    Nice video. Have been thinking about making a trip to the Kansai area and haven’t been able to decide between staying in Kyoto or Ōsaka. This video helps a lot. Like the idea of staying in Kyoto as you said it is quieter than Ōsaka.

      depends on a number of things like what time of the year you are going, budget, etc. Generally anything 3.5 stars and up you can't really go wrong with in Japan.

    Thanks for video. Great as always. Just a few question, hope you have don’t mind. We will be travelling to Japan in October. Which site do you recommend to buy the JR passes and how many weeks in advance should we order. We will be in Osaka for 6 nights, hoping to do Nara and Kyoto trips along with the Cup Noodle Museum visit. Do you have any other day trip recommendation on top of our bucket list for Osaka stay. Thanks in advance.

      If you buy the JR pass at a physical store in your city it will be cheaper. There should be a travel agency around that has them. I have always bought them in person so I am not familiar with the online ordering process. Just make sure you buy them before the prices go up. They are valid for 3 months so you can cheat the system a bit :). Nara and Kyoto are the two best day trips from Osaka in my opinion. Kobe is cool, and I really enjoyed their port area. I think Kyoto and Nara is good though if you are spending 6 days in Osaka, chance is 2 of those alone will be for Kyoto;)

    Hi Christian, I will be staying at Esaka Tokyu REI HOTEL which is close to Shin-Osaka and found your video super helpful by the way, thank you so much! Do you have any preferences or suggestions on areas to stay at in Tokyo? I'm 31 and will be in Tokyo for about 6 days and departing back to the states from Haneda airport. I would like to stay in an area (in Tokyo) where it's not too far from everything, such as scenery, food, touristy places (walking-distance but public transport is okay). I'm looking at prices ranges of no more than $100 a night so no nothing super expensive.

      I do in fact have a best places to stay video for Tokyo :). It talks about top 3 districts to consider for exactly what you are asking about. You can then search for some properties in those areas that suit your needs. Also have fun!!!! It's going to be amazing!

      @@sojournchris thanks, Ill check it out! I just reserved a room at Henn Na Hotel in Akasaka, Minato, Tokyo. Is this a good choice? Or should I look at other locations more south?

    • @sojournchris
      @sojournchris  ปีที่แล้ว

      Apologies for the late reply. That part of Tokyo is a very nice high end business district and Roppongi is also nearby which is a very popular nightlife district. However transportation is a bit more complicated as you have to use the nearby subway line. Not a big deal though. You have access to the Ginza, Marunochi, Chiyoda and Namboku lines that can intersect with most places or other lines like the JR Yamamote line that can get you to the popular areas.

    Can I have my hotel in Osaka and do a day trip to Hiroshima?

    • @sojournchris
      @sojournchris  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Absolutely, it's only 1.5h with the bullet train so you can totally do a day trip if you want.

    hi do you reco Mimaru osaka west hotel?

    • @sojournchris
      @sojournchris  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven't stayed there myself but based on what I am seeing it's a high end 4* hotel. You would be hard pressed to find anything less than a stellar property in Japan in that category/class.

    Can you recommend any hotels in Kyoto mid range? And Ryokan? Thank you

    • @sojournchris
      @sojournchris  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. If you don't need to be near the train station, The Gate Hotel Kyoto Takasegawa by Hulic is amazing. It transitions from mid range into expensive territory occasionally but you are a 5 min walk from Nishiki Market, you are a couple blocks from Gion and about 10-15 min walk from Kiyomizu which puts you in a very high value area.
      If you want to be closer to Kyoto station, Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto Ekimae Premier is also quite central to shops and Kyoto Tower. This hotel is also 4* but imo its a half step below the Gate Hotel which is also reflected in the price.
      As for ryokan try Tawaraya and Hokkaikan Ohanabo.

    any recommedation for accomm in Keita District for a family?

    • @sojournchris
      @sojournchris  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on budget and size of family. If there are a lot of people coming I would honestly look at airbnb. This will give you the option to rent an entire house which will be a lot more comfortable.
