@@NeilArcher i know what you mean. Some say its odd. For me its normal as well i can reach from a G to A with ease. Though my fingers are shorter and lil chubby lol. I got Elton John hands. Wish I had as much talent!
This is really not that strange; the majority of pianists can do that. Sergej Rachmaninov was said to have been able to reach from C0 to G1 with his left hand.
It's a baby grand, the keys are smaller ;)

At least an hour, and sometimes more than that. I loved to play when I was a kid, and I learned on organ and not piano.

Thelincolnexpress 1865 It’s just another way of playing the harmonies. He’s merely taking the third of each chord and playing it an octave higher. The chord can be rolled to avoid having to spread the hand.
I find it quite easy and natural to do, and I wasn't taught it. I just think using bass lines and octaves only is missing something. The way I play isn't really something I've thought a lot about, but based on the comments on here, I know it's not normal. If my technique helps others, i'd be happy with that.

I perform this piece alot myself on piano. It really a simple chord progression but I like the way this pianist emphasizes melody. I'm usually singing the melody so I improvise in between vocal lines.
