    CORRECTION!!
When I mention the reverse on the gyro, that is to reverse the gyro operation, not the steering operation like I show.

hard is exactly what you stated. it assist the steering controls so you can keep an angle and learn to counter steer. imo its counter productive and creates bad behaviors for rwd drift. green on the other hand is exactly what you stated again. it kicks you out and allows you full control of the angle instead of giving you that "extra time" to react and counter steer. IMO if you run a yokomo v4 you should only run and learn on green mode.

If someone is just starting, I'd highly recommend Normal Mode and Hard(Red LED) with gyro set between 80-90 percent. This will allow you to transition faster and won't hold you back.
If you have the V4 and your servo wobbles at these settings, you need either a better servo or to turn up the torque value on said servo, if it's adjustable.

I know this is an old video, but it helped me with my initial set up for my V4. So thanks for that! Also, I didn't see it mentioned in the comments I went through, but I'm pretty sure adjusting the setting on the transmitter is actually switching between normal and assist modes and there was just a translation issue in the manual. From what I've seen on my car hard mode acts just like assist and soft mode feels the same as normal. Also if you pick the car up and check the return speed for the gyro, soft is fast like normal mode and hard is slow like assist mode.

    • @RoadsideRC

Hey Troy, your reviews and experimenting with other brands from Yokomo, ReveD, Futaba, and low budget gyro are awesome. Truly helpful. Knowledge is power. Would like to see you do a full review & demonstration on the Onisiki flagship gyro the Daruma 3-axis high performance gyro model #ONI2804 from explaining its capabilities, programming, settings, S.Bus purpose, using it with a low budget servo (digital or analog) and using it with your most favorite go to servo - etc. I would definitely watch that video and I have other friends that would like to know your personal views on the product. Our RC drift group is not budget friendly. Sky is the limit with us. We want what’s best for our cars and it’s experience, we just want a honest review about the product and it comparison to the other servo you have used or owned. It would be truly helpful… continue using the kiss theory (keep it simple & sweet) …

Yeah boss it is understandable most people are budget friendly with this type of hobby. Our RC drift group are all prior military and our mindset is go big or go home. From collecting guns, vintage cars, RC’s , and the list goes on when it’s about going all out. If your going to enjoy something might as well just go all out to truly enjoy the moment and when I was stationed in Japan I started off small and ended up at the top but I was spending to much money to get there. With the past experience and lessons that I have I know now that it’s much cheaper to go all out then starting off small then working yourself to the top. I’m just glad the beginner stuff I kept were in great condition to sell and for me to buy more advance items in this hobby. Many guys have said in this type atmosphere that its better to start off big then go small but do your research first. . When you have the top of the line items you never want to look back. My friends and I just go straight to the top but like to see other peoples review, personal views, and opinions of hot products before jumping into the fire or our newbie getting their feet wet.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

In this video, I show the Futaba 4Pm. Great controller. A no-regrets purchase that will do everything you want it to do.
      Link: amzn.to/3PFV5lS
It is expensive though, so you can always step down to the 3PV. It does 90% of what the 4PM can do, for a cheaper price: amzn.to/3wLhc2V
You are looking for something with a 3rd or 4th channel that you can manipulate in a 0-100 way. The other benefits include a controller with exponential settings.
You can start with a cheaper controller, but will find yourself eventually upgrading.

Question: you mention at one point the hard/soft channel is connected to ch4 and then later in the vid you mention the gain is connected to ch3. Is that accurate? I have my gyro on ch3 and the default knob on the transmitter for ch3 is the VR1 knob . So it sounds like that is just for hard/soft mode, so if that’s the caseI’m not sure how to adjust the gain as ch4 on my receiver is empty. Any guidance? I’m sure I’m just confused lol thanks again for all your vids, helping me progress, really appreciate it.

      Hi there!
      A few notes:
      1) I must have mis-spoke (it happens). There is nothing plugged into channel 4. Gain is set via channel 3. And yes, one of the modes can be switched by having channel 3 in positive or negative. The other setting is a physical switch on top of the gyro.
      2) You mention a TT02D. Are you doing a RWD conversion on it? If not - you do not need to worry about a gyro at all. An AWD drift car does not need a gyro.

    • @RoadsideRC

A screen is not what you need. That is not the important part.
What is important is a channel that you can control 0-100 in fine adjustments.
The DumboRC radios *almost have this on channel 5 & 6. You can control it there - but you have no precise control.
Yes - you can get started with this gyro and that controller, but you will want to quickly upgrade controllers.

That can contribute to it for sure.
My old RMX had a lot of slop in the rod ends. Reducing that slop helped with wobble for sure - but will not eliminate it.
Going to "assist" or "AVCS" in Futaba language is a game changer in my opinion.
It just get a negative connotation due to it being called "assist".
