And my generation in the 80s. My buddy's dad was the CPO of the CG and we would camp there for days back when the whole island was nothing but woods... pity what they have done to the place...
I could just cry at what they have done to Peanut Island! I grew up playing on the beach on Peanut Island (70's & 80's), my brother used to run through the whispery pines and swing from the vines like Tarzan. We would camp there overnight and the raccoons would come in our tent and steal hotdogs, my mom and dad were married on a small sailboat about 15 yards offshore of Peanut Island. It's just disgusting to look at now, so sad!
I was going to comne t similarly, I grew up going over the bridge and enjoying how beautiful all the Australian pine were, it was a great place. Now so barren ugh.
Not captain joe miss Ita a great island and awesomr that you tried to make a cool video. But this is soooooooo inaccurate and kinda offessive! Please get your facts right prior to post fake stuff. Its been closed down due to port of palm beach and politics. You cant get on that 8 acre portion of the island illegal to tresspass. And next time do t use james as a guide. Hes clueless
Sorry - I definitely didn’t mean to be offensive in MY quick overview of Peanut Island (4/1/17) … And I actually made an extreme effort to provide accurate info!!! I was thoroughly impressed with the guide that took me through the museum and especially enjoyed the JFK bunker - the info he provided was very interesting! I honestly have no idea at all about your statement regarding that I posted fake stuff??? My amateur video has received 22,982 views with 102 likes and 6 dislikes - can’t please everyone. (I’m really glad I got to visit the JFK bunker before it was recently closed, and I do wish I had walked all the way around the island and ventured over to where the folks were picnicking…)
Thank you for this great video
Used to sneak over and onto this place in the 60's during the Kennedy years. Great times!
