Hm, strange - when I finished the game (also PC version) with a good friend just the credits appeared after 9:40 - but not the scenes where they visit some of the main places in the game (so as it was in the original as well).
Does somebody know the reason for this?
...could it be that this happened because he used a family account where some of the achievements have been missed 'cause of possible account changes when playing the game - or is there another reason for getting just the short version of the ending?

This is a cool remake. Too bad it got some bad press after release. lol
I think Square would be the right company to do a remake of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Well, this is nostalgic! So many years, I remember watching your old Secret of Mana video, and now, here we are.
How is the remake, by the way? I've heard some mixed opinions about it, but I'm liking a good chunk of what I've seen.

Well right off the bat I wouldn't recommend paying full price for this game until the bugs, performance issues and random crashes are fixed. That's the most glaring set of issues right now at the time of this upload. As for everything else; the English voice acting is"meh" most of the time and bad in some parts but at least they included a Japanese voice option (or you can just turn the voice volume all the way down). For the soundtrack, if you don't like the remake score you can always switch to a high fidelity version of the original. They added in some new scenes that play out when you sleep at Inns so now we actually have some much needed character development and interaction, which I think may be the best thing to come out of this remake. The combat's fine, its on par with the SNES game, it stayed somewhat faithful to that but the game does seem a little bit easier now that the characters have more mobility in a 2.5D environment. Plus I feel like they slightly lowered the amount of HP the bosses have. Anyways that's my 2 cents.
I guess the elephant in the room is still the art style. It's not what I wanted, I'm not a fan of the whole chibi thing but I think it was acceptable in the Final Fantasy 3 and 4 remakes as well as this one. I don't have a problem with it. I wanted the game to get the "Ori and the Blind Forest" treatment but the environments just seem to have an HD version of the original 2D textures plastered all over everything. if that makes sense. I'm trying to explain all this without having my morning coffee.

Hmm, not sure how I feel about this.
I played this game as a young teenager on my SNES in the 90s and it was probably the game which made me fall in love with RPGs.
I'll always remember it fondly and I'm glad to see it's getting some love.
... but this remake isn't done all that well. The facial expressions in the remake are not as good as on the SNES, they feel like emotionless, unmoving masks, whereas on the SNES they felt organic, convincing and conveyed the emotions very well. The voice acting is atrocious, did they dump the job on the cleaning lady who was around? It's really grating and breaks the immersion.
The graphics are nice, though. Of course, nothing will ever beat the charm of sweet 16-bit graphics.
