      OK IF YOU JUST WANT TO GO ON SHORT DISTANCE. AND THATS IT . THAY NEVER EVER SHOW HOW FAR THAT CRAP WILL GO WITH 4 PEOPLE AT NIGHT AND WITH THE HEATING AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON AND LOADED UP WITH LUGGAGE. ALL YOU GET IS A 5 MIN DRIVE PRAISING HOW GOOD IT IS . LETS SEE ONE ELECTRIC AND ONE PETROL OR DIESEL . GO FROM CORNWALL TO SCOTLAND. BUT THAY WONT DO THAT BECAUSE THAT WILL SHOW HOW USELESS ELECTRIC CARS ARE . THATS A FACT THAY WONT ADMIT

    A simpler way to do the 400V to Sine wave AC conversion: Use an off the shelf Variable Frequency Drive (VFD). Takes 400VCD in and produces any desired AC output including 3 phase AC. Look in any catalog of VFD drives. There is no need to convert to 12VDC.

    5:30 Maybe you could encapsule the compressor a bit with noise canceling material, like a jacket, similar what Tesla does now around. Or a kind of closed rubber housing out of 10 mm textile reinforced rubber or so. Just some ideas.

      I really admire the work that you guys do to convert these classic cars into very usable modern electric vehicles. The installations are works of engineering masterpieces. The Jensen Interceptor in that colour is sensational, and with an electric powertrain will be sensational. I also like the Porsche 356, so understated, but amazing performance in EV conversion. Great video Richard, showing the diversity and abilities of ECC. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿😎

    • @Tarry_Plaguer
      @Tarry_Plaguer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, you can see it pretty plainly at the beginning of the video as well as around 3:09. I remember Richard saying he really hated how the Countach handled when discussing Lamborghini in one of his other videos. I believe that was with the IC engine in it though. I don't know if he has an EC conversion done or not. Since we see it up on the shelf I would say maybe not. I think his biggest gripe was weight distribution, correct me if I'm misremembering. 🤔

    That Merc rear axle is also a "swing axle" like the Beetle only slightly more sophisticated if I remember right - seem to remember an extra coil spring in there. I am referring to early Mercs and beetles - before they changed to the "constant camber" suspensions at the rear.

    I have a great admiration for your engineering skills and entertaining content. However, it nearly brought tears to my eyes when I saw the magnificent Porsche 356 and the Ferraris today. I think you should have mandatory counselling for these clients before they make these decisions on important and beautiful cars. These are pieces of history. Even if the owners keep all the redundant parts, they will never be returned to their former condition.

    I wonder if the shop uses components outside Tesla? I guess you have the software worked out so you do not need other software tuned.
    My favorite is Jensen hands down. It is not the most beautiful but also practical liftback apart from most practical Derender having a brick beaty look. All others are pure stunning toys.
