This really great and well presented ! In a very much understandable manner. We are studying this subject in school and I wish they’d simplify it to this... as in the articles we are required to read are convoluted... research scholars ought to rethink the way they want to present a subject if they really are serious about getting their message across .... the more educated one becomes the more they must pay attention to never lose the simplicity of explaining things in order to have a strong effect on the masses ....

Yes,and people like him, like Trockij who started the Bolshevik revolution, are responsible of the death about the 100 million people in the 20 th century. One of the reasons that Italy became the worlds 8th largest economy, and became a propserious country is that, this fuckwit communist died.Hopefully he died in terrible pain.If you think that communism ,or socialism is the way to go,then you have been indoctrinated by the far left in your school.I was growing up in a glorious socislit country in Eastern Europe. You know how was it?It was fucking shit.Peope, however could escaped. In western world ,you can become one in the dominant class. You have to work hard and have to have a great idea.In socialist country,it wasn’t the case.So as far as I’m concerned, all communists should be imprisoned or killed and as a totalitarian ideology, just like Nazism, should be banned completely. It did no good for humanity.End of story

@@petergbrics7260 the 100 million deaths claim is from the black book of communism and has been thoroughly and repeatedly debunked, with many of the authors of the book coming forward years later to say their methodology was flawed. - The video says the ruling class "use hegemonic ideas to gain domination over the subjugated classes"
    - what are "hegemonic ideas'? Those ideas used by getting "consent from the masses of ordinary people"
    - this "consent" was won through using "common sense"
    - 1:34 "Common Sense means the way that individuals look to common sense to guide them in their immediate private concerns"
=> "COMMON SENSE" IS "COMMON SENSE"? THE DEFINITION IS CIRCULAR SO THE WHOLE ANALYSIS IS INCOHERENT
    - 7:35 "Because of the experiences and conditions under which subjugated classes struggle, this tension (between the spontaneous solidarity etc) may push subjugated classes into struggle against ruling class ideas. This may bring about revolution." "May push"? Why? under what conditions? Why can't the ruling class just adapt "common sense" to the new situation?
Gramsci was supposedly a Marxist, as is implied in the video. Why isn't the working class not mentioned even once? The only class mentioned is the ruling class. Isn't the working class objectively revolutionary according to Marx?
Marx said the revolution occurs when there is a contradiction between the further development of the productive forces and the social relations that exist. If the last point above is meant to reflect Marx's theory it does not, it only misrepresents it.
Read Lenin instead. From "Materialism and Empirio-Criticism"
"... In all social formations of any complexity-and in the capitalist social formation in particular-people in their intercourse are not conscious of what kind of social relations are being formed, in accordance with what laws they develop, etc. For instance, a peasant when he sells his grain enters into “intercourse” with the world producers of grain in the world market, but he is not conscious of it; nor is he conscious of the kind of social relations that are formed on the basis of exchange. Social consciousness reflects social being-that is Marx’s teaching. A reflection may be an approximately true copy of the reflected, but to speak of identity is absurd.
… Every individual producer in the world economic system realises that he is introducing this or that change into the technique of production; every owner realises that he exchanges certain products for others; but these producers and these owners do not realise that in doing so they are thereby changing social being. The sum-total of these changes in all their ramifications in the capitalist world economy could not be grasped even by seventy Marxes. The most important thing is that the laws of these changes have been discovered, that the objective logic of these changes and of their historical development has in its chief and basic features been disclosed-objective, not in the sense that a society of conscious beings, of people, could exist and develop independently of the existence of conscious beings (and it is only such trifles that Bogdanov stresses by his “theory”), but in the sense that social being is independent of the social consciousness of people. The fact that you live and conduct your business, beget children, produce products and exchange them, gives rise to an objectively necessary chain of events, a chain of development, which is independent of your social consciousness, and is never grasped by the latter completely. The highest task of humanity is to comprehend this objective logic of economic evolution (the evolution of social life) in its general and fundamental features, so that it may be possible to adapt to it one’s social consciousness and the consciousness of the advanced classes of all capitalist countries in as definite, clear and critical a fashion as possible."

