He deserved his position, great personality, charisma, and charm. Though Toys R Us is gone in that location, and soon likely the entire US, he's right, no one will ever forget the impact that chain had on them when they were operational.
Being a manager in retail this really sums it up, i never planned on doing what i do but I decided to move up because i had a realization that i dont love the company, i love the people in it. Everyone has their problems and it gives me so much pride giving my people an environment where they can feel like they can approach me with anything and not add on more stress than they already have at home. This video made me tear up and every store ive been moved to had me crying when i left my old one. I love working with people and i know its not as glorious as a doctor or astronaut but we really can make a difference in peoples live around us if we just be there for them when they need it.
Johnny, I'm also seeing this speech almost 5 years later. I remember opening TRU Times Square with you. I was the brown dude that played Bey Blades near the T-Rex and then later tried to unionize the store. I respect that you held out all that time and that speech was epic. I remember those 10 comments all the time even 20 years later. Thank you being you! Great memories!
Wow. I remember this guy and I miss this place so much. Johnny, you're an awesome dude, helped me get my gf her first job there. You seem like you were made to be a star.
I remember going here when I was a kid I was raised in New York City and I remember my family took me here all the time when we were done eating at Carmines at Times Square, we used to go here to get toys and that fun stuff etc When I heard about this I was a little bit sad but now I’m 22 years old
Johnny, that must've been a fun job, to bad I wasn't there to see it because I wish I did. I would also with to go to Times Square only the 1st of January 2016 to see how cleaned up it was.
This guy works at FAO Schwarz store now and I work alongside him! He’s awesome and very funny
Anyone here from the defunctland video?

This all seems like something straight out of a movie.
Is that Wolf on Wall Street?
14 years in Times Square! I can’t imagine that job had any slow days. Every shift must’ve been chaos..
i mean, they had to deal with protesting grandmas, pepper spray, and an antisemitic person in an elmo costume, so... yeah. never a dull moment.
@@monicaraybrandt NYC has it all
This is the most Manhattan man I have ever seen.
He’s more long island
BroO ima cry who else remembers going there and looking at that Ferris wheel and oMg memories 😪
Defunctland just made you a star all over again. As an ex-FAO worker (not so lucky to work NYC, but DC), you got it right on the money.
Rest In Peace Toys R Us
Dream Big Productions/Plush Bat Fan Toys R Us is now back in business.
i still watch this from time to time to remember how to be a good leader.
