i love these old tv westerns !!! as a kid it was like wow !!!!! now its funny & still like watching !!!! even tho the guns have never need reloaded !!! lol ... not to mention hats that never come off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chubby Johnson, the sheriff, was one of the most recognizable western character actors and had 80 film credits to his name, and also dozens of TV episodes!
He was an excellent actor he was one of the best i remember when growing Saturday's afternoon it was western rocky lane he was grampas and my favorite thank you for sharing
Allan `Rocky` Lane made 38 of these films for Republic between `47 & `53. According to his contract with Republic he was on $450 per week in `47 rising to $700 per week by the end of the series in `53. Black Jack was his own horse & was used in all 38 films. Allan Lane died of bone cancer at age 64.
Jeff Clarke .. pretty darn good money even now, seein as how some ppl make less... So e actors were making 450. wk in 59. Laramie pd Smith & Fuller 600. in 59.
Myron Healey as Steve! Healey was best known as a villain and in the 40's, 50's and 60's was never without a gig. This is one of those rare productions where he's a straight man.
I remember Healey well...after some Rocky Lane movies (others too) he was on Gunsmoke a good number of times, along with other "Rocky" stars...Roy Barcroft, Lane Bradford, a couple others that evade me now as well as Rocky Lane himself in at least 3 appearances that is clear in mind. Gunsmoke had nearly all the "character actors" as they called them, to me they were fine, fine actors...GS also had Pernell Roberts, Chuck Conners, Sugarfoot, etc.
😄 😄 😄 😄 However in all the fantastic fist fightsand all the punches he took, not a single scratch, but then this was how movies were made when I was two yrs old.
Quality upload.. great story, acting & directing. Good to see Myron Healey get some decent air time, he usually plays a baddy who gets shot. No way I would class this as a B western.
I sent to GeneAutry Western Museum in LA many years ago and they had wonderful displays and short film clips . One of Rocky's shirts was on display. Talk about shoulders. I understand those displays we now gone.
Rocky Lane also took over as Red Ryder in the Red Ryder western series replacing Wild Bill Elliott. Their Indian kid sidekick 'Little Beaver' was played by a young Bobby Blake, Robert Blake of TV's "Baretta" fame.
Do you think that the only man in town who wears a grey suit (or 'gray' if you're American) would wear that same grey/gray suit when he went about his nefarious deeds? Surely it would raise comments like "Disguise a baddy not a goody"?
Rocky Lane was the only Republic cowboy who was shown riding his horse on the screen as the credits were shown. He was a bit of a perfectionist and insisted that he be the only one to wear jeans in the films. Why is anybody's guess.
Apparently Hollywood just can't help themselves. They don't have Smiley Burnette or Fuzzy Knight to play a moron & ruin the movie so they use the sheriff character!
OMFG I can't believe my freakin' ears! A woman at 33:33 admitted being wrong. WTF! I guess that little patch of fur between her legs doesn't mean she knows everything!
Quick look at this posted page shows him to be an elderly bitter Trump supporter who hates those not like him. And from his comments, probably lives alone if he is still alive

Go to A Word on Westerns w/Rob Word… he has an interview w/a hat maker that explains why the hats stay on in fights, riding, etc. Very interesting.
@@suev3339 thanks Sue for the info I'll give it a peek 😀

you have to love these movies. especially the six-guns with tons of bullits.
Those were old belt-fed revolvers. Lol
Love these old movies, thanks. They sure were hard on the horses though. Makes me wince a bit.

sad to know Allan Lane died at age 64. I notice many of my favorite old time actors and entertainers didn't live very long but had productive careers.
Buena película y gracias por subirla 🙏❤️!

Yes it's lovely to see the great western movies.

THANK YOU
He had class
@27:01, Rocky dismounts and drops the reins. His well trained horse stands- "ground tied".
Rocky Lane did the voice of Mister Ed the talking horse and I really love watching the guy he’s smart good looking a good guy
Great movie thanks
🙃☕❤❤❤❤🤠
Great movie thanks!!
A. Very. Good. Classic. Howdy. One 🎉🎉🎉 👍🤠
🤠👋👍
Good hard fights!
SUPA GLUE was invented to keep hats on when fist fighting & falling off horses. Gotta love these old westerns
I noticed that too. I wondered why he wore them all the time and decided it was due to him riding and gunslinging all the time! 😂
Lane is built, wide shoulders small waist. It's a shame he's not a modern actor, he would be the next James Bond.
I sent to GeneAutry Western Museum in LA many years ago and they had wonderful displays and short film clips . One of Rocky's shirts was on display. Talk about shoulders. I understand those displays we now gone.

