Michelle Ends Her MU Journey as She Fails to Make MU2023 Top 5, Breaking PH Fans' Hearts

- From the very beginning of the Miss Universe 2023 coronation night in El Salvador on November 18th, Filipino fans were anxious as Michelle Dee had not been called yet and there were only 4 spots left.
However, they were relieved when the Philippines was announced as the 17th candidate to make it to the Top 20, which was the 1st cut. Michelle's confidence during the swimsuit segment was captivating, leading her to advance to the Top 10 finalists.
During the evening gown segment, Michelle looked stunning in a gown inspired by a 106-year-old tattoo artist from the Philippines, which paid tribute to the country's cultural heritage.
It's a moment of shocked when she is not announce in the Top 5. Despite not making it to the Top 5 and failed to bring home the 5th crown for her beloved Philippines,
Michelle still won the hearts of many fellow Filipinos.

As a white guy from the US. Nothing went wrong with Michelle's performance. She did an incredible job and should be proud. She was in the top ten in the most difficult beauty pageant amongst some of the stiffest competition since probably 2018. It wasn't her destiny. But, that doesn't mean she doesn't have an incredible future ahead of her. Edit: included my nationality and race bc I didn't want people to think I was a biased Filipino fan that crushes us with their Internet presence and I included my race because the US has a huge Filipino American population. I'm not connected to their country in anyway. Just wanted to say, objectively, she did great and she, and her country, should be proud.

She didn’t fail. I saw the first top 5 list with her in it and her picture on the Miss Universe page and story then about 5 minutes later it was deleted and then they posted a new one with her exact spot replaced. I was also wondering how she didn’t make top 5 with that dress

They didn't want her in the Q&A portion because she would have blown the question out of the universe. She's a strong threat who had to be eliminated. Even Colombia who had the best answer wasn't able to be on the TOP 3? Oh well, Nicaragua deserves it, she came to win from start to finish.

Yup. I was so happy when Nicaragua was announced. The judges were definitely not in their right mind for choosing weak finalists in my opinion.

@@lbllouis I agree with you with her pouty lips, and I also think her gown was the problem, it is way too gothic for MU. She needs to please the judges before pleasing herself. As a guy, it looks very intimidating to me. It looks like dragon bones/scales on her skin, very distracting look tbh when it’s supposed to be gracious and smooth.
There should be a grand welcome back home fit for a queen! To the all the pinoys, she is the winner as she fought like a true warrior defending our country and raising the flag of the Republic of the Philippines!

More importantly, she gave hope to millions of Filipinos who were anxious about the “winning streak” of Philippine representatives in Miss Universe from 2010 that was broken last year.

I had her in my Top 3, and even thought she could win; so it broke me when she finished in Top 10. Michelle has given her 100%. The level of dedication she has given in her preparation and delivery is outstanding, and one that will inspire future queens. I'm very sure Michelle has a very bright future ahead of her, and I'd always remain a fan and follow her journey.❤

She did great. Gown is spectacular, although a bit similar to last year's winner in terms of graphics. BUT, if I had coached her, I would have advised her to smile big as soon as her country was called and take in the joy of walking the ramp. From there, she can give her smizes. Her aura would have been much different at first impact. But then again, it's all about one lady's destiny. Nicaragua just had that "look".

She did amazing! Michelle deserved a place in the top 5. The judges may have definitely been biased since I have no clue how Thailand got so far in the competition. Apart from her national costume performance, her stiff walk overshadowed everything.

Was never a huge MMD fan, but i could not help but support her for MU. She has grown so much in such a short period of time that she got me to be a fan. I think she killed SS and Evening gown and would have killed top 5 qa too. Never had a problem with her speaking, but always doubted her pasarela. Oh my god she brought it to the stage yesterday. There is a great story about the gown. It was unique and very different, but the question is, did the gown outshine the others? No question about the performance and how she carried the gown. The thing is, did it out wowed the judges more than the others. It is indeed a very stiff competition. We wanted her to win. Everyone did want to win. Maybe it was not really her time. I felt disappointed too but at the end of the day, she did her best and we all supported her. We showed to the world our solidarity. We are so proud of her…..
