos you're looking at,👍
And also keep in mind, that if you get a powerful servo, you have to keep in mind, that with having that kind of steering power,it could be relatively easy too break or bend, steering,or drive train parts if something we're to get hung up,😕 400 inch ounces is strong enough to move the entire truck left too right if you were to hold the front wheels,😨😨😨😵 yep!
      Crazy strong! Lol
But seriously don't try that, you would be almost guaranteed serous breakage,😂 lol
      I'm rambling! Anyways
Thanks for your Awesome comment,Channel support,& for checking out my videos,😁
It is all very much appreciated Brother.😎👊👊👍👍

Many many Thanks too you my friend,Not just for your kind words, but also for your TF2 motor drop video,I referred to your video when I built my TF2 about 3 year's ago,it was very helpful with clocking the motor,😀👍👍
On a different note;I have friends on TH-cam that are currently doing a thing where they talk briefly about three other hobbies besides RC's,and tag three RC channels, and then those three channels, repeat the process by talking about their three other hobbies, and call out three other channels, and so on,I have two channels in mind too tag,but not a third,

Lol
And no on the Facebook group,😟 unfortunately my Facebook account is almost completely saturated with old friends that do nothing but judge me for having anything to do with RC's,😕 so I tend to avoid Facebook like the plague,😁 and also one of the reasons that I moved up north a little over a year ago,the internet stinks up here compared too down state, but it's a fair trade for not having too deal with all of the local friend drama concerning my RC hobby, It was o.k. for me to sit in front of a Xbox for hours,"Campbell1974a" "on Xbox"or too go out riding on the Scooter's,or chillin on a pontoon boat floating around, doing absolutely nothing but wasting time for hours, and hours, but heaven forbid if I indulge in the RC hobby, having fun driving tiny trucks off-road,while putting them through hell,😲 lol 😁

      Tuff too say Dave,🤔
I already had chargers, and batteries before getting the TRX so hmm!
      Truck; $500.00
Savox sw 1210 steering servo; $80.00
      Duratrax Oynx 8000 mAh 25c 2s lipo; $80.00
      Traxxas Bec kit; $38.00
      Traxxas led light kit; $45.00
      Traxxas Rock lights; $25.00
      Traxxas defender Roof basket; $12.00
      No name light bar; $20.00
      KYX aluminum front bumper; $25.00
      KYX aluminum rear bumper; $20.00
      3 Orange Neon sharpies;$10.00
Hitec 10 amp "duel battery charger"; $100.00
Traxxas all terrain track kit; $200.00
About $1,150.00 for everything, minus over 100 hrs of person labor,🤔
It would be significantly cheaper for a basic setup,
      Probably get the truck,a battery,and a charger for less than $700.00 🤔
If I may make a suggestion,If you are curious about getting a trx4,and are unsure on pricing,I would strongly suggest looking at Amain Hobbies website,Check out the Crawler's,and just start adding everything that you want into your online cart,And see what the total is,for everything that you're interested in,🤔
And then simply empty the cart after you have gotten a idea on pricing,😕🙂👍

WOW! Wasnt expecting that long of a list (lol) Thanks for your in depth reply!
That's what I'm worried about. I'm the type that wants to add everything! I owned this exact same real(or lets say full size) 1979 XLT Bronco (sad day when it was stolen 8 yrs later!!) Took me a year later to buy a 1986 XLT I owned for 20 yrs! I have been caught up in the drone rc's and now getting the buggy /crawler fever. While viewing MANY TH-cam vids, I decided on the HBX 12889 Thruster for my budget and type of fun I seldom have the time for these days. I realize these brands are day & night apart - no comparison. I did exactly what you are suggesting before I caught your post and added many items in my cart. The total $ keeps bouncing me back to a less expensive start. The fact that it is the once owned "Bronco" pulls at my wallet......
Again, AWESOME job on yours - and BEST post on TH-cam!

      Wow! 😨 I've never heard of such a thing,That's crazy! 😵
I suppose it could have something too do with running on 3s,😕 I'm not entirely sure on that,as I do not run 3s in my trx4,I feel as though 3s is too much juice, and just isn't necessary or needed for crawling,2s works excellent for my driving style,😕 3s is kinda overkill!
Yes the trx4 is raited for 3s, but once again,3s just isn't needed in my opinion, the trx4's perform excellent on 2s,and 2s is a lot less likely too burn anything up,7.4 volts vs 11.1 volts that is! 😒
Anyways,I'm sorry for the bad run of Luck Brother,😞 I would try getting a hold of Traxxas, and see what they have too say about it,hopefully they will hook you up with some replacements,😕

Also and "fyi" For anyone who is possibly reading this comment,The separate On/Off switch between the Esc & the main light "vehicle mounted" distribution block,Wouldn't cause this,or any real problem for the Traxxas lighting,or other existing electrical components,😕
Technically speaking,The only thing a On/Off switch would do,is interrupt the main power coming in to the main led light distribution block from the Esc,😒 So no harm done with the separate On/Off switch everyone,😊👍👍

