Saw them supporting the stray cats at the local theatre when I was 12 - about 4.5 million years ago..I still have a 'JETS' badge somewhere...awesomely stupendous..one of my pals was at the gig with his old man who said I was misbehaving..for dancing in the aisle..ffs...excuse me for enjoying myself
True Blue Rockabilly Baby!!! The very beginning of rock!!! No Billy, no rock!!!! No Bullshit!! Just plain true rock.. from the roots!!! Rock on boys!!!
I saw the Jets at the British rail club in Wellingborough in 1980 along wiht others such as Johnny and the jailbirds, ramblingcatz, dynamite band, many fond memories!!! the stargazers and the deltas were my 2 fav bands!! anyone remember them???
The band first formed in 1974 under the name "BRAD", a four piece Rock'n'Roll band with big ambitions. In 1978 they became The Jets, now a three piece with Bob on Double bass, Ray on lead guitar and "little" Tony on drums. Keeping it in the family, the three Cotton brothers play with as much energy and power as a six piece band. With over 30 years experience behind them, The Jets remain one of the top rockin' bands not only in the UK but around the world
The Jets are cool. I once spun the vinyl at a gig of the Cotton Bro's in Leeds, back in the early 80's. Made a real hash of it, but they said they enjoyed it! Legends. And this composition is a really fine example of rockabilly at its best!
The Jets used to be 4 brothers, but one left and this song was released. I was a rocking DJ of 16 years old booking concert rooms and putting on rocking gigs (imagine a 16 year old trying to that nowadays) so booked the Jets days before this record came out. The record went viral in Europe resulting in several thousand Rockers attending the gig on Hinckley, many couldn't get into the gig and a riot resulted destroying the club and local shops.
I've still got my 7" of this on Soho records. Went out and bought it after seeing them on 'Get It Together' hosted by Roy North. Tuh, I remember it like it was only 32 years ago...
Great band, when a bands been around so long it`s easy to take there great sound for granted.First got to see these at the odeon brum early 80`s.great stuff.
When they first became the Jets I booked them to play in Hinckley Leic's Uk (2nd gig). Being 16 years old at the time I had no clue what I was doing, except for the decks ( I was a rockin DJ) and so the night really rocked with no management, which resulted in a riot where the club was smashed up, and the riot police called. We took thousands on the door, but paid it all out to repair the damage, but what a night, rock n roll beer, sex and a punch up LOL.
saw them in a club in hebburn near Newcastle in the 80's, let us take pics standing on stage while they took a break, holding the double bass and all, then saw them supporting shaky at City hall, everyone wanted them back after he'd been on !
@flemwad My partner was at Central Hall in Chatham when he saw the Jets supporting Shakin Stevens when he was 16, way back in 1980 ( when I was born ) ha ha
Looks like they're playing a working mens' club! Was this song before or after the bingo? Only joking lads - seen loads of gigs by this lot - brilliant every time.
Lol i'm into "head banging screamin shit" and i love Rock N Roll one of the greatest and funnest forms of music out there. Minus the new wave trendy generally shit poppy stuff.
@flemwad Yeah my partner must of MISBEHAVING himself also coz he was dancing in the aisles also. I think if u didn't dance then I class that has misbehaving and very boring ha ha x
