Brucy tells you after the mission where you track and kill Lyle that the LCPD is cool with you doing that. Basically allowing you "vigilant" mission in a similar fashion as Roman handles the taxi mission. I forget if there's a similar system for "Paramedic" and "Firefighters utility I doubt it since the game play is more grounded on reality
@steverogers9452, yes I remember that, I'm not even a "bike" person but it made bike-riding more fun/realistic. In 4, I remember something as simple as being able to do a burnout and using the left/right arrow keys on PC you could slide the vehicle left/right. In 5, it just spins the tires but won't shift the car directionally. The physics in 5 are absolutely ragged compared to 4 which actually needed some work because some of the suspension etc., was way too soft yet in 5, certain normal, "unmodded vehicles" can be flipped over just steering the vehicle at speed because of the terrible physics. It reminds me of some people's poor modeling skills in GTA 4 where they tried to make new models to import into the game and the vehicle would near instantly flip over, making them undrivable.
@NordicGrizz_2, it's horrible in GTA V! The fact that an NPC in an "Issi" can "get mad" and ram into you whilst you're driving a dump truck and it does almost no damage to that tiny car. -_- I've had them go nutz and knock a larger, heavier vehicle around like it's nothing. We know R* also programs the AI to cheat so that when you're in a heavier vehicle, suddenly it becomes "lighter" and enemy AI get fast, heavy vehicles. You can try ramming the Merryweather goons' Jeeps and it's almost like hitting a brick wall, even after you've blown them up.... I've also noticed that when on a mission, your vehicle tends to do far less damage to NPC vehicles. When not on a mission, even accidentally ramming into their vehicle causes "instant ped death" but during a mission, the same impact causes little damage and they just continue to get in your way, may even turn "red" and attack you.
I think the idea behind that is vehicles took too much damage from little crashes and it made driving to needed locations very hard(at least for the devs, can't say the same for players) so they did that in gta 5,handling has much the same reason
Playing nerfed GTA V on the Xbox 360 back in the day is the reason I got into PC gaming and modding. With mods you can basically make a game how you pictured it in your mind before release, even better sometimes
Go play BeamNG or gran turismo for realistic physics. I don’t want my car totaled into a ball because I accidentally hit a fire hydrant on a GTA game, then it’s not fun. And I can already hear the oh jUsT gEt bEtTeR bRo, mf, everyone crashes, nobody drives perfect 100% of the time and especially during high intense missions, you’re going to eventually. That makes it less fun. Sometimes you need to stray further from realism and more into arcade to keep people playing. That’s why Forza and Need for Speed is far more popular than realistic sim racing like BeanNg and iRacing, because it’s for the people, not tryhards who want to feel like they are in a racecar

I'd hope that's not "realistic" and rather just R*'s terrible coding intentionally causing projectiles to MISS the target they're locked onto. I've had the "Buzzard" lock onto targets and the missiles just fly above, below, behind, in front of the target, then suddenly one hits.... Just horrible. Idk if it's different with "aim-assist" as I always use "free-aim" but It's like the path of ammo rounds, they purposely force rounds to miss the target mimicking RL "recoil" etc., so that in some cases, you can expend 15-30 rounds just taking out one AI enemy because so many of your rounds are "missing" the target despite the reticule remaining stationary.
Also injuries in GTA IV. When you beat someone who they got shot. They would be alive, just unconcious (they would slightly move). If they were shot, they had a chance of getting up and attempting ot walk away while injured)

right, for 2006 it definitely felt a lot more organic in every way compared to 5 especially the water and human/car physics. Of course RDR2 has the most realistic water and physics of any Rockstar game.
Also a very small thing when exiting a car if you tapped the button the car stayed on, if you held the button if shut the car completely off. Gta v the car always turns off when exiting.
A true genius is never appreciated in their time. GTA IV did so many things right. Niko, Johnny, and Luis were the archetypes for Michael, Trevor, and Franklin
I like to think that modern games doesn't have this kind of features anymore because the dev team spend too much time on making things pretty and more realistic graphicly, while in the past the devs just use to have fun with what they have, and they use to have the enough time to explore every single part of the engine

The Buzzard does not have tubes, but rather a semi-capsule arch where it has many missiles and they are released by gravity. Same for Gta 5, and obviously different from Little Bird

This is because GTA IV was at what we call graphics capacity during that time. Meaning when you’ve maxed out the ability graphics wise, you get to focus on gameplay and detail. Many games have been like this throughout history.

Also a very small thing when exiting a car if you tapped the button the car stayed on, if you held the button if shut the car completely off. Gta v the car always turns off when exiting.

I like to think that modern games doesn't have this kind of features anymore because the dev team spend too much time on making things pretty and more realistic graphicly, while in the past the devs just use to have fun with what they have, and they use to have the enough time to explore every single part of the engine
GTA IV also have the superior Ragdoll Physics which is Euphoria unlike GTA V.

I believe V also got Euphoria, just got toned down.

GTA V people DO react to rain (they lay down the head and there are some dialogues complaining abt the rain too)
its actually more realistic for NPCs in GTA V to not get out umbrellas as it doesn't rain often in LA so people likely wouldn't have umbrellas with them

1-The rocket model is an WW2 rocket for fighters planes such as the F4U (Pretty sure is HVAR)
2-The rocket dosen't "drops" like that, IRL rocket pods are just like guns they fire rather than eject or drop the rocket

I played GTA IV first (after SA and VC and bit of Chinatown Wars) and the driving is trash.
GTA-IV driving is fun but it's not good at all.
Because they suck at driving... GTA 4 actually forces you to slow in corners and time your acceleration, like real life.. GTA 5 is arcade driving.
The driving is decent but not as realistic as everyone says it is.
4 is goated... was such a massive jump from the ps2/xbox games... Then 5 came out.. it did improve some things well.. but was a bit ambitious for the ps3/xb360 era it came out during im guessing why some things took a back seat to 4
Yep, GTA V had to run on the 7th Gen consoles. GTA IV already ran bad on the PS3 and Xbox so it makes sense to cut back some few things
They should've put these missing details when they decided to port it to modern consoles/PC but that would just be too much work.

I feel this with a lot of modern games, sure the graphics are better but the attention to detail that truely gives them depth and makes them come alive is just missing
I do like the rocket model of GTA 4, but I don’t like the delay. Rocket pods fire the rockets forward out of the tubes, only missiles on fixed wing aircraft drop like that
The Buzzard does not have tubes, but rather a semi-capsule arch where it has many missiles and they are released by gravity. Same for Gta 5, and obviously different from Little Bird
Gta iv driving was amazing. And if you added a driving physics mod it was unbelievable

I used to drive in high speed and crash to see how much dmg I can do to different cars and it was really fun

This is because GTA IV was at what we call graphics capacity during that time. Meaning when you’ve maxed out the ability graphics wise, you get to focus on gameplay and detail. Many games have been like this throughout history.
If gta vi ever release there would be gta iv physics and look better then gta v

The NPC in gta 5 do react in the rain. They start walking fast and walk weird.
Meanwhile in Cyberpunk NPC gets stuck everywhere sometimes doing some Skyrim level of glitches.
