Not really...a lot of these are real, and planes are usually not as expensive as even good cars. You can easily get a very old, yet still flyable and usable plane for as low as 1500USD (which doesnt include licensing, transportation and registration, as well as maintenance, that is enough to bankrupt someone already).

Interesting.........currently in process of shipping a 747-300 a friend bought off eBay from the UK we are turning into a sim. It is an old JAL airframe. Needs some cleanup but overall in amazing shape as me and 2 friends were over there last week pulling the expensive stuff out to ship separately. Again everything was in amazingly great shape. So do your research and communicate with the seller before buying as with anything on eBay. There are plenty of good sellers out there. If they don't communicate then that should be a red flag. BTW my friend paid no where near this for his cockpit and it is a 747 one.
