- The Mirror Rod is a double pedal connecting rod designed to eliminate play and deliver an overwhelmingly smooth playing experience. By utilizing ball bearings, lightweight materials, a streamlined design, and concentrating the weight at the central axis, an extremely precise motion is achieved, eliminating pedal lag or play. An extreme ease of operation is achieved by a simplified pedal attachment and length adjustment design.

“What was the reason behind making it?” Well because trick and ACD have been making a better driveshaft for years obv
ACD shaft is way more robust. I've used it on my Yamaha direct drive doubles for two years almost daily and zero issues whatsoever. And they are cheaper(or about the same price) and you support small business not a megacorp.
E: also lifetime warranty
@@besticouldget definitely. I think Tama makes some cool stuff but to put this vid and product out like they came up with this concept is a bit cringey. TRICK was waaaay ahead of them on this. In fact, it almost looks like Tama used Trick's idea. I wonder if there will be litigation? th-cam.com/video/RGtlcqJBDdE/w-d-xo.html
Don't forget Czarcie Kopyto
Pearl used to be the only company i hated due to their sales pitchs about things they claimed to have just designed that other had been doing for years, now i will add Tama to the list of companies I will never buy anything from again. Support small innovative companies! not these bullshitters.
Should be fitted with all future pedals
Finally, ball bearings drive shaft from Tama. They should release Dyna-sync pedal equipped with it in the stock, but their greed can't allow it.
They must give it for free for all cobra/dyna owners lol because it hilarious what garbage they supplied with them
@ definitely
This is cool, but I too, as others have commented, feel this has been done and improved upon by other manufacturers over the last several years. I equipped my 2nd Generation Iron Cobra Double Pedal with the Trick Drums Retrofit Driveshaft about 2 years ago and that totally worked for me. It has a robust design…very heavy duty with a fast action. I highly recommend it, especially at its current price point. I did recently switch to the Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive and that has been a game changer for me.
I've already seen the pricing on this, and it's rough. I thought a big manufacturer like Tama would be able to be more competitive with the price against ACD instead of basically being the same price.
How much?
@@emanuelsosa9671 $250 US, supposedly.
@@emanuelsosa9671 $249 USD
Thats a bummer
At that price, you might as well just go all out and get a second bass drum.
Tama the best drum company ever,,congrats 🎉🎉🎉
Finally!!! Great job TAMA
Yes.. i've been using a Pearl Demon drive shaft on my IC pedals for years. This might be a game changer!
Let's see how it is. Would still reccomend the ACD Unlimited Drive Shaft.
As a owner of one, i have recommend to get one and also support small business! After two years still mint!
Finally they released something in this category.
Regarding the pricing of pearls double bearing drive shaft, the z link, it will probably cost around 200-300€ too. So the trick v6 drive shaft is still the best option 😁
Trick did this like 20 years ago
Then get a Trick one.
And they did it better.
Putting ball bearings in the drive shaft should be a standard. My brand new Speed Cobra's shaft doesn't have them and it's almost as loose as my 20+ years old Iron Cobra's shaft. It was unacceptable and i had to buy a drive shaft from another brand. This new Tama Mirror Rod should have been made years ago. I'm glad it's finally here, better late than never.
I use a Trick drive shaft on my DW pedals. It's a dream.
This is huge! Can't wait to order it! Talk about next level
Amazing! Flipping love Tama
Wow it costs almost 50% more than the Trick Drive shaft... I was not expecting this much overpricing.
I wonder how this will compare with the Trick shaft
Reinvent the Trick shaft from 9 years ago and put Tama on it. Genius.
A possible upgrade for my Iron Cobra pedal that I've now owned and used for over 40 years. Still going strong. TAMA the strongest hardware in the world.
This is about 20 years too late to make a difference to the industry, as people are already using this tech. You're now up to date with driveshaft technology from other brands.
Welcome to XXI century, Tama! But that thing is really cool, as i can see! All your clamps and cymbal holders etc are best, i love it! And now a drive shaft will make possible growing up in da hood for Iron Cobra!
Oh man, this looks good! Thank you Tama!
FINALLY! EXCITED TO GET MY HANDS ON THIS!
THANK YOU TAMA!! Iron Cobras will now be undeniable!!!
Good job, TAMA! I believe the next step is to use CV joints instead of cardan so the angular velocity of the mallet is to be constant.
wow, may I ask what CV joints are? It sounds like a good idea, can you explain how they would work?
since it's an aligned double cardan the effect should be neutralized?
@@Lauen Yes, but the mass of the middle shaft will have rotational jitter. Not much of a concern for this shaft as it only rotates a few degrees. However, CV joints would be more optimal, and gets my vote as the next level in pedal drive shafts.
Sweet! Hope a Black color option is in the works as well.
I have been using the same Iron Cobra double pedals for 28 years and they are perfect. So, this is irrelevant, I will keep using what I have. Glad they always made great pedals
This kind of thing is why, whenever I need any kind of hardware, I look at what Tama has first.
The Trick shaft is superior.
This seems kinda ridiculas. It took a couple years to come up with a universal joint?
I definitely want one!
we need a DIRECT comparison to the Pearl Z-Link (DS300A)
This reminds me of a Norm Macdonald joke.
Forget everything you know about bread. You got that? Now, let me introduce you to a brand new invention: Bread.
Isn’t this similar to Trick Drums’ universal rod?
“It all started when we saw ACD shaft…. Then we copied it”……. 😂
Skip this and buy the ACD ultimate drive shaft
I noticed that Eloy isn't using his one anymore though?
