As a huge lover of tamiya and the vintage videos. It’s actually really awesome to see RC KICKS reviewing other brands and rtr as well. Loving the videos. Hope you , Rebecca and the kids are well. Keep doing what you’re doing!!!! 👍
I bought a venture chassis kit about a year ago, it was a fun enough build. I also bought a proline 4Runner body shell (I used to have a hilux surf which is pretty much the same thing only badged as a surf in Japan I believe)
Funny enough I’m Just about getting ready to upload my video on the wayfinder as well. Nice detailed over view , I forgot about the slipper clutch in my video. Must admit I didn’t rate the servo in it personally, also with the truck not being a new design it would have been nice to see portals fitted and an anti-torque twist transfer box. Besides this I was quite impressed as well. ;) cheers Gav
I applaud HPI for fighting to stay in the game, and the Venture is a great platform............from 2017 (when in reality it's more 2015 but the release kept getting delayed). It would have been nice if SOMETHING had been updated, and I'm not counting the body. I mean, this thing was designed back in the SCX10 II days....
Solid review! It seems this one is geared toward the younger crowd or those who find crawling to be boring. The body is right on the border of being scale and toy-ish looking imo. The suspension looks a bit stiff in the run footage, but that can be adjusted. Overall, not bad for HPI
Yep the shocks are set as per our the box. I would move the shock collars up a bit to soften the ride. It’s not far off to be fair but just a little for tail driving and a bit more for mud.
I sold the original venture as the hop ups won’t there 😡 and looking this one up it’s still the same zero hop ups for a huge company that’s bad .. save £50+ and buy yourself an ftx outback GEO more parts
Best of 2024 ? best of 2018 for sure but times has passed ... it makes an expensive entry-level truck now ... soft plastics, high-mounted motor, nothing to hide the blinding white interior paint of the body, protruding underbelly, this truck is of an old generation. It would have been a success in 2018 with its behind the axle steering for sure, but it's too late now ... now it's an entry-level truck, a bit on the expensive side for what it offers.
Fair enough, but what do you buy? Almost everything used in RC is made in China. You might think Traxxas is American but their vehicles are ALL MADE IN CHINA. TAMIYA. makes their kits in the Phillipines. Sure you can buy aftermarket accessories that are USA made for Traxxas TRX 4 such as diffs and axle weights and the like but that's about it. I'm not sure any RC cars are USA made. Team Associated used to be American made but years ago.
@@Jaysqualityparts I'm just saying there is hardly any RC cars made in the USA . Don't get me wrong , I despise China. I don't like China at all. But almost everything RC related is made in Asia. As for Tamiya manufacturing in Philippines, I have around 15 Tamiya RC cars and I love them. But the parent company is Japanese. Im in Australia but during WW2 both America and Australia were allies and the Japanese were our enemy. Still time heals maybe not all wounds but I love Tamiya RC cars. China on the other hand is unforgivable. But exactly what do you buy if you're boycotting China? I don't understand what you were trying to achieve here by saying your boycotting China, because there ain't a lot of RC components that are not made in China. What do you buy and where from? Sounds really dumb when you say your boycotting China, you don't believe Traxxas are USA made do you? Because they ain't. Traxxas manufacturer in China. And I'm really starting to hate Traxxas.

That's awesome they re-released the Venture. I still have my original one and it sees the most trail time.
I wish I still had my old one
Really good comprehensive and measured review. Looks to be a very decent bit of kit. Love the channel!
Much appreciated!

I heard the bumper may be an issue as for hpi the mounting holes are with different width than axial. Is it correct?
5:04, couldn't you use regular car tint to give the windows a scale appearance?
Yep it's possible.
Ide love to build that from scratch.
Well they do make a kit version.

HPI has made that transmitter for many years and they are very dependable.
If you want bonkers get a hpi WR8. Comes with this same transmitter though. So much fun!
That looks fun

Land cruiser?
Ish
HPI put a Tamiya connector in a car rated for 3S? Oh my.. xD

What hop ups have you found for the geo I’m struggling with that

I don't know about that. I still win plenty of comps with my Venture.
@@SnarkyRC you can still win comps with a AX10, doesn't make it "best of 2024"
1st!
Looks more like a Toyota than American. Too bad I’m boycotting Chy-Na

THAT LOOKS HORRIBLE !! NO DETAIL IN BODY EITHER NEEDS A DIFFERENT BODY AND INTERIOR
Unfortunately they had to ditch the FJ body. The battery relocation is a nice upgrade to get for the SBK.
