Swami Kriyananda Answers: "What Happens When a Person Dies?"

- This is a question most people have and wonder about, but it is not at all a mystery for some.
Swami Kriyananda explains that when the body dies, the emotions/feelings we have remain after the heart stops and the senses shut down. Without a physical body, these remaining feelings are all the more intense without the “thick wall of flesh.” The feelings of a negative mentality (jealousy, hatred, anger, etc.) are intensified. Likewise, if you have lived a good life, your bliss and joy after death is much greater.
Swami Kriyananda explains that this world is only an imitation of the astral world and the higher heavens.
ABOUT SWAMI KRIYANANDA
In 1948 at the age of twenty-two, Swami Kriyananda (J. Donald Walters) became a disciple of the Indian yoga master, Paramhansa Yogananda. Yogananda is best known for his spiritual classic, *Autobiography of a Yogi*.
In his book he recalls his experiences growing up in India and his life in America. He writes of meeting the great spiritual master Babaji, and how Babaji reintroduced the life changing meditation technique of Kriya Yoga. He tells of his life with his guru, Swami Sri Yukteswar, of his guru Lahiri Mahasaya, and his meeting with Anandamoyi Ma.
Yogananda moved to America and developed the energization exercises and taught the meditation techniques of Hatha Yoga and especially Kriya Yoga.
At Yogananda’s request, Swami Kriyananda devoted his life to lecturing and writing, helping others to experience the living presence of God within. He taught on four continents in seven languages over the course of 65 years. His talks, his music, and his many books have touched the lives of millions. An advocate of simple living and high thinking, his more than 150 books emphasize the need to live wisely by one’s own experience of life, and not by abstract theories or dogmas. A composer since 1964, Walters has written over 400 musical works. His music is inspiring, soothing, and uplifting.
He taught meditation to thousands and has initiated many into the life changing technique of Kriya Yoga. His books and teachings on spiritualizing nearly every field of human endeavor include business life, leadership, education, the arts, community, and science. He wrote extensive commentaries on the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita, both based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda. He is known as the “father of the intentional communities movement,” which began in the United States in the late 1960s, fulfilling Yogananda's dream. Ananda is a worldwide movement to help individuals realize the joy of their own higher Self.

The same thing which happens to all sincere seekers of truth. The prana (life-force, or conscious cosmic energy) begins to move inward and upward toward the brain-it is quite often perceived as a great light. When I say something I will do it.
It is important that you know there will be no more money made on human lives. It stops now people will receive the medical attention that they need. Whether it be a broken toe are open heart transplant. Let it be known your loved ones will receive the care that they need.
There will be education for all that seek to better their lives. Education is the foundation for a better brighter future for anyone that is willing. therefore if you apply yourself you will be able to attend any college you desire.
Pollution will stop. There will be no more the depletion of our natural resources. Meaning we will become 100% green energy country there will be a future for our children and our children's children. I will not only put an end to big oil. I will be taking down all nuclear power plants. This will not only insure our future. It will create millions of new jobs and bring in a new era of technical jobs that pay.
The time has come to take the drugs off the street. There's no reason for children to be subjected to things like drugs. In this day and age they have enough on their plate. It is it's time we help people that have a drug problem. We can't keep filling the jails with our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles. Doing this has not been nor will ever be a solution it is only dragging us down as a nation.
At the end of the day be assured that your hard work was not in vain. You will keep what you earn. The days of paying income tax on your hard work or over. The wages of yesterday will not support the needs of today therefore you will be earning a fair wage that will support you and your family.
I will impose a flat tax on everything we buy. Excluding food and food products.
I will take the federal government out of play on the issue with marijuana. I will ask that all states legalize and tax it appropriately. At the same time giving an average individual the chance to own and operate a dispensary. The days of a few Monopolizing an industry are over.
I intend to turn every home in America into it's own power plant.
Giving every American a chance to have a little more.
It's time that we take control of our government. I intend to cut government by half. There is no need to to employ lazy criminals/politicians. American's have to work everyday. Therefore so should the politicians we employ.
As for the bad men of the world you are done. There will be no more terrorizing people. Anywhere. My first day in office will be dealing with the chaos that has taken place in our country. I guarantee everyone will return to their homes willingly. War will end and the killing will stop. There will be WORLD peace. ......................... VOTE for The AMERICAN PARTY. ...

Exalted states are available everywhere and even more at times when listening to someone like Kriyanada speak or in community with spiritually like minded persons or in kirtan type singing and afterwards at the end of the day to find the longing lying on one’s back in bed to travel the path to the spiritual eye and to commune and share these things in spirit in thought and in feeling with God.

I strongly suggest this man who is very genuine at heart and I respect . he should look up " ishwar puri" on path of radha soami. The 5 thieves your talking about only leave the body at inner state called " trikuti" moon stage. The " suksham" body or " asral" .body is where the senses originate from not physical. A guru can only take a deciple as far as he himself gone . there are 6 chakras but another 12 above eye centre which only a very few saints offer a very rare guru in the world. death is a reality and it matters even though it doesn't exist in the same way that life does. it's important to talk about death -- we all must face it, whether it is our own death or the death that faces other living beings -- and it is one of our greatest fears, even though it doesn't have to be. i agree with you that talking about death can lead religious beliefs into strange and stranger territory, but that doesn't mean we ought not to talk about it.

