I'm no longer using the snow file from 'No More Blurriness' or Ivy's Default Snowflake replacements. My game lags really bad when it snows even without these mods, but these mods were making me get pink soup super frequently.
Hello! Thank you a lot for the video. It's greatly helpful but what I also need to mention is your beautiful British accent, I love it so much! It was a pleasure listening to you.
Hi thank you so much! That’s lovely to hear🥰 I will probably do an updated version of this sometime this year as some cool new mods have come out since. So nice to hear you like my accent, its from Sheffield, Yorkshire although I don’t think its very strong
I've tried my hardest to like Sims 4 and I have so many mods that my computer is beginning to cry but there is just no personality. Sims 2 was my main game, the only reason I couldn't go back was due to story progression and I wasn't a fan of rotational play, but now there's a story progression mod for Sims 2 so I'm coming back lol, these videos helped so much because it's hard to go from Sims 4 graphics to a ten year old game but the gameplay is just superior compared so I need 2 back in my life. Thank you 🖤
I know this Video is a bit older, but I just wanted you to know that I followed almost every step of that video and now my game looks awesome! Thanks to you I`m having fun with sims 2 again, your comtent is great! :)
Aw thank you! I love to hear it! Im so glad! Ive actually made a few changes myself since this video like switching to Cinema Secrets Lighting mod and stopped using reshade so I may do a 2022 version!
I can't believe it's been 20 years since this game came out. I really wish i could go back and experience how it was when i first played it. It's so depressing to see how much of a cashgrab The Sims 4 has become. The gameplay is also so extremely shallow. Typically i'll play the game for maybe 30 minutes before i start to lose interest.
Hello, I hope you’re having an amazing day! This video was so helpful. I’m new to playing with mods in the sims 2 and I am unsure how to install/use default replacements for cas, like hair and clothing. Maybe you could make a video on this in the future. I’m sure I’m not the only one confused! Thanks.
Hey! I'm sorry I'm only just getting back to you, your comments go stuck in held for review! I'm glad you found my video helpful and I'm flattered that you'd like another video like that from me. However, I don't use default replacements for hair and clothes at the moment - I'm not sure why, nostalgia maybe. I struggle to find replacements I like enough to completely override the maxis stuff. I like to base makeovers on what original maxis stuff they had to get a hairstyle and clothing I feel reflects it. So yeah I just stick to additional hairs & clothes instead of replacements at the moment. However, PleasantSims has a good video about default replacements here: th-cam.com/video/6Ow1VIIHVUM/w-d-xo.html
I downloaded the terrain replacements and it hasn't changed in-game? only the strangetown, no grass. i don't have any other defaults and have also reinstalled the game.
Which ones are you trying specifically? Neighborhood terrain replacers are different to terrain paint replacers. If you’re trying the terrain paint one, you won’t see a different on your normal neighborhood grass but you can use a replacer for this as well as the terrain paints, and I recommend Nopke’s
I know you said it would be hard to do a tutorial for installing reshade, but I can’t find anything reliable and I do install reshade and it shows up in my game, but it crashes everytime before the neighborhood fully loads.
When I was reading about using Reshade in The Sims 2 they said that installing Reshade as DirectX9 causes crashing neighborhood. You need to install it as DirectX 10/11 and enable Vulkan on the start. However! It didn’t work for me cause I have old computer with old graphic card so make sure that your card can handle it.
The mts page for the lighting doesn't even have that big instruction thing anymore and even if it did, it still wouldn't get me to install it manually lol
@@LeighPlays783 I don’t think it would come to that but you could always make a copy of your game files as a backup so you can put them back as they were if anything went wrong
i'm using the lighting mod and for some reason when it comes to night time, the street lights are blindingly bright (outdoors only) and it literally feels like a flashlight shining directly at my eyeballs. It's very hard to see. Is there a way to tone down the brightness of light sources outdoor??
Ah wow sorry to hear that, I’ve never noticed that before! Are you sure you installed it correctly? If it’s possible it might say how to tweak the settings on the mod page so just have a read but I don’t know unfortunately. Tbh I’m considering switching to the Maxis Match Lighting mod because I’m pretty sure Gunmod’s makes weird pinky/red/purple patches on the terrain
Why wouldn’t you be able to use the mods? Its great that you can install it and it work but that doesn’t mean you should, applying the 4gb patch will give you better performance and a better capability of running more mods & cc, and with graphics rules maker you’ll be able to play in the resolution of your monitor and have smooth edges and make the game just generally run and perform better, so you might not need to but you still probably should
@@BellaDovah I thought I can't use lighting mods because you said I might get yknow "the purple soup" or something (I forgot what you've mentioned in the video). But I can definitely use mods though!
@@SammaLlamas ah right well that wouldn’t be because you’re on windows 7, applying the 4gb patch and increasing the texture memory with graphics rules maker reduces the chance of getting pink
No. That is not allowed. It is against the creators terms of use and is very disrespectful towards them since they deserve some recognition, if nobody knows who makes their mods because they download them from others indirectly, how would creators ever get likes, encouraging comments, follows and donations? I will never share a mod file unless it is made by me or I have edited it in some way.
hello, i installed horizons for the sims 2 and put in place on the map but when i'm on the lot, i don't see this (in the settings i turned off the range of effects horizon) help me pls
Hi if you check the download page you'll see instructions of what to turn your graphics settings too such as view and fade distance and also some recommended lines to put in your userstartup.cheat file. I have these two in mine, which may help: boolProp dontMergeNHFlora false uintProp lotSkirtSizeIncrease 120
i installed sims 2 already, using oldgamesdownload, its running good n no lag. i have a mod to fix feet shadows. can i use the rules maker still or do i need to uninstall my game bc usghhdjsb lolol
Not sure, sorry. Depends if some mods require the latest EPs that aren’t on Mac. I would have thought most of the mods here would not have EP requirements so most of them should work for Mac but I really can’t say for sure
Are you editing the one in the right location? Its the one inside your documents not your program files. Also, enable show hidden file extensions, you may be accidentally changing the file to be a txt file instead of a cheat file without realising, the extension needs to be .cheat for it to work

i love how the sims 2 community has decided to call missing textures "pink soup"
Where do I find the video of the cas for the camera mods you use for the cas? In the description there is not?!?!