I also think the English language reenforces individualism over collectivism.
For example, if you want to say "I dont care" in Spanish, you say, "no me importa."
You aren't saying "I dont care" when you say that, you are saying, "it isn't important to me." You are acknowledging that you are describing something that does not matter to you, but you are not implying that your lack of care is the important part of the communication.
I theorize this is why Latin-Americans tend to be less self-centered, simply because their language is less self-centered.

      I disagree.
As a Brazilian - also Latin American - we would say "I dont care" as "eu nao me importo" or "nao me importa". Both are interchangeable without affecting the message. I disagree that the English language reflects a sense of individualism. Furthermore, as a native speaker of Portuguese, I absolutely oppose to the idea that Latin American peoples are less self-centered. Just look at the importance Latin Americans place in volunteering their free time and resources to help others versus the time and effort that Americans devote to volunteer work. The difference is astounding!

If you think it's farfetched look it up. The Young Italians, Mazzini, Autorizza, Furti, Incendi, and Avvelendamenti, the Five Families anagram for the Mafia coming out of the Carbonari, who were connected to the Sabbatean Frankists, and the Jacobbins. The Young Italians became the La Cammora, the Ndrangheta, and the La Cosa Nostra who funneled money to the Vatican. The Predecessors of the Sabbatean Frankists were the Sabbatean Donmeh Young Turks, and before them they were the Alumbrados Aluminados Crypto Converso Jesuits who started the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade when they were kicked out of Spain in 1492 under the Alhambra Decress for performing the Passover Blood Libel Ritual of their Unleven Bread. It was known as the Blood Libel Sacrifice of the Holy Child of La Guardia.

The problem I see with some people that likes gramsci's ideas is that they think they apply to then-current ruling class, when in fact they describe what any ruling class would do while ruling, even blue-collar workers themselves

I think you misrepresent Gramsci a bit here. Gramsci, for instance, didn't talk about English language. But anyone watching this for the first time might assume he did.

Aka, the things that you think you like, you only like because if hegemonic interests. The things you think you need, hegemonic interests. Your happiness, hegemonic interests. If only you knew how horrible your life really was and how much of a slave you really are. This was all about explaining why capitalism made successful societies with high living standards. The people who write this stuff are obsessed with violent revolutions against capitalist success. That is the goal no matter how it has to happen. What happens after? Communism, the perfect form of the State that suppresses any power structures from forming like in capitalist societies that breed inequalities. Communism will deliver access to true meaningful democracy and the end of history, the new utopia.

most of this is backed by observational evidence at most, and some of it isn't actually true. i know this comment will sink like the fucking titanic, but i still feel the need to comment. english is not a language of prestige, you just think it's a language of prestige because you're english. it is a widespread language not because it's fucking elite, that makes absolutely zero sense, it's a wide spread langauge IN THE WEST because of the massive amount of peoeple who speak english, and because most of those people live in wealthy countries. again, all of your comments are oberservational and not thinking at all about the bigger picture. why do we consent to being dominated? because we realize that we are unable to run a fucking society alone, by ourselves, and most of us are unfit and too lazy. plus, "the powerful" (oooooo) have exactly the same amount of power you do, we're all fucking human. maybe they could put you in jail for a while or change your sidewalk, but you have so much more personal identity and power, you fucking moron. aiosjdioasdijaiodjasiojdioajsdiopjasopdj

    Mediocre presentation.
Start by pronouncing hegemony the right way.
    Explain how and why is this clip available;
Is this available as the hegemonic tactic that you are trying to describe?
Is this available to fish for people sharing this ideas?
Is this available to see what people are thinking?... and maybe adjust accordingly?
Is Hegemony a tool for an oligarchic economical form of government?
