This album is great in so many ways... it continues “The Boys” story from camp and the screenplay makes it a whole lot better because the album makes more sense after reading it. Camp ends with the lines “The truth is I got on the bus a boy and I never got off the bus...I still haven’t” and the Screenplay begins with “you can’t live your life on a bus”
I dunno. The screenplay kinda ruins the whole album to be honest. It makes it pointless. I like for things to have a meaning. And the screenplay is pointless to listen to.
I mean it’s about a troll who kills himself then survives and he then becomes a drug dealer. Then he dies and in the credits we see him. He is trolling with us. So the whole thing is pointless. That’s why I don’t listen to the screenplay.
@@swampwaffle74 I guess if that's the way you see it man. Art can be interpreted in different ways. "Life's the biggest troll, and the joke is on us, the joke's you showed up" means to me that you kinda have license to fuck around while you're here. That's how Donald lives his life - he embraces the changes. Atlanta is a great example too. I've worked caregiving for people in their 80s and 90s who were dying and I have to say, no one knows what the fuck they're doing, ever, the whole world is kinda chaotic (esp considering 2020, climate change, inequality, mental illness, etc) and what we need imo is empathy, understanding, support, and love for each other and call things out as we see them - even the worst parts of us/our society. And that's the vibe I get from the whole Because The Internet project and the rest of Donald Glover's work.
I had a dream I had a dream I was flying over islands There were so many pretty people So many pretty faces I talked to some birds I fell in love again And none of this ever ended Everything just kept going, and going and going And even when you laughed, when you cried And even when you were sad you were really happy Because you were here And I got to meet every star, every planet Everything that made me And we all kissed And became the same We became the same We became the same Who would have thought this We almost lost it When you lie inside darkness it's hard to see And we sleep in tradition Keep them off in the distance To tell you that I haven't been We are all Cold water What are you all Why bother? Just hold me close my darling Just hold me close my darling Just hold me close my darling Just hold me close my darling Who would have dreamed this? You couldn't mean this It would be some type of meanness to where you are Cause I don't know where to go And no one else seems to know We are all Night's fallen What are you all Dark callin' So we're left alone No one left to call upon Be still now, broken bones As I travel on just hold me close my darling So we're left alone No one left to call upon Be still now, broken bones As I travel on just hold me close my darling
Dude, same. I first heard it in a video essay about colour in film and it's been one of my favourite pieces of music ever since. When city life becomes a little too oppressive i put it on and i picture myself in a house in the countryside, with only nature around me. I hope that will come true one day. Until then, this instrumental will be my escape. Anyway, that was a bit of an info dump. I hope you are doing good, wherever you are. And that you're still coming back to this track. Peace
going back to 2014 would be so crazy... holy shit that was a decade ago

The pain in this instrumental man…
I had a dream
I had a dream I was flying over islands
There were so many pretty people
So many pretty faces
I talked to some birds
I fell in love again
And none of this ever ended
Everything just kept going, and going and going
And even when you laughed, when you cried
And even when you were sad you were really happy
Because you were here
And I got to meet every star, every planet
Everything that made me
And we all kissed
And became the same
We became the same
We became the same
Who would have thought this
We almost lost it
When you lie inside darkness it's hard to see
And we sleep in tradition
Keep them off in the distance
To tell you that I haven't been
We are all
Cold water
What are you all
Why bother?
Just hold me close my darling
Just hold me close my darling
Just hold me close my darling
Just hold me close my darling
Who would have dreamed this?
You couldn't mean this
It would be some type of meanness to where you are
Cause I don't know where to go
And no one else seems to know
We are all
Night's fallen
What are you all
Dark callin'
So we're left alone
No one left to call upon
Be still now, broken bones
As I travel on just hold me close my darling
So we're left alone
No one left to call upon
Be still now, broken bones
As I travel on just hold me close my darling
by far one of my favorite albums of all time.
