It was so nostalgic to see the city I grew up in and walk the streets, I was walking almost every day, with you. Btw the basilica used to be a part of a huge TV and electronic factory my father worked. Inside that tower was an animation studio wher in the 60s the first Lithuanian animation was made. Happy you are falling in love with Kaunas.
I really love your videos ❤ lightness, great energy and effortlessness just shines through it all 🌻🌻🌻and finding videos about my motherland just made me so happy 😍 Kaunas is my favorite town in Lithuania, maybe because of all those years spent there as a student, then getting my first proper job there,or maybe because this town really has it's own charm, no matter how long one stays there. Thanks a lot for making these videos and the respect with which you describe your suroundings, wherever you travel ,it just shows what a great person you are yourself ❤. Best of luck and good vibes to you from Lithuania 💛💚❤️ 🤗
There is a joke running around, that there is only 1 good thing in Vilnius- the highway to Kaunas :D p.s. Lithuanian, born and bred in Kaunas, but been living abroad for 20 years (USA, CT and Norway). Your videos about Nida almost made me, a grown man cry. So many sentiments. Sea side is amazing, the pine forest mix with dunes and sea. The smell of sand, pine trees, jod (chemical element that sea produces), is tranquillic. It is kind of a memory just like you had about your time with parents in ocean side of usa, i believe cape cod and whatnot. Im quite sure you had a few tears running when you were sitting in Smiltyne beach.
Hello Laura :) so great great to see you for a third visit in one of your favorite cities Kaunas :) , i proudly can say that your love to this beautiful city are keep growing and growing , you was full of happiness and joy during this amazing trip , especially i loved those moments then you was visiting the highest bazilika in the whole Lithuania , view from the top of bazilika is so wonderful and lovely :) , also on your first day you was passing through the church in Laisvės Alėja where i was baptized , my favorite building in a whole Kaunas , it's very good to see that you tried the most famous beer in Lithuania called Volfas Engelman , i was so suprised bc you was standing right in front the big beer factory where my dad works , i really enjoy it while watching your amazing adventure for the third visiting in heart of Lithuania aka your favorite city Kaunas :) i believe you will come back for more adventures in this lovely city :) thank you so so much for this amazing video and for all the amazing and warm love that you're giving to my hometown Kaunas :) you're truly wonderful person , can't wait to see you in your new adventures around Lithuania , take care , bye :)
Hope you visit Pazaislis Monastery. It's an example of Italian baroque architecture. It's supposedly the largest structure in Lithuania. It was built in 1662. It's on T Masiulio St. 31 Kaunas. Open 11:00am - 5pm. It has a very interesting history.
I think that the fascination with Kaunas among many people stems from it being probably the most 'authentic' Lithuanian city, whereas, say, Vilnius, is much more multicultural. The reason being that during the interwar period when Lithuania was independent, Vilnius had been occupied by Poland, and thus Kaunas became the "temporary capital" city, which means that it was most subject to the tastes of Lithuanian elite. Other Lithuanian cities have much more foreign influence. For example, Klaipėda is a wholly Germanic city, having a lot of Prussian sensibilities. On the other hand, Šiauliai is the most typical "Soviet" style city, as most of it was destroyed during WWII and had to be rebuilt by the Soviets. Whereas presently the "new/modern" districts in Vilnius are built in a Nordic/Scandinavian style. I find it fascinating how the architecture tells us a lot about the most influential cultural norms of the time.
These views from Panemune bridge were so amazing in late September/early October as the leaves were starting to change colors... November is less attractive but very beautiful views nevertheless!
The detail I was stuck on in the whole video was the crow on 13:07.. Rewinded maybe 5 times to figure out what kind of animal was that. First thought it was a cat, then a puppy, a rabbit..
Hi Laura, just back from a day trip to Kaunas. Thank you for sharing your favourite (correct spelling🤣) places which made our trip memorable. Regards rob
it is so nice to see that You loved this city, because I myself am from Kaunas, and love this city sooo much, so I am very happy, that people from other countries loves it too! :) Also, I'm interested what do You think about people here, were they friendly and helpful, or maybe You had some other experiences? :)
You made my day, Kaunas is amazing. Also, next time You visit Kaunas and there is a Euroleague game, let me know, tickets on me and @Edgaras K I guess :), or all we all contribute, but you need to see Kaunas people being so passionate about Žalgiris as of craft beer and delicious Lithuanian food.
There is a 5 second segment that needs to be edited out- toward the first third of the video. I believe that it shows Luc’s head from behind and to the right. It was dangerously close. Only soliloquy allowed
You chose wrong game :) Euroleague match or game vs Vilnius team would show more real Lithuanian Basketball feeling. :) try to go, when Lithuanian team will play :)
I figured most people would say that, but that was the only game that was on while we were there. Although I've heard they're not exactly doing so well in Euroleague this year?
@@laura-bronner they are not doing great this year, but still atmosphere is different in these games as I know (I am from Vilnius so I support other team, but still I watch other Lithuanian teams in European tournamets), because attendancy is much higher in these matches (sometimes it is even sold-outs), so it is diffrenet feeling from the one you saw :)
@@GeneratorOfDarkness Very bad taste. How on earth You can compare a city with one of most hustorical and large old towns in Europe, which is in Vilnius, hills, parks, forests, skyscrapers, milions of lakes, which is also Vilnius...with provincial boring Kaunas. This is not even normal.
Cool video … Go Kaunas go….
So happy to see you're enjoying Lithuania! Definitely visit Pazaislis Monastery next time you're in Kaunas!
Hello friend
I tend to judge a city by it's walkability and it's green space. Beautiful walk you two had.
Kaunas definitely ticks the boxes on both of those things!

Kaunas is where my mother is from. I'm an American from Chicago. I hope to visit Lithuania in my lifetime.
That was quite a walk 😯 I am so happy you're enjoying my city ♥️
Kaunas is a great city for walking around. Less overwhelming than Vilnius.
From Kaunas you should go towards Jurbarkas... Panoramic road + few old scastles.

It's nice to see Americans enjoying my beloved city :)
If you want good atmosphere in Zalgirio Arena you have to go to a Euroleague game. Its allways full and the atmposhere is one of the bests in Europe .
Yep, Euroleague game is a must-visit in Lithuania.

Kaunas as favourite Lithuanian city? You really have to be nuts to say something like that.
Many foreigners prefer Kaunas over Vilnius.

Simple. Vilnius is quite fake and "touristy". Kaunas is the real Lithuania.
