I guess it might have to do with language differences too, since in English love means both romantic love and love for family/friends. In my country there are two different words used for the two different kinds of love, so if I would give a gift to someone I "love" in terms of friendship, everyone would be confused and think I am in love with them.

@@Kat-qf7ov Where I live it's pretty normal, but only to your friends and people you know. You wouldn't walk up to a stranger and give them something though. Hope this helps! :)
@@coraline3361 I see. That's really interesting. In my country it is a day of love, so you are only supposed to gift the one you are in love with. I guess it might have to do with language differences too, since in English love means both romantic love and love for family/friends. In my country there are two different words used for the two different kinds of love, so if I would give a gift to someone I "love" in terms of friendship, everyone would be confused and think I am in love with them.
