I have to add my suggestion to those that have stone or gravel driveways....several years ago a gentleman told me to add a length of pipe to the cutting edge of my grader blade. It works great , it still removes or rather moves some stone but by far does not dig into it like the bare cutting edge does. I will attempt to send a pic ,if I can figure out how to do it. I have passed this on to friends and they found it effective on their driveway.

My old Deere 318 with the single stage blower...and some rust in the chute, I get the cheap cooking spray and it works great. BUT It has to go on before the chute has moisture on it, or it doesn't seem to stick. The wet heavy stuff is usually when it causes issues. I'd love to find a "cheap" dual stage blower for my 318, but the quick connect and such to hook it all up is just about impossible to find, then the blower run around $1500 used around here. But really with a dual stage there isn't any need for the spray

I like just using the bucket and a rear blade to clear snow here in upstate N.Y. the bucket has It's limitations I know because it can't be angled but when the edges of the driveway start closing in as the season progresses, I can scoop the snow up and either dump it somewhere else or just dump it farther off the side. I clear the church parking lot where I attend and the bucket comes in handy to lift the snow and dump it on the other side of the curbs. That's harder to do with a plow. For years I have used CRC Heavy Duty Silicone spray, generously applied to the front blade, to prevent a build-up of snow and slush -- has worked well for me in Upstate New York, and now New England snows which tend to be quite heavy, wet and sticky.

Just a quick question I am thing about a snow pusher for my kubota L4060 I am in sand county and my driveway is around 1000 ft long and all sand. Do you think with the skid shoes on this will work without digging into the sand I would need a 84 inch pusher and I am sure that's a lot of weight also do you sell chains or maybe better to go to kubota dealer

    • @GoodWorksTractors

Hi Pineriver, sand is a tough situation. Honestly, can't say I've had anyone with sand. I think it would dig into sand unless it gets water in it and freezes up? Really not sure what's best for that situation? Maybe adjusting the skid runners a lot so that the main cutting edge is way above the plow surface so when it sinks in a bit, it's still riding above it?

I solved the plow width problem when I built my 72” plow for my 25hp compact tractor. I moved the pivot point for the turn back to the SS attachment plate. Now the plow swings as it turns and the plow pushes the snow farther on the wind row side. If your plow manufacturer uses this idea I would be happy to try a sample plow for them.

@@GoodWorksTractors I do not have a video of the mechanism, but I probably should make one.
The concept can be illustrated with a teeter totter, using a triangle for the fulcrum. If a six foot plank is on the point of an eighteen inch tall triangle, as the plank is pushed to one side the end of the plank will be less than three feet from the center of the triangle. This is the standard configuration of the plow that the tractor will ride on the snow. Now, flip the triangle so the point is on the ground and the plank is on the opposite flat side. As the plank is push down on one side the center of the plank swings in the direction that the plank is going down. In turn making the plow effectively wider on that side.
It is really just flipping the A-frame around so the pivot point is at the quick tach plate rather than at the back of the plow.
It is a brilliantly simple way of making the plow work without increasing the blade size.
I could probably send pictures, but they would have to stay top secret…

Hi Courtney, Thanks for posting this great video. I enjoy your content.
About the spray coatings on bucket, pusher or blade. I noticed the you had a nice shiny new pusher for your test. The control section worked as well as the different sprays. Nice new smooth, painted, surface is also a coating, that's why it worked just as well...
I believe that the sticking issue comes into play with a well worn rusted bucket or blade. Even if they are repainted older buckets still have the uneven textured, rusted, surfaces. That is when the sticking is the worst. In addition to PAM, Fluid Film, etc., kerosene has also been used as a release agent. My bucket is over 35 years old and snow sticks, unlike your new buckets or blades. 😃 😊
That could be a future test for you. I know you are selling new shiny products, but down the road we users don't have the equipment looking quite as nice as new. That is if we use our equipment. 😆
    Thanks for the post... Dan

    Hi Courtney,
Comparing a snow pusher versus a snow blade, both have their benefits. Each type excels in a particular application.
A snow pusher is great for open areas and short driveways. It can move more snow in this instance, than a snow blade.
In contrast, if you have a long narrow driveway, a snow blade set at an angle, windrowing the snow to the side, would be way better and faster than a snow pusher.

I have the 84 inch pusher on a 1635 Massey with the SSQA that I store in a heated garage. I leave the pusher outside to keep it from getting warmer than the snow while keeping the bucket on to clear the way to the pusher. This leaves the problem of snow sticking to the pusher to my memories. I store the pusher on pallets to keep it from sticking to the ground.
