It's really bad writing, because the only reason given here as to why Jakob changed sides, was because his team turned on him. Then like a switch he's instantly a good guy for no reason. Like, he didn't change his ways or anything. Just his plan went wrong and now suddenly everybody is cool treating him like a good guy.
Because Otto betrayed him.
