  • Hey everyone! Hope you're having a fantastic day! In this video, I show you how to "access" the timing belt on a 2000 Toyota Solara with a 4 cylinder, 2.2 L motor. I've gotta say- this is definitely one of my longer videos. But, this is a fairly complex job requiring more time for explanation. I hope that this video has and/or will help you. Please share and leave a like if it did! If not, please let me know what I can improve upon.
    Also! I wanted to mention how grateful I am to have almost 100 subscribers! We're at 91 right now, steadily approaching that milestone! I know it's a drop in the ocean compared to other TH-camrs, but it means a lot to me. Thanks to all my supporters!

    The fact you were able to explain how to get the timing set up for a new timing belt in under one minute deserves a standing ovation.

    I'm guessing on the timing belt breaks on this model Toyota it doesn't damage the engine. I found this video because I just had a timing belt broke on my 2000 Solara.

      That’s correct. It’s a non-interference engine.

      @@HandymanSam That's the exact engine and year of my Solara. I've got 257,000 on it and everything works except the timing belt now. I love this car.

      @@RadReelingFishing it was a great car when we still had it in the family. Eventually the cars transmission went out a year or so ago and would only drive in reverse.

      Hey man, thanks for commenting! I'd say it has been, but ya never know. Sometimes, they'll leave a little, rectangular sticker under the hood on the top frame. That'll say when it was replaced, if it ever was.

    I had a question... if i was changing the alternator wouldnt the belt just come off as i was taking the alternator off as well. Would i be able to change it then too??

    • @HandymanSam
      @HandymanSam  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, just be sure to adjust the tension for the belt.
