- Miniaturist Journal 90. Today I am plastering walls for my roomboxes and I am unpacking my purchases from the fair. I discovered I stole something... 🙄

I can’t wait to see your new videos l just love them. What talent you clever woman.lots of love from a female admirer.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos 😃
To me plants/planters are so often out of scale and (in my eyes) can ruin the look of an otherwise wonderful room. But that plant you bought is wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
Well if it's the wrong scale it mostly doesn't look right. But this is a nice plant, isn't it! Although I also liked the big one she had. I chose this smaller one because of the pot. And it fits onto a table 😃
Beautiful tapestry and not a lot considering the hours it would have taken to sew ! Thank you for sharing everything!❤😊
That is certainly true, and when I was filming that part the thought did cross my mind. You could never have someone stitch that for you now for €70,- Thank you! 😊
I’m all settled in with my dog and my pretzels and I can’t wait to see what happens😂💕
😂
This was so much fun! Your videos are absolutely lovely! You have such impeccable taste and exquisite craftsmanship. And you are so very funny! I started giggling as soon as you pointed out the glitter in the plaster 😂
I am very relieved that you are prepared to make amends for your crime spree!
It was so much fun to know that I had this video to look forward to at the end of a long day. Thank you for all of the extra work that you do to make these videos and share them with us. I cannot even tell you how much I appreciate you and look forward to every new adventure 💕
It's so lovely to hear that Jen, I am happy that you're enjoying the videos!
My life as a criminal is behind me now, as I contacted the owner and she forgave me. 😂
Love the plant, great work on your channel. And that hand stiched hanging is beautiful!
Thank you so much! 😃
If you get the bucket and have some left over, you can take a bit of plastic wrap and snuggle it down onto the plaster to keep any air out and then put on the lid.
Good tip Pat! Thank you 😃
Love that you support others
Thank you Susan! 😃
Your purchases are gorgeous Josje, I love your thought process when planning something miniature, l quite like the glitter plaster, love a bit of sparkle lol, I was looking at the smaller laser cutting machines and they’re not as expensive as I thought, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
Thank you so much Julie! The glittery plaster was quite fun, but not for my project. Machines like laser cutters and 3D printers are becoming more affordable for mere mortals such as us. It's not for me though, I don't enjoy the computer design you have to do before you can make something. Thankfully many people do enjoy that and can make stuff for me if I want.
Are you thinking of getting one?
No I wouldn’t be very good with the technical stuff lol, same as the 3D Printer, it’s nice to dream though 🤣 💖
Hello Josje, I came across your site while searching for videos about the trade fair in Rehda and am now starting to watch your videos (as time allows:). I'm totally thrilled, my name is Kerstin and I live in Germany and have been collecting/looking for and making miniatures for my dollhouses for 18 years, of course not that many :) I think it's particularly great that you name the suppliers from whom you order, of course I know some of the providers too. I ordered from Les Chinoiseries today, it's beautiful and the price is great. I would like to send you a little something as a thank you for your great videos, which I'm sure you'll find a place for. How could we get in touch? Kind regards Kerstin from Germany
and sorry for small mistakes, I speak almost no English
Hello Kerstin, Thank you so much for your lovely words! There are so many wonderful miniaturists, and I am happy to share some of the ones I come across at fairs or online.
It's very kind of you to want to send me something as a thank you. It would be best if you contacted me at the MiT email address I think: miniatureintune at gmail. com
By the way, your English is fine! I do understand German, so if you want you can write in German. Thank you Kerstin! Josje
I’m saving this to watch when I get home from work, but I am dying to know what you stole 😂😂😂
A little hint: it was something small...😂

Oh I really enjoyed you "mini haul" from the show. It inspires me to want to go to a show outside of the UK. Also, is there any way you could be persuaded to do a tutorial for those beautiful red and white parrot tulips you have in your Canalhouse? I think you said you made them?
Thank you so much! I love those trips to other shows, mini-vacations! I just mentioned you in my latest video. Yes, I made the parrot tulips. Good idea to do a tutorial on them! I will do that soon. 😃
Oh, I will look forward to seeing that tutorial whenever you are able to do it!
Hello Josje,
I am a relatively new subscriber and your videos are wonderful!
While reading about the miniatures exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston I found out about a book that was published about the show. I purchased the book and as I hoped, your roombox housing the miniature Dutch silver collection was pictured. I have loved looking at all of the different miniatures from throughout history.
Your videos of the various shows that you have attended have shown so many of my favorite miniaturists that I've followed on Etsy for years.
Thanks!
Thank you so much! How wonderful to hear that my roombox at the MFA Boston is pictured in a book. I'll have to see if I can purchase a copy from the museum. Thank you for letting me know! 😃
You are so welcome! The book is printed in Italy and the plates are beautiful. I wish I had been able to go to the show, but I live too far away, about five hours by car. Do you know if the roombox and silver collection will be in the permanent collection? If so, maybe I will visit it one day.
Denise
I am going to see if I can get the book. I think the roombox with the silver is part of the permanent collection, Denise. Some of my other viewers have seen it there before it was part of the miniatures exhibit. It was in the Netherlandish Art wing.
🎉hello hun 🎉
Hi Dorothy 👋 😃
Thank you!!! Very valuable information 😊. I wanted to plaster my dollhouse but I already assembled. It looks amazing. Very realistic. Hopefully will do next time. Thank you.
You’re welcome 😊 Yes it is hard to plaster when the house is already assembled. You could try putting up false walls and plaster those, but I would just try it in the next house.
Hi Josje, I am enjoying your shopping from afar. Just wondering about your preference of Plywood over MDF for your room boxes and dollhouse, is it a matter of availability or some other reason?
Thank you Coby! Plywood or MDF, both have their advantages. And both are readily available here so that's not it. MDF is smooth and easy to paint, a bit lighter (in weight) than plywood and an excellent choice for a roombox or dollhouse. Plywood is a bit more robust, less prone to damage, and more resistant to water. It's a bit more wood-like than MDF. It is just preference.
😃
Thank you for that information. Good plywood is expensive and hard to come by here, whereas MDF is cheaper and readily available at most local hardware shop so I will continue to use it although it does need sealing on both sides to prevent warping.
MDF is a good material to work with, so if that's what you can get, I'd say, use it! And sealing it will also help against damage from moisture. 😃
What size is your room box.
This part, the kitchen, is about 23 cm wide by 33 cm deep. The room to the left of the kitchen is about 43 cm wide. The height is about 29 cm. 😃
Those arent spatulas, they are putty knives.
Oh, haha, thank you! I could have known that as it translates to practically the same in Dutch 'plamuurmes'. 😃