OK sat arvo matinee western. Reasonable story line that moves along nicely
Great movie had to see again big sky top of the Rockies to you
I wonder if the last fight scene was choreographed or if they just said “go for it”!
An enjoyable nice movie.
Entertaining. Thanks for sharing.

Again NJ Thanks 🙏 🙋♂️
One tough hombre that Rocky was.
Love both fellers
Boy, I used to eat these westerns up as a kid. This evening I spotted the baddie in the first two minutes.
Sure, just look for the nicest character.
At 36 when Julie leaves she also leaves all the oil burning lamps going. I would think that. This is a might dangerous?
Why are these Rocky lane’s. Are not on cable
Do you think that the only man in town who wears a grey suit (or 'gray' if you're American) would wear that same grey/gray suit when he went about his nefarious deeds?

Never loses his hat
much better choreography on the fight scene
Well Wilbur I read it in the paper today
31:15 covid back then?
Those hats must be glued on with some mity powrful glue, stayed on thru entire fight at gunsmiths shop...
Taxed Payer is
Rocky lane. One dollar for a good horse. Rangers
The fight at the end they hit each other in the face about 20 times and not even a bleeding lip.
They made 'em tough in those days.
@@j.sumner6999 Must be,
I love these great old movies too but didn't they have rifles back then you always want to start a gunfight with people 60 yards away with a pistol
At 10 minutes and 50 seconds after a gunfight shouldn't you reload your pistol
I love this old stuff great to listen to in the background or concentrate on it either way it's great
Sixteen shooter guns glued on hats and glued on masks.
I just noticed at 22:35 when Rocky looks out the window and then, the sheriff and Rocky walk outside, no window..
It is just out of shot. There is a length of wall between the window and the door.
A white hat stands out pretty well. Not the best choice while hiding.
Allan "Rocky" Lane was the voice of Mr. Ed ..TV Show..
Wilburrrr, what's with all this peanut butter?
Rocky Lane was the only Republic cowboy who was shown riding his horse on the screen as the credits were shown. He was a bit of a perfectionist and insisted that he be the only one to wear jeans in the films. Why is anybody's guess.
Mike Newton
Myron Healey was in the short 'Baby Sitter Jitters" with the Three Stooges.
Sou o maior fã de rocky lane da face da terra pena que não é legendado ou dublado ou espanhol Brasil Abraços
I don't expect perfect plots from these classics, but this western sure did have a lot of holes in it.
Well, Jim and Steve were kind of stupid or none of it would have made sense.
Apparently Hollywood just can't help themselves. They don't have Smiley Burnette or Fuzzy Knight to play a moron & ruin the movie so they use the sheriff character!
True comedy morons, when he passed only one person visited the Allen Rocky Lane service, evidently not to personable.
I can't stand a dumb sherriff!!!
Still better than Fuzzy .. 🙄
Teria que ser com legendas em português
Good
Cool
Does Lane ever remove his gloves? He must have the softest lily white hands of all the gunslingers ever born.
Part of the costume.
Better than John Wayne "John who??
Están buenas las películas, pero el pedo es que están en inglés 😡😡😡
Pelo amor de Deus me manda legendado
OMFG I can't believe my freakin' ears! A woman at 33:33 admitted being wrong. WTF! I guess that little patch of fur between her legs doesn't mean she knows everything!
Or a big tarantula ! @Joey B
Ticked off...Your such a dribble of a person...all negative, prejudice, and ignorant...your life is social media...you have nothing else...
Crude
Really???

Did not see any rifle?.. what kind of shit show western is this?...
really stupid....acting and plot
I thought it was a great movie.. let’s see you do better.
The script is bad; the acting is worse.
Mr. Officer I must have Alzheimer’s, because I don’t remember anyone asking
Do you know where the off button is?
Mr Officer .. your the only one. Your hard to please.
