- Griffith Observatory is closed! But don’t worry -- here are 11 fun things you can see and do at Griffith Observatory without ever setting foot inside the observatory.
GOOD NEWS!!! I've just been told that as of 4/19, the parking has been reduced to $10.00 per hour!!

Thanks for tour...we are ready to go!
I hope you get to go! The observatory & the telescopes are now open, but I haven't had a chance to get back to see them.
That was super helpful, thanks for the fun facts about the artifacts around the observatory.
Thank you so much!
Very informative!! Thank you so much for posting!
Thank you!
Great video. Always look forward to your content. The observatory is such a great place for anyone to see. The things around it are great and people just don't know how nice it can be. Thanks for another good one.
Thank you!
Cool video, Jasmine. And very informative, too
Thank you so much!
Thank you for your fun and informative video...
You are very welcome!
You need to come back! The building is open now Weds thru Sunday, with planetarium shows: three different ones as of 12/13/22.
I did - it was great!! I loved the planetarium show, the Nimoy film on the lower lever, & the big picture! I loved the visual of the billions of years since the big bang. My biggest issue with the planetarium is that they don't have a space for rotating exhibitions. It's the new exhibits that keep people coming back to museums, and it would be really good to see that at the observatory as well. But I do love!
Great tour didn't realize there was so much at the observatory 😁
It's pretty cool! I'd never paid much attention to the outside before - I was always interested in what was inside. I can't wait until indoor things start opening up. I'm always a little jealous when I see you inside a museum ... 😁😁😁
This place is beautiful.
Thank you! The inside of tge observatory is open & so is the telescope, so I'm going back soon!
Awesome video and great tips!
Thank you!!
wow! such a great video!
Thank you so much!
I saw that you can take a bus up there too and so you can avoid the $15 an hour.
Thanks!! I tried it, & it was pretty simple to do. Coming down was a different story - I left about 45 minutes before they closed, and the Dash was having bus issues. So after standing in line for about 45 minutes, the last bus finally came & everyone packed in!!! I had a hamstring injury, otherwise, I would have walked down. But the bus is a great option! That'll be my go-to in the future.
Have you ever thought of coming to Albuquerque?
I actually have not. I've been to NM before -- we had relatives who were from Silver City -- but I"m not sure I've ever been to Albuquerque. NM is a beautiful state!
Great love it 😊👍
Thank you!
Nice video!
Thank you so much!
Great video. Love it
Thank you!
I can't think of this place the same way after that Bojack Horseman episode
The one with Sarah Lynn? That was really good. The comment about, "I always forget that there are more than ust the 6 stars you can see in Los Angeles," is so true. I think I've seen the milky way about 3 times in the last 30 years. I was visiting my sister in KY -- she & her husband live on a farm, and it's really dark at night. The space station was flying overhead, so we all headed out into the field. You could actually see the space station orbit! It crossed the sky in about 90 seconds. You'd never see that here in LA. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
nice!
Thank you!
Oh, back in my stoner days I would go there to catch a laser show
That must have made the laser show totally awesome!! If they still have the laser show, I'm going to try it!
@@JasmineApple,
They had a great sound system and they. would play their classic rock library

I live here and I’ve been there a millions times but it’s never open nor it there information on websites for prices and dates for the shows. If anyone has ever been lucky enough to go, I would appreciate any help

- Tap on in the 3 horizontal lines in the upper right corner of the screen to see the menu
- Tap Visit
- Scroll down, and you'll see a heading that reads, "Griffith Observatory is open." In tiny print beneath that are the days & hours.
On your computer:
- Go to griffithobservatory dot org
- Click on Visit on the menu bar
- Scroll down & you'll see their days & hours.
Been there twice and open both times.fascinating both inside and out. Rog. Pacific sunset records.

I loved your video, thanks so much, I'm flying from FL to LA this weekend and I'll go there.
Haha! The Observatory is now open, too. I believe that they also have the telescopes open in the evening. Have a great trip! If you have any questions, let me know, and I'll try to answer before your trip so that you will have the best time ever when you come!
you were fulgurous indeed thank you very :
Thank you!
@@JasmineApple you are indeed welcome :
How did i miss that damn place back on june 2019 😤🤬
October 2021 promise i come there
I don't know how you missed it, but be sure not to miss it in October! Definitely come at noon so you can see the Gottleib Transit Corridor in action - it's very cool! If you come, let me know how you enjoyed it!
Did you go?
Use to be free back when I went 96
I know it used to be a driving & parking nightmare - waaaaay overcrowded. Not sure if it's the price of parking or reopening that has changed that. Everytime I've been there, I haven't had to pay. And personally, I don't mind paying for parks or public places. Thanks for watching!
Parking is now $10 an hour.
Really?? When did that happen? I was just there 2 weeks ago, and it was $15, no partial hours. It's been $15 / hour every time I've been there this year. Were you parking at the observatory?
@@JasmineApple I work at the observatory, the parking price changed this week Monday ($10).
Awesome!! Thanks for letting me know!! I've updated the description to pass this info on!
@@JasmineApple the Observatory will open in the later days of the month of June. The governor is planning to make a public announcement on June 15th.
@@Polienaz That's FANTASTIC News!! Thank you!!

Hi Claudia, I just clicked on the link, and it said the video had been removed! But I checked out your channel and found the one called Hollywood's sign and Griffith Observatory. Los Angeles, California! Great job! I loved your editing, and it looks like you guys had a great time! That was an amazing shot of the deer -- good eyes for spotting that! Thanks for sharing!
@@JasmineApple Thank you Jasmine, thanks for taking the time to look at it. I am glad you like it!
@@JasmineApple I fixed the link, hopefully it works well now! 😄 Thank you!
12: Go and meet Dave
Wear one red and one blue sock .
Early in my working life, I had 2 pairs of identical high heels, in 2 different colirs. I commuted to dtla, so I left the heels in my car & put them on before going into the office. One busy day, I grabbed my shoes without looking & headed in. And you guessed it - I had on one black shoe & one beige shoe. I got a few odd looks, but almost no one said anything. To the few who did, I just said, "It's the latest fashion - I have a 2nd pair in my car!" 🤣🤣🤣
@@JasmineApple in the movie , Rebel without a Cause , at the end at Griffith Observatory Plato lays dead at the entrance Stairs . Dean's character sits beside him noticing he is wearing one red sock and the other blue.
@@mikewallace8087 Ooooooooohhhhhh!!!! I get it!! (Now that you've explained it!!). You're right, it should have been 12 things you can do at the observatory! I'm going to have to watch that movie.
I don’t like the idea of having to pay for parking. Born and raised in Hollywood and never had to pay. It pained me so much that I had ti pay $45.00 to hike and go site seeing. I know that the trail connects with the bat cave trail but still. The 15 dollar parking has really kept me away from the observatory. They demoted Pluto. They did Pluto dirty. Hahaha
Totally agree with you about Pluto & paying for parking! There's free parking off Los Feliz, & you can hike about 1.5 to 2 miles to the observatory - it's a pretty easy hike. Someone told me that they had reduced the price of the parking at the observatory, too, but I haven't confirmed it. Thanks for stopping by!
Every body wanna becomes famous
Sooo true!!
