    Spectacular, that’s a fabulous image for the first one on a new setup. Kudos to you and thanks for posting. I’ve just bought this scope after watching TH-cam vids on the 130 and 150. I really am starting from scratch, with an old Sony Alpha 58 and an eq2 which I’ll upgrade very soon. Sadly, the box that the 150 came in, was filled with clouds which were released as soon as I opened it. Things can only get better...
    Cheers

    I love the super chilled video. You are right that it seems to be cloudy everywhere, either that or forest fires. :( Gorgeous image at the end and I hope you’re happy with the scope. I find balancing the newt with the camera and guide scope challenging because the weight isn’t in the same plane but you have the right idea hanging the camera down. It took me a while to work that out!

    • @AstroSoundscape
      @AstroSoundscape  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Mark yes indeed with all the awful weather hopefully more clouds and rain for the fires. Yes balancing has been interesting, I've been playing with a few different looks. I always think if that camera falls out pointing down😕. Glad you liked the vid mate.

    Ollie, that image of the Helix is really good for 3hr30min. Great first image.. Loved the piano again as always.. The Helix is one of those target tha I would love to get but it sits a little to south for me. Great job!!

    Hey Ollie, when I had my newtonian, I used to mount my guidescope on top on the scope. If you see on the back of the OTA tube rings, I believe that's a 1/4 screw. I moved that screw to the first ring and mounted my guidescope there with the dovetail that came with the guidescope. That helped me TREMENDOUSLY with balance! Anyway, just a suggestion my friend. Message me I you need an example lol. Beautiful image and live the music as always!!

    • @AstroSoundscape
      @AstroSoundscape  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Isaac yes I'm already onto that one mate. Used an old dovetail bar and mounted it on the top rings much easier to balance now Cheers👍 Hope you and Jason got a trip planned soon. We've got a few days of rain ahead.

    • @AstroSoundscape
      @AstroSoundscape  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks again Peter I can imagine that would be pretty windy right on the coast there. Great to have a viewer from South Africa thanks for dropping in.

  • @DSOImager
    @DSOImager 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice job Ollie. That came out real good despite the challenges. My Edge with the dew shield catches wind pretty bad. Anything over 6 mph/10 kph and I won't even bother with it. My little 70mm refractor cuts through the wind with no problem though.

    • @AstroSoundscape
      @AstroSoundscape  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks James, absolutely I'm much more conscious of the wind speed now. At least I can always stick the 80mm refractor back on for those breezier nights like you say.

  • @Astrolavista
    @Astrolavista 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like how you say you'll add some piano to make up for the image not being so great, then post up a really smooth nicely processed image of the Helix lol You're too modest Ollie :D Nice scope mods so far and the piano fitted nicely as always : )

    • @AstroSoundscape
      @AstroSoundscape  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Chris. So I actually processed the image after I recorded the last video, I was sure it was going to be pretty bad but the around 3 hours gave it enough umph. I just need my compression ring now, they must be popular.

    Great video Ollie! Victoria's weather has been dreadful the last couple weeks for astro so i was wondering how you got this in.... until I saw future Ollie at the end haha. Hoping to see more vids with the Newtonian as I'm also in the process of looking to increase focal length without breaking the bank. Continue the great work!

    • @AstroSoundscape
      @AstroSoundscape  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Tom thanks mate. Yes indeed the weather has been super frustrating I've lost count how many times I've setup only to break down an hour later. I still need to do a fair bit more testing with this(different objects types) so far I'm liking it.

    • @AstroSoundscape
      @AstroSoundscape  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a super little scope at this price Jeremy, sure there's collimation but at this price point hard to think of anything else you can get this level of image quality out of. Thanks for watching:)

  • @tichwykes
    @tichwykes 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'd be happy with that sadly that's a target that's hard to get in the UK as it's always been one I'd like to shoot, I've imaged with Newtonians on & off for a while now & I've never bothered with a fan on the back although if I were setting up quite quickly & wanted to get the temperature down on the primary mirror to ambient then I can see the benefits. I use an ST80 as a guidescope & have it mounted on a second dovetail on top of the scope & balancing has never been to much of an issue. Breeze is definitely an issue with them though so unless you can find a way of sheltering the rig that will continue to be problem on a breezy night.

    • @AstroSoundscape
      @AstroSoundscape  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tich. Overall the target came out better than I expected. Main reason for the fan was a friend recommended it helps keep secondary dew free without creating more of a wind sail. To be honest it never normally that breezy in my back yard but certainly like you say much more sensitive than my refractor. I like the guide scope idea on top makes a lot of sense for balance. Cheers.

  • @Mistr_A
    @Mistr_A 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mount your guide camera on top of the scope for better dec balance as it's directly opposite to the camera

    • @AstroSoundscape
      @AstroSoundscape  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm enjoying it so far, probably need to use it a fair bit more though to understand it with different targets. I've been hearing of those fires here on TV sounds dreadful, much like our season in 2019, hope you get the rain to help.