When we experience blessings, like the ones you are describing (and many people do!), it is important to pray deeply to God (and to your Guru, if you have one), first of all with deep gratitude, but then also that you might be carefully guided in how (or if) to respond and what (if anything) you need to do about it. the point of that chakra is to attain self realization in this life, its when you are no longer a human but a god indeed, see yellow glowing around saints head, that symbolizes the their consciousness is based in 7th chakra.
Why do one have to come back to earth after death? If I am everything (the source, the all seeing, God ect...) why are someone else like a spiritual leader or anything deciding that i have to go back to earth, forget everything i learned just to start over again. This dosnt make sense to me, if i have free will and i am everything already, why am i sending myself in this eternal loop of learning when i already know? To me it sounds like a spiritual hierarchy which in initself goes against free will.
I dont mean this ramble to be negative in any way, I'm just very interested in these topics and curious

Can somebody direct me? Ive had these experiences were it felt like I merged with ultimate source/God and turned into White light, one time it was absolutley the most beautiful intense experience Ive ever had, I felt like I was in Heaven and now made Holy, this feeling lasted hours. Then another time during this experience, my body started screaming, beyond my control, like I was going to explode, every scream disapated the White Light energy, still felt Holy after...what happened to me?
dear, it was satori experience, short experience of the self, its divine intervention, you had been a yogi or someone with good karma, you should start practicing kriya yoga and meditation, so you can withdraw your lower senses to fifth and sixth chakras so you can be in that peace forever, not losing connection with it in daily life.

So if u r a good person ,serving the society and dont practice yoga and dont have time for it will that affect ur post death journey or nirvana?
And if a bad person masters kriya yoga will that being without change of character will that person gain nirvana?
Still good and bad are same side of coin , if an bad person practice s kriya yoga in much more intense way he can able to master his own inner self and once the mastery occurs , can able to then control his outer senses , but such cases are very rare and hardly occur . The main point is to transcend both good and bad . the reason for not accumulating evil karma is that it will take eons of period of timr to get rid of and one has to suffer great agony .
I think kriyananda is missing a point, good and bad are abstract understanding of a human, let imagine you helped old lady to cross the road, then a thief noticed her there and stole her bag, but if you did not help her to cross road, thief would not notice her and stealing would not occur. you can say the same for the beggers, you give them money thinking you help them, but he goes and buys crack or alcohol for that money, so you did bad to him rather than good, so understanding of good-bad is also wrong in it's source, for the self (atman) there is no good nor bad, everything is experience, I think we must understand that, but i'm not self realized so don't take my words, think for yourself
As long as your intentions are good in serving someone or helping, you get good karma even if the person whom you helped misuse the same or if the person gets exploited. That's his karma

This is not Swami Kriyananda's opinion. These are the truths he learned by the God-Realized master, Paramhansa Yogananda. In Yogananda's book, Autobiography of a Yogi, he goes into depth about the astral world. My desire is to die why should I be grateful to god or the creator when I don't want to exist some see life as a curse than a blessing. If god is all powerful he must be able to destroy my soul my true essence. I hope that the afterlife isnt real for me and I can go to eternal sleep. after lot of incarnations no matter what you want or want to believe, truth is one and singular, it will not be changed by your wrong perception of it, it's just you will be damaged by your own ignorance, the point of yoga and meditation is that you will merge with your own self(god or whatever you want to call it) when that merge occurs, you will be in eternal sleep of joy, unexplainable strong, you know the experience of ejaculation right? multiply it by million and you get the understanding of gods bliss. our nature is sat-chit-ananda - awarness - conciusness-bliss, no love or thinking, no hatred or desires, just that three !

Here one "goes" nowhere because they Realize that they ARE all places, all things, all all. This later state references the "One True Death" which leads to SELF Realization. Here there is no more need to reincarnate. ~ Namaste ~
Dear Friend, Yes, you are correct in what you are saying. Paramhansa Yogananda (and Swami Kriyananda) explain that the 6th chakra (medulla/spiritual eye) is the place where the soul enters and exits a physical body until the moment of final liberation, when the 7th chakra is opened and the soul becomes fully merged into God, never again needing to reincarnate in a human body, unless as a savior (Avatar) which very rarely happens.

@@AnandaWorldwide Not an avatar, but as realized souls ; the word saint is more appropriate, even if something peoples use the word "saint" for avatar, for exemple in the christian tradition ; for exemple Joan of Arc was an avatar of Durga, not a saint, but peoples are not knowing the avatars concept, so they call her a saint. "Tulku" is the other word for saint, in buddhism, or Siddha in hinduism.
What does he mean by "people of your own type"? I get it to mean that he thinks death is a continuation of what we have here on earth? Our greed, envy, jealousy, attachments, etc? So we feel comfortable being among "our own type? I thought human consciousness was one movement..., death is the end of individuality.
We all all different in our personalities and karma. We are all part of God. Kind and generous people live at a similar vibration, and are drawn with other of people of a similar vibration to certain levels in the afterlife. People who are mean and angry go to their level. The death of individuality is the death of the ego and our final merging with God.

mahasamadhi you exit thru bregma. medulla is not ajna(back of head) it is a krestam. bhrum (point inebtween eye brows) is not the spiritual eye it is the anterior krestam of ajna. i dont believe yoganada taught this, i know lahiri did not. ajna is dead smack in the center of the brain. it is only preceieved at bhrum. when in samadhi you look down from the void and see the star at kutastha(ajna). you look up and exit thru bregma to perform mahasamadhi. you can exit thru medulla during sleep paralysis to astral project on this plane.
What if when you die you decide you don't want to exist anymore. Can you ask for your soul to be destroyed. If not can you go to sleep. When I die I want to die in the soul eternally. I think it's bad that you can be created and if you dont want live you have no choice and have to follow the rules. Eternal sleep is what I want no worries no fears no violence just eternal peace. I love sleep where I am unconscious the only thing is I have to wake up.
Sorry. The soul is individual and eternal. You need to find God to find eternal release from being reborn here.

Learn advanced meditation techniques and experience all this yourself. Just because your biology textbook or your physics professor says the material world is the only reality and there is no afterlife does not mean it is true.
