    I was going to write something here, as a deconstructed Pastor, but I see everyone below has covered it. You should take time to read them. These are the very people you are trying to reach, but like all churches, you do you own thing without listening. They are screaming at you telling you the VERY reason why they have stopped coming.

    There’s so much scandal in the church that is has become Babylon. Everyday there’s a preacher being caught in adulterous relationships, divorce, homosexuality, drugs and alcohol, having underage sex, gossiping about other preachers, preachers getting rich on the gospel and preachers attacking each other and accusing them of false teaching. Yet they preach to the congregation about sin and hell😳the problem is not Christianity it’s the people in the leadership and the pulpit.

    It should be to no one’s surprise that belief has decreased with the increase of information from the internet. No longer do people need to seek answers about their doubts from their pastor ( biased source). Now that we can do our own research. It’s the fault of the church that they can’t provide satisfactory answers.

    Number One Reason? Smaller families. How can churches expect to grow without children? Like much of the West, the average age is 47. I attended several local churches recently, after over 50 years of not attending any church. I'm 71 -- most of the people were within 20 years of me -- either under or over. 25 to 50 people in attendance -- maybe five, under the age of 20. The churches did NOT like those who asked questions or who dared to interpret the Words of Jesus for themselves. Which doomed the churches to mediocrity. I predict the END of Career Christians. They turned my Father's house into a multi-level marketplace.

    When the churches feed lies to the people about spirituality and salvation, and tell them that Jesus paid for their sins, and all they have to do is just believe, people no longer feel the obligation to be righteous. This is what has happened to Christians. Most Christians know little or nothing about the bible because they don't feel the obligation to read it. They think Jesus paid for their sins despite the fact that the idea of someone paying for the sins of others defies the basic laws of justice and common sense.. So, what's the point of reading it or becoming righteous. This is what they believe.

    I've resolved to basically find online sermons and practice faith on my own. Honestly, I just don't feel a spiritual connection with Church. I feel very disconnected and out of place. I'm single and unmarried which also makes me invisible within Church circles. People in Church aren't mean. They are kind and considerate, but its all very surface level. There are also Church cliques and I suppose that's always been the case, but at the same time I don't want to go to Church to feel disconnected and out of place. I want to worship in communion with fellow Christians knowing that these are people I can befriend and trust. I also want to go to a Church where I can be useful in some way, but it seems like they already have people to do everything. I know this may sound horrible but I feel like Church is almost like a waste of time when I can be getting some much more from online. I simply don't feel it in most Churches, so just like so many millennial Christians, we decided to take our own spiritual path online instead where we can find incredible sermons all over the world and solid answers to some of our biblical questions. One preacher I follow diligently is Dr. Charles Stanley with InTouch Ministries. This brilliant man has reawakened my faith in such a profound way. I only wish I lived in Atlanta so I can attend his Church.

    My grandmother (born 1913) said that a closely-knit community would build churches in their neighborhoods decades ago. The church was thus an extension and an expression of their community. Church bells rang every Sunday, and most people attended by walking at most a few blocks to their destination. With the decline of close-knit communities, the rise of urban sprawl, and the erosion of working class financial stability, etc. more neighbors have isolated themselves from each other and have either not been able or desirous to form long-lasting community.

    My congregation has baptized 15 people in the last three months. We count a person a member if they are baptized and then confirmed a member of the church. That leads to a record in the church system with all their information. If they move, we forward that information to the nearest congregation. However we get a lot of people who have not been out to church for years. I can look at the names on the directory and tell who has been out lately.

    The real reason that people are leaving Christianity is because they are realizing that the Bible is just a book. It's not the word of God. It is the word of human beings who claim to speak on God's behalf. Even if a God does exist, there is no reason to think that the Bible is the word of that God and a hundred reasons to doubt it.

    Why is religiosity dropping in America? A bit of history first. Mass used to be held in Latin where very few understood the message. People thought they were too stupid to understand and believed the church leaders. That was done purposely.
    For Catholicism, it was the early 60s in my Church, where the mass was changed from Latin to the local diaspora's language. Bad move, some people were not fooled by the illogical and contradictory messages.
    2024, there are plenty of youtube channels that promote atheism. They are quite articulate, understandable, and mostly punch holes in what the scriptures attest to. Education about the baggage that a loving god, would kill all the people with the exception of one family, because god could not foretell that the world he created will turn bad.
    God condones slavery, has rules on how to treat slaves, and yes slaves are considered to b property where if one beats a slave and the slave does not die in a few days, then there are no consequences to the abuse slave owner.
    God orders Saul to kill all the Amalekites, men, women, children and babies with the exception of virgins who can be taken by the warriors for what reason exactly?😜
    The more information that is available to people the more they can sort the truth from lies. There are debates Theist vs Atheist, and those over a course of time provide sufficient reason to either not believe a god exists or conclude no god exists. These are two very different issues which sound like the same issue.

