    Thank you for sharing your process! One thing you might try if you're having trouble separating pages - I use a larger pan (lasagna sized) and stagger the layers. It made it easier for me to find the edges, and I tore fewer corners. :)

    After Easter and all the egg dying kits go on sale I buy a bunch up and use them to dye my papers and they turn out goergous. You can usually get them for a quarter each I have gotten them for ten cents each.

    I loved watching ur process. Maybe u could try when u take a page out and it has a small puddle use a straw and gently blow on it and se what kind of designs u get. im going to try it. i love th colors. i wanted a purple to. LOL THANKS for sharing. U and urr mom have some great ideas. I use to scrapbook also back whn it was the big crazy. I did a lot of albums.and then just got burned out. How many albums u think u did. i lost some of my favorit stuff cause i loaned it to my daughter and she lost. My favorite thing was the paper crimper. U stuck a sheet paper in it and turned it and it crinkled it. My husband made me a punch gadget cause we had puncie piece swaps and it was rough on the hand, i just sat the punch under it and pulled the handle down on it, so much easier. I LOVE UR TAG TUes. thank you.🐞🐞🐞

    The gel food colours are very rich! Gorgeous! I dry my papers on low in my Sahara food dryer for about an hour; that way I can get more done in a day and not worry about setting fire to them or over-drying in the oven (haven't got room to lay them out anywhere). (my food dryer has rectangular shelving; the grid pattern on them sometimes shows on the dried papers too, which I'm okay with). Otherwise can use the dryer silicon type sheets that come with the dryer...

    You could add more water or add a little bit of white paint to soften up the red, but not too much because you’ll get pink unless that’s what you’re kind of looking for just an idea

    All I do is put a stack of paper in my pan pour 3 cups of water with food coloring in it and turn pages back and forth removing a page at a time and laying them staggered on my craft table ten sheets or so thick on top of each other at different angles and let them dry under my ceiling fan for a few hours. 4 or so. then they have ripples and cracks and marks all over them and I iron them the next day and it is so easy one pan and a table to dry them on. The colors are beautiful!!!!

    I like to eco dye. I leave my papers to sit in the colour overnight, Lift it out my pan and hold it until it stops dripping. I can separate the pages easily then..
    I'm in the UK but have a big food dehydrator that I sometimes dry papers in if I'm doing a big amount, or if a small amount I will lay them on the big trays just to air dry.
    I always have a plant sprayer of a very strong coffee dye next to my dehydrator and will spray a few pages here and there.
    My favourite pages are the ones where the colours mix.
    In the UK, a lot of people use a herb rack that hangs to dry papers.
    Your colour stack is gorgeous. I've just got 3 colour gels to try with my papers

    Thanks for sharing your process!!! 😊💜 I've been meaning to make some more food color pages. They turn out so pretty and everyone thinks the paper is so nice. With color mixing food color: To make the color less bright, add a drop or two of the complimentary color. The reason mixing compliments makes brown is because they are try to cancel each other out so you get a neutral color.
    Your papers turned out awesome!!!

    • @MelinaPylant
      @MelinaPylant  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I would think you could especially since coffee and tea are “food” and this is food coloring. But I would start with a tiny bit at a time and test dip some scrap paper before adding too much. The brown from that may muddy the colors too much.

    Hi Mylena Gail from Massachusetts here your new subscriber! I bought kool aide and food coloring. So I typed how to dry junk journal paper with food coloring and watched a few . I was crafting and half paying attention because I have no desire to bake paper in oven . Then you came up and I saved you to watch again for real ! Wow they came out beautiful. I really want pink papers too . When you added yellow I was oh no ! But it PERFECT coral peach ! I bet I end up orange. My birthday may 20 . Love emeralds of course. My favorite color is Aqua when asked . Everyone always says AQ ? I say actually Tiffany blue my favorite color or and shade of blue and green combine. I can’t wait to see your other videos for junk journaling! You should see my apartment when I dyed coffee and tea batch . Paper hanging over everything. Thank goodness I am empty nester ! Lol you didn’t even have to iron either. Why everyone else take risk and constantly checking oven ? Me and my five kids lost our home to a fire . It was small fire 🔥 I tried putting out but fire spread so fast in matter of seconds. No way TTFN

    • @MelinaPylant
      @MelinaPylant  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes we ink dye. I find it the most expensive way to dye papers though. I mainly tea dye/stain my papers. Yes, it’s the same process as this. I make my tea super concentrated and add it hot to hot water then let it sit and steep about an hour before taking the tea bags out, stirring around the mixture and then dipping away. 🙂

    These are GORGEOUS! I am going to be doing a dye session this week with a new technique I learned used food coloring and shaving cream. I just can't wait! I was wondering what temp your dye baths are? When I tea/coffee dyed, the water is really warm. I e wondered if the food dye intensity would be changed with different water temps? Thanks, Melina! Great bounty, great blessings!❤

    Do you use regular copy paper for your pages or do you get thicker copy paper?

    • @MelinaPylant
      @MelinaPylant  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes but I like using the premium copy paper a little more. It’s 28-32# weight. Purple packaging at Walmart.

    Beautiful papers. I am wondering if you are able to write on these pictures. Like will the ink work on the dyed paper.

    • @MelinaPylant
      @MelinaPylant  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course. Yes. You can write on dyed papers. Copy paper in itself is dyed white in its process of being made. Food colored dyed paper, coffee dyed paper, ink dyed paper and tea dyed papers all can be and are written on. I have 100’s of journals and I write on every paper in my journals. 🙂

    I need to start making my own, but the thoughts of guarding the oven, etc, just doesn’t excite me! This method, however, doesn’t incite dread! TFS!
    Love to hear you talk about your girls night w/your daughter. Some of my favorite memories are of mine & moms Girl’s Nights. Now that she’s gone Home, just thinking about them brings me joy & comfort. A gift, that if it came with a card, it would say “hugs & kisses, love Mom from heaven”!!😇
    Continued prayers for your dad & sister 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    Just gorgeous!!! I am a little surprised you did not get any with a "red" tone. They are all pinks and peaches. But they are gorgeous! I just bought some Kool-Aid to dye some of my pages with. I also have my son saving avacado skins and pits for me. It is just so much fun to see what comes out of your efforts. And it never disappoints.

    I’ve never used food coloring and anxious to try it! I use sugar-free drink mix. I dry them on racks on old sheets, on my kitchen table under the fan. Turn the fan up high and they dry overnight! I turn and separate them as they dry! Can’t wait to try the food coloring! Y’all do a great job! God bless you for sharing!
