  • "We need more parties. The world needs more parties. People need to break bread with each other."
This festive season, step inside the splendid, whimsical apartment of designer and superstar event planner, Bronson Van Wyck, as he talks decorating, hosting and entertaining. Bronson shares his tricks of the trade and tips for creating atmosphere, and shows Cabana Films around his theatrical space in New York. "In the midst of drama, we still want to feel safe," he says.
"If you can make someone feel like they're being hugged when they come into the room, you've won the first battle. Events to me are really a transliteration of emotion, and that emotion is love - to the degree that we're able to take a host or hostess's love for their guests and figure out ways to share that."

“I’m not giving my party when I’m in the room with a client, I’m giving their party”. That says everything about his excellence in being a great event designer! It’s not ALL ABOUT WHAT THE DESIGNER WANTS, it’s about what the client wants!
Hearing him say that, shows how important it is when someone says they’re a designer, but they only design what he or she wants, not what the client wants. That is a professional that you can label as an interior designer, not everyone who says they are an interior designer, are really designers.
This distinction between a real professional interior designer vs an interior designer who only designs stuff that they like.

YES! I've had two designers that I've had to fire because of this.

I love his sentiments and philosophy. This style of high art and antique items mixed 'casually', with plants, light, and bits of whimsy is one of my favorites. This was so enjoyable. Wish it was longer.

What an incredible human. So perfectly eloquent in word and in framing what he does. I was completely engaged in everything that he said and described so beautifully. The World definitely needs more parties. I can't remember the last time I felt alive and fully present at a party or gathering. This needs to change. I always watch Cabana content and feel a better more informed person for it. Thank you for your beautiful and so necessary vision for the World.

Having attended events that Bronson has touched, and each was incredible, memorable, and enjoyable. And Bronson himself is a great guy and conversationalist. I've always appreciated time with him. And he has a great Instagram! Keep doing what you're doing Bronson!

Americans used to party all the time; in the homes of one another, in cocktail lounges after restaurant hours, in our backyards with soft multi-colored party lights strung across the fence line. I agree. We need to get back to throwing parties including a variety of guests: Young old, interesting, kind, accomplished, still seeking their way - everyone.

I lived out of a backpack from 24 -40 years of age. Now in my 50's I have inherited a house. I never realised how much people's identities is about bricks and mortar. I didn't collect things for the first half of my life and I took pride in that. I do though love this channel, but... this guy has put too much emphasis on "things" that, let's be honest, unless they have a great monetary value, will end up in the rubbish dump once you're dead. Things do not make a life. They can make it pretty, if you're going to live in a box for 50 - 70 odd years.

His "things" are in deed beautiful but I couldn't help thinking throughout the video that he is a hoarder, and elegant one but a hoarder non the less. Like fighting the battle of memory by exposing as much as he can of his life experience. I don't criticize, it's more of an observation of an individual and how he copes with life. I too believe in accumulating less things, but everyone has a journey and his is expressed like that. Whatever makes people happy.

Mind your own business and move on. Some people might not agree with your former rootless existence, but it doesn’t entitle them to belittle it.

Another sad example of the empty American aesthetic with its desperate approximations of English country curatorship, searching for heritage with kitsch faux antiquity.
