It does have a lovely, gothic, comic-booky design. Up until the Nolan films, it was my favourite design…but my personal preference is for clanky and grounded, which is why my tastes currently run to the Tumbler and the muscle car/tank from The Batman. Thanks for writing!
Nice review! Two things on '89 release dates: the extra details were first added to the AMT/Ertl kit in '92 as part of its rerelease for "Returns," and the Aoshima 1/32 kit was first released in '98.

@@scaleicons I know how you feel, there are so many contradictory notes out there it can be impossible to sort them all out. I only know for sure on those two because I happened to have both (I still have the Returns car, the 1/32 Aoshima was sold off several years ago). Thank you, and I do appreciate it!
I might be wrong but I think the PowRracer Batmobile on the right at 4:37 is one that I built! It’s actually very similar to a Tamiya 4WD car built for track racing. The gold bumper wheels are used to guide the car during a race. I haven’t raced mine. It’s in the closet somewhere.
I built the ‘89 kit when it first released in the UK - or at least as soon as I could get hold of it! I have another one in the stash, as well as the mail-away cocoon. I built the 1:35 Bandai ‘89 in 2005, and it’s a gorgeous kit. Thanks for these brilliant videos!

I did build the AMT 1989 Batmobile, by far my favourite. I'm surprised we don't see more models of the newest Batmobile, only the 1/35 Bandai one as far as I know. I want a 1/25 version...
I built the AMT 1989 Batmobile when it was first released…I have very fond memories of that kit, and am thinking of looking for a re-pop. I built the Batman Forever kit as well in 95…another great kit, my only let down was that the hubcaps weren’t molded in clear styrene. Then again, I don’t think lighting was as much of a factor in 95 as it seems to be now. I too wish there was a 1/25 kit for the new movie.
The 89 is my favorite of all the batmobiles. I have the 2015 kit and the new Bandai kit. The 95 is one I can do with out, always hated that one. The 97 is the car I dislike almost as much as the 95. I like to pretend the Schumacher films never happened
The 89 is a great design…and it used to be my favourite. But as I’ve gotten older I’ve gravitated to the more grounded designs from the dark knight trilogy and The Batman. I’m not a fan of the over-designed Schumacher designs either.
I'd like to invite you to m y channel I've build several Boatmobiles, from the 1980, 1989 and the 1995. I put my own interpretaion on them with Lights and sounds. I'd be very interested in you comments to what I've done with them. I appreciate this video it was very informative.
