My Argos BTR gen 2 10-40x56 got delivered today. This weekend it's going on my 223 heavy barrel bolt action. I shoot more prone off a bipod than I do from the bench. Either way a second focal plane high magnification optic is what the doctor ordered.
I bought a second hand Athlon as it was unused and cheap. Have been shooting @100 yards using x30 and getting better results (0.3" 5 shot groups with .223) vs my Vortex Diamondback Tac FFP 6-24x50, which I've shot @1000 yards. So far, very happy with the quality for the price. One advantage is the 1/8" MoA adjustment as the distances increase and you want to keep groups in the V-Bull and SubMoA...
I have the Athlon Argos 6-24x50 that cost $399 and cheap Vector 6-24x50 that cost $189 and the Vector blows the Athlon away in image quality when set at maximum magnification. The eye box is a lot nicer on the Vector as well.
Is it possible that Athlon Argos BTR had a parallax issue? as I find it disappointing to say the least that a scope half its price has better detail at x40. Especially as your pervious review called it a possible Hawke killer? th-cam.com/video/xcWW-Eejkto/w-d-xo.html
How far away are the targets?

I have both the Argos & the Sentinel 10-40
I agree. The Sentinel is clearer & brighter with a smaller reticule.
Very unusual.

This proves Athlons are way overpriced for what you actually get.
@@commonsense5709 I’m looking into the sentinel. I’m doing pcp pellet gun and .17 HMR would this be a good scope for both ?
@@MetalDetroit Should be fine.
@@commonsense5709Can I use Vector Minotaur for 222 cal? Thank you
Very useful for a bench rest tyro - Thanks!
What was the tracking like for the vector 10 - 40?
Sightron
Buen video pero....catastrófico por el momento movimiento y iluminación de los blancos....que pena
Mueller 40X.
Vector scopes give more performance per money, definitely.... 😅

Vector optics are much cheaper to buy and have nicer glass than the Athlon scopes throughout their lineup.
You are not doing any justice to the Athlon scope. Your other video is the same way but it's still way better than what you are putting forth here.
