Thank U! I’m excited to make mine! I was given 🪵 today, from a tree that was taken down where I work. It makes my heart happy knowing I am able to make something new with it. This project will be possible w the help of your excellent tutorial!

Anybody spotted the bug at minute 4:42 on the right side of the log? I am actually looking for how a log needs to be conditioned to avoid bug infestations and proper treatment for using as an exterior bench...

just fill the split with resin....would make a great looking seat plus not wasting a perfectly good piece of oak

Thank you for the tutorial ME! I do have a question though. Why the knife at the end? You did all that work and then bam... new hole. I dont get it.

funny, an old retired coaching friend asked me if I could make him one like this....but he wants to keep the bark. If the bark is solid, is there anything I could do to keep the bark from falling off?

That will look cool! The piece I have had moss growing on wooded sides.

Look up “HomeMade in Lviv” live edge projects. He taps in wedges to pull the bark away without tearing it off, then drops in some epoxy to glue the bark on permanently.
My two cents to you, two years too late.

When I finish making the table, it shows some traces of mold, moisture and cracking. How do I fix this thing, please help me

How’s this thing holding together? Red oak isn’t the best choice for outdoor work. Neither is a mineral oil finish. Curious to see how it’s doing.

Do you seal the bottom to keep the wood from cracking?
I'm making oak table tops and I used urethane for a ni e deep reflection of the grain. I did a couple applications on the bottom. Will that keep the wood from spliting

What about gloves? Considering you take all the other precautions… why do that when you grind and weld…

3 weeks?? That's not enough dry time.... It can be out there for 5 years and still be at 30% humidity...... you gotta get it down to 12% or lower And it's still got BUGS!! OMG....