    • @Colddirector
      @Colddirector 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly none of that is new information, I think that may be a contributing factor. I think the church is just not capable of providing comfort and answers to modern issues. People are living through one "once in a generation" crisis after another, and all the churches do is occupy themselves with trying to take rights from women, gay and transpeople. Most attempts to stop doing that have been rejected, so they keep staying the course dying on the hill of ignoring real issues for making people's lives worse. That and their political marriage with conservatism and authoritarianism means that the Christian brand is increasingly repulsive to (at least) half the population.
      I think most people would be willing to ignore the messed up stuff in the Bible, but not when the modern message is basically "Hey, you need to sacrifice your freedoms and shun your LGBT friends so we can keep making people's lives worse."

    Another issue for Church decline is the widespread movement of “seeker friendly” churches where becoming a member of a church is no longer required for receiving benefits and care, once reserved for members only!
    Church shopping and hopping has never been easier! If people don’t like whose preaching on any given Sunday morning, they can stay home and watch someone else’s sermon.
    My former church handed out 3 gifts to every new attender. Coffee mugs; Starbuck’s gift cards; ink pens to name a few.
    They also conducted funerals and dinners for people in our community who didn’t have a permanent church home. They expected members to provide the food and their time for this “outreach” ministry. I was so busy serving in several ministries (Sunday school teacher; Coffee barista; Church shopper; Funeral and Meal train provider; Women’s Bible study leader; Laundry detail for a single mother with cancer; and Welcome team scheduler) that I quickly burned out and felt used up! The needs were great, yet the workers were few!
    Mega churches should be a thing of the past! They do not serve the body of Christ well when 20% of the church is doing 100% of the work!

      God vs God vs Not God vs No god, in the Name of GAUD -- Grand Architect of Ur Destruction -- Abraham's Ur -- began in Israel on October 7th 2023. The devil intends to absolve himself of blame, by proving mankind unfit for God's kingdom. "After all," the devil argues, "Jesus, Himself, tried to teach these beasts to love one another, 1,994 years ago -- almost two full days in Heaven. Surely, the Ancients of Days will judge Man at fault. Or Jesus. Not Me."
      2 Peter 3: 8 Matthew 5: 44-48. The devil is delusional -- Daniel 7: 9-14 -- but OVER 93% of men and women are nearly deaf and blind spiritually. They "see" and "hear" nothing -- except perhaps, once or twice in a lifetime, while asleep. We call that, Normal. Are you any different? It has always been like this -- as in the days of Noah. Churches tend to overestimate their attendance frequency. I would be surprised if a church of 1000 members on the official directory had 40% attendance frequency. In my church it is more like 15%. That is counted as attending at least once per month. Our number appear to be up. This is due to changing immigration policy in Canada. We have a lot of new members from Latin American and African countries. But most of those people were already members of our church back home.

How do You go to a Church that took 3 times its Monthly Salary each month from the Federal Government to stay closed for 18 months and do the Will of Man instead of the Will of GOD? Does Psalm 91 only apply to Old Testiment Believers? Or does it apply to New Testiment Believers as well? And if it does why did American Churches take the 30 pieces of Silver to betray Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and depend on the Government instead of GOD? Is this the FAITH of AMERICAN CHURCHES? nor the plague that destroys at midday. (Pandemic)
    7 A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
    8 You will only observe with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.
    9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
    10 no harm will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
    11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
    12 they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
    13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
    14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;

      Trickle Up Works! That's why I support a Universal Basic Income of $3999 per month per adult. It's certain to buy votes. Talk about an economic stimulus -- WOW! And besides, the rich get it all back, anyway. Win-Win.
      I recommend The Urantia Book for truth seekers. Published in 1955, it claims to be the Fifth Epochal Revelation of God to Man. Of course, it requires a leap of faith to believe that. Paper 66 adds clarity to the Sumerian Tablets. Free to read online -- TH-cam has the audio version.

    This is my main reason I left the church. I can see it in his eyes that he expect us to do the work while having no complaints, and that is where I will tell this pastor to go and pack sand.
    I have loss count of how many times God bring people to me for ministering while I never look for it.
    I believe a lot of churches have lost sight of the bigger picture that God is in full control and we are in for a ride. I wonder if any pastors have ask them selves that this is what God wants to close churches, and it is his plan for the current world.
    As a Christian I do feel peace that knowing most people will go to hell and churches will continue go down hill, because simply God is in charge and I am not.
    So, my advise is pray for God's spirit to lead where you go and while be in peace for what ever the outcome is.

      "As a Christian I do feel peace that knowing most people will go to hell...". Congrats, not only will you be burning in Hell with all those "sinners" you hate you're statement is a clear snapshot why Christianity is declining in the US. You reek of moral hypocrisy and the youth can easily smell your bullshit. Much love and God bless.
