How did you go about re-installing the clutch slave cylinder? I am nearly done with a clutch replacement job on a 996, and having a very hard time putting the clutch slave cylinder back in its designated hole of the transmission. To clarify, like you we didn't replace the slave cylinder because it was functioning fine and wanted to avoid having to bleed the whole system. Brackets, bell housing, etc. are all hooked up properly, but the slave cylinder is very hard to full seat because the piston is under a lot of pressure. Without being able to compress the slave cylinder some, we can't line up the bolts that secure it to the trans housing. Have done a lot of research and can't find a clear answer. Any tips on how you were able to reinstall the clutch slave cylinder? Appreciate it!

Jackie the mechanic said you essentially just have to overpower it and work against the hydraulic pressure to reinstall

@@tomgorelik We finally were able to overcome the pressure of the cylinder (man, it was awkward and difficult using floor jack stands and not a lift) but unfortunately afterwards the clutch feel was soggy and the car wouldn't properly shift into the lower half of the gears (2, 4, 6) even though it would go into (1, 3, 6, and R). Gear cables were okay and still attached so we think the clutch slave cylinder somehow got damaged. Planning to install a new one, bleed system, and reassess. Wish us luck.