      Right on Brother,😊👍
And fyi the correct classification would be 2s or 3s,not 2c or 3c,even though it is referring to battery cells, still goes by 2s or 3s,😕
For most of my crawlers I run a 2s lipo with a 25c withdraw rating, and around 5,000 mah or more,
The C rating is how fast it discharges, and also effects throttle response as well,25c is a smooth even steady current, the higher the c rating, the faster the discharge, and also more throttle punch,😕
Like for instance a 2s 5000 mah 25c lipo may run your trx4 for around 2 hours,And a 2s 5000 mah 45c lipo may only run it for 45 minutes, but it would have much more throttle "Snap" vs the 25c,But once again 25c works quite well for myself,😊👍
I run a Duratrax Onyx 8,000 mah 25c 2s lipo in my Bronco's,and they have actually never gone dead on me,even after 4 hours of run time,😁 As for 3s vs 2s,Well other than amping up the power, and there for extra esc Heat,The extra power isn't really usable or even nessacery,😕 having a 2s lipo with a higher "c"rating would probably be more beneficial vs more voltage with the 3s lipo,"Like say a 7500 mah 45c 2s lipo,😊 that would have all kinds of punch,I wouldn't exceed 45c with either 2s or 3s lipos,on the Traxxas XL5 esc,It may not ba able too handle that kind of Flow,😕🔥
      Good Luck Brother!😊

      @R.C.A.D.  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hmm, if I'm understanding you correct, Your telling me that you have a aftermarket battery for powering a set of led lights. Yes 😕
Or is that supposed to say Aftermarket Light Bar, "instead of Light Bat! 🤔?
You got me a little bit confused by how you wrote everything out.😕
But I think that you're wondering how to hook up a Aftermarket Light Bar to your battery, so that you don't have to power it off the receiver.🤔
Either way it's still going to be taking power from the battery,😕 so it really doesn't matter all that much.
At any rate there's a couple of different ways you could go about it.😕
#1 You could power your light bar off of a separate 4 double AA battery pack, "which is what I do, and believe it or not, those 4 Double AA batteries usually last for about a years worth of on and off usage, before they need to get replaced.😕
Or you could go with choice number #2
Which is powering it off of the Traxxas Esc,😕 There's a male JST connector coming off of the esc that normally goes to the Traxxas led power supply block, "and you could simply plug in a 3 way splitter between the esc, and the led power supply, and share some of the voltage from that output lead "before it hits the Traxxas led power supply"🤔 Which will work, but you have to be careful that your Aftermarket light bar is capable of handling 12+ volts, in case you decide to power your truck on 3s.🤔 The external power lead coming off of the esc, puts out the exact same voltage as whatever battery your using,😕 So if your running on a 2s lipo, that lead will put out 8.4v at the start, and then taper down as the battery starts to drain, "and if your running on a 3s lipo, it will start out with 12.6v, and then slowly taper down as the battery starts to drain.🤔😕
That external lead puts out the exact same voltage as your battery,😕 "which is why I use a external 4 Double AA battery back to power up my aftermarket light bar! 😄 Lol
The Traxxas LEDs "are a low voltage led set, and the Traxxas LED power supply is basically like a Resister, it lowers down the power coming from the esc, to right around 3v or so, if I'm not mistaken,🤔 That way it doesn't matter wether your running on 2s or 3s, either way "the Traxxas LEDs are still getting the correct amount of voltage from that power supply block.😕
Basically the easiest thing for you to do, is to Run that light bar off of a separate battery pack like I'm doing, otherwise the next best option, is to run it off of the vehicles receiver,🤔 "that way there's no chance of over volting your light bar "if you decided to run on 3s.😕
Separate battery pack, or running it off of the Receiver itself, is going to be your best options.🤔
Either way you decide to go with that, I would also recommend installing a simple On/Off switch inline to go along with it, "Just like I did" 😄 ha ha ha lol
Hopefully this was helpful for you... And many thanks for checking out the video my friend.😊👍

@@R.C.A.D. I meant light bar , sorry for the typo. I found a little wire that I bought a while ago and used it to connect the light bar to the receiver and now is bright! I just didn't want to plug the light bar directly to the receiver because i have another Defender body that already has the Traxxas light kit as well as the Pro Scale module installed. I wanted to be able to plug and unplug the light bar without having to open the receiver. Is working now though. I've been trying to find the right adapter to plug directly to my Traxxas battery to make it a little simpler. Since this is my first RC model I'm still learning. Thank you for the reply and the tips! :)

      Right on...😁👍
And since you're new to RC's I'll give you a little bit of advice; You don't want to hook anything else "directly up to your vehicle battery, Because if left unattended, it could very easily draw your lipo battery down below a safe level, "and you won't be able to recharge it after that happens.😕
As for being able to turn your lights on and off easily, and to give you a area to unplug the lights when disconnecting the body, I would recommend looking at a online hobby store, and type in the search area for a On/Off Switch,🤔 their usually pretty cheap, and also pretty easy to hook up in line with your lights,😕 My on/off switches have a male Jst connector on one side, and a female Jst connector on the other side, and it's pretty simple to plug it in "in-between" the Receiver and the wire lead going to your light bar.😁👍
I've got three of those on my truck 😂 One is for the Light bar, One is for the main lights on the body, and the Third one is for my Rock Lights.😁
It's been awhile since I've seen this video...🤔 But I think that I might have talked about those switches "in the video" at some point in time or another.😁👍

where and what part number is that on off switch??

    • @R.C.A.D.
      @R.C.A.D.  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ? 😕 Where!
Where, is mounted on the inner fender well, just in front of the ESC.
Part number; there is no part # It's just a Simple on/off switch, 😕 and I order them in bulk from the Wish app, But if you go to your favorite online Hobby store and type in the words "on/off switch" into the search criteria, you should have no problems finding one. 😁👍
It's a piece of cake really, just takes a little bit of effort on your part,😕
Of course you could simply Google "RC on/off switch"

Did you Not watch the entire video ? 🙄
All your answers are right there,😕
And no! It doesn't consume a lot of power, not only are they LEDs, but they are also low voltage LEDs,🤔
I also have my main lights, and the rock lights, on separate on/off switches, that way they are only turned on, when I want them on,🙂 which is also in the video, and another way to save power,👍
Normally I would say thank you for your great question, and say thank you for checking out the video,😕