Cant wait to see the price for years of R &D...
I’ll stick to my Trick drive shaft
It fits in the hardcase? Seems thicker
$250 is still cheaper than DW's SP511 for the MDD pedals & the Z link for Pearl's Demon drives ($300-$350). The drive shaft has always been Tama's greatest weakness so hopefully the hype is real. Dyna-Syncs didn't live up to the hype in my opinion. The Demons still take the cake because of the short/longboard adjustments and you can easily convert them into separate single pedals. Game changer for a big brand. Also... I'm pretty sure the Cobra Coil is a scam! :)
the ACD Ultimate drive shaft (the best drive shaft) is 265 USD, making it the best purchase overall.
250 is asking alot
So….. it’s basically Tama catching up with Pearl Demon Drive shaft that was released a decade ago?! 🤔
Wow this would’ve been a blast 15 years ago 😂
Will it work on my Camco pedals?
The mirror rod should be supplied with the pedals. Not as a separate option.
The rotational axis being smaller is an obvious theory, but how big of a difference does that translate into how it feels? They didn't give any data on the weight and size of mass removed compared to the other designs. If a Trick or ACD had a 5" diameter radius at the u-joint, then yeah, this would probably be an improvement, but is that difference on paper going to be noticeable by anyone? The issue with the pin & block universals was always the slop they had right out of the box that would just get progressively worse as they wore. Seems more like a marketing gimmick aimed at Tama fan boys that will pay double for something with the Tama name on it.
Where is the link to buy one???
Are those Paul Seidel’s feet? 🧐
Will this fit other pedal brands?
couldn't stop staring at that kit
They should make an accessory that can cover the hole in the tomholder of the super starclassic, or return the huperdeive line.😢
I have the z-link(essentially a trick) on my speed cobra. should I swap to this or not?
No need, they are built better and if you for some reason need a new one check out ACD.
What will be the aproax price
Is this product compatible with other twin pedals as well?
Good question...
Where can I purchase?
Excelente
pearl and ACD created this years ago ... so where does TAMA "carve out its place in history" other than "being late"
I still dont like that cobras beater angle adjustment is prone to cracking.. hope you add a swivel to avoid forcing the circular cast deform in order to tighten
Cool
what the hell i just bought a trick connecting rod
🔥🔥🔥
Tama - Fire your marketing dept.
A double pedal connector ad, with no double kicks in the music. None. 🙄
Well, ...that's a feather in your cap.
What? Aluminium yoke and steel bearings? I believe in Tama, but steel much harder than aluminium and it can "cut" small pieces of aluminium (idk how write it right, maybe "steel was crash aluminium" or smth like that)
Product designed for speed: GENERIC ROCK BACKGROUND MUSIC THAT DOESNT SHOWCASE SPEED
Why I can see scratch marks from screws on shaft which price 200+$??? Tama, why you are trolling us so much?
Nice Rod - Goofy product name
Нуууу как вам сказать... Мне кажется это сделано хорошо, как и вся продукция Тама, но мне кажется это будет стоить слишком дорого. Я думаю вал трик или перл будет ещё долго доминировать на рынке
Better late than never I guess.
Hm.... 50% more expensive than the Trick ball bearing shaft. That's too much from a high volume manufacturer IMO.
Czarcie Kopyto, ACD and Trick have done this all before.
@@jeffreyalmeyda3598 Yep - even Pearl has one.
250 usd?
What? Are you serious?
@@sunscarredmusiche is, I don’t get their pricing for this.
@@sunscarredmusic yeah, i'm serius, that's the price
@ Sweet mother in the tarnation are they on about?! That’s ROUGH.
But if you buy pedals with it, it’ll come 100$ more expensive than with regular shaft, so there is the point.
200 dollar for this? c'm man, u need put it in the new pedals
Next up is carbonfiber. Lighter. Stiffer. More aerodynamic.
Haha sorry but this is so over with the top PR marketing spin, nothing revolutionary about it. Tama is so late to bring something out like this, should have been done ages ago. Pearl had their version 10+ years ago, Trick has been around just as long, they all use the same 4 bearing design instead of the traditional yoke.
$250 for this product when they are so late to the party.
The amount of boasting in that video, not acknowledging that "everybody" else have made ball bearing rods for years. The big "innovation" here being moving the ball bearings a bit closer to the center of the shaft for less momentum - I doubt it'll be something you can feel since the real momentum lies in the cams and beaters, not a small diameter shaft with its vanishing momentum in comparison. A real innovation would be a rod with CV joints! Who will be the first to make that?
It was a nice presentation but I did not hear any mention of machined components. I guess the unit does not have any of them
Allways Tama 🔥
Look, I love Tama. But putting together this extravagant video for a component that every other brand already offers is lame. Tama took way too long.
They take more time than other brands but every launch is a game changer, no discussion about that
@ there is nothing game changing about this. Tama still sells double pedals that can’t be converted into singles. They are years behind on pedal designs. I own a ton of their stuff including Star hardware (which are actual game changers).
I see this, and no, it's shitty, I'm a tama guy, but tje joints are just the same, look at the ACD one...
Wtf Travis why you had to buy my same chain, please be original
97th commentttttt
The ACD Unlimited driveshaft is 100x better than this thing.
cap 🤡
So everybody just uses ai voices today? So sad and boring.
Mirror rodaru, come on marketing you can do better than that. At least it’s not “The Tootsie Shaft” or “The Toey rod” I guess lol
